Expensive view is all you get

My husband were sadly disappointed with this condo. The view was beautiful and at least the air conditioning and toilet were working. But that's all I can say about 301A. The furniture looks fine in the picture which was maybe taken at least 10 years ago. Kitchen table has a wobbly leg, the chairs were heavy, pots and pans and dishes were Goodwill leftovers. No potholders, no cutting board, no tissues, got a sponge but no dishwashing detergent. No grab bars by the bathtub and the faucet was hard to turn. The bed was terrible and my husband and I had backaches. The bed is poorly positioned and difficult to get into bed for the one sleeping inside. Luckily after the eclipse we slept at my sister's place at the Marriott since she had a 2 bedroom unit. No sheets for the sofa bed for my guest who stayed the first 2 nights. We came for the solar eclipse and will probably never return to SC. For the money we spent for this place at almost $2000 for the week, it was not worth it. The closets were a mess as well with leftover lumber and paint cans in the closets. Even Motel 6 gives you a box of tissues. This place needs serious updating. That includes the floor. The whole place was shabby. My sister was so glad she wasn't staying there. It was a disappointing place to stay but at least we got to see the eclipse on the pier.

There is already beautiful new quartz counter tops, and new flooring is scheduled for first of the year! We would also like to share with you that things like dish washing detergent and sheets are issues that could have been handled immediately by our staff. We would like to remind all guests that we have a full staff on hand to help with many of the issues that you encountered. Love Charleston Area. Condo was not up to standard. Sliding Glass door needs repaired badly,Latch missing from door. Rail on Deck need repairs, 3 of the 5 washers in Laundry room were either our of order or one of them leaked in the floor when you used it.. Shower in Condo was difficult to turn on and off. Landry room needs updated. We had two adults and 2 teenage girls with us. 4 Towels not even close to being enough so I rented 4 more. Not a good fit for our group.

Lovely place. I have stayed there for many years. Had a problem when I met my son there and he had no place to park in the rental area. After a lot of communication, he was allowed to park in the island Realty tennis court property. First time that had happened to us. Will reconsider who I rent Sea Cabins from next summer.

Owner's Response: Island Realty is delighted that you had such a terrific time. Island Realty would like you to know that we have no control over the parking spaces. The parking passes are controlled by the Sea Cabins HOA. The Sea Cabins have 136 condos to in total and 157 parking spaces. With the popularity of the Sea Cabins the condos are booked solid throughout much of the year, especially in summer. Unfortunately this has caused the HOA to only allow us to issue 1 parking pass per vehicle. Island Realty is glad you were able to park your sons vehicle in our employee parking this time. Please understand our office will not be able to take the overflow that could happen from this HOA decision. Island Realty is pleased we could help you for this trip, however please note our website and your reservation paperwork does state one vehicle. Thank you for your understanding in this matter and we hope that you do come back and visit us at the Sea Cabins again in the future.

301 A: Best Unit at Sea Cabins!

Sea Cabin 301A has a wonderful view of the beach and ocean from its windows and balcony. (This was a priority to us, as many other units at Sea Cabins seem to have a direct view of the parking lot.) Another big plus is that this unit is located close to the beach access and pier access steps, so it is very easy & quick to get out onto the beach. The beach here is wide and gently sloping with no sharp dropoffs. Being located next to the county park did not present any problems. Sea Cabins has its own gate with a code needed to access the beach. Once on the beach, you can walk miles in either direction. There are beach lifeguards at the county park, but not at Sea Cabins. The unit itself was clean and reasonably well maintained. It felt spacious enough for 2 adults, and might also have accommodated a small child. I would describe it as comfortable, but not luxurious. The Sea Cabin complex appears to have been built quite a few years ago. One caution: there is no elevator and no helpers, so renters need to be able to carry their luggage up the 3 flights of stairs to reach unit 301. Driving into the city of Charleston takes about one-half hour, so it is easy to enjoy beach time and still do some activities in the city. There are a few restaurants within walking distance of Sea Cabins and many others within a short drive. A large Harris Teeter grocery store is also within walking distance. Island Realty was fine to work with. We did not experience any problems with our reservation or payment, and did not interact with any personnel after checking in. All in all, I would rent this unit again because it offers a place to stay at a lovely beach, and is near to the city of Charleston, at an affordable price. Except for some rainy days, we had a great stay!
