Wonderful Hideaway

  • 5 of 5

Well equipped and renovated cottage with a large deck and a huge yard. Very quiet and peaceful, with blooming hydrangeas, (which made my day) Spent two weeks there, and people visiting us commented on how nice the cottage was. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend it.

Lovely cottage with huge yard

  • 5 of 5

Everything was wonderful. This renovated cottage is a gem. The kitchen is stocked with everything you need, the beds are comfortable and plenty of room for my wife and I and our dog. One huge bonus is that the yard is massive!! Enjoyed our stay!

Great little house

  • 5 of 5

We thought the place was great. A little smaller than the pictures made it seem, but it was great for the two of us and two young kids. The house had just about everything we needed to cook large meals, great backyard, and was very clean. I would recommend a/c in the second bedroom as it did get warm in the afternoon. I would also recommend a sofa instead of a love seat and maybe some chairs on the porch in addition to the table. The wifi worked great and the upgraded cable TV was appreciated to distract the kids after full beach days.

Little Hideaway

  • 4 of 5

We, a family of three adults, spent seven very relaxed days at West Island.

We enjoyed the privacy and quietness of that location as well

as the tastefully and lovely decorated little cottage.

After a day at the nearby beach - not crowded during our stay -

the BBQ (attention mosquitos) and the well equipped kitchen were perfect for fixing dinner.

We found everthing very clean and well maintained except for the windows and

screens in the second bedroom. Unfortunately it was impossible creating a pleasant

draft by opening the malfunctioning windows.

What has to be mentioned is that we were very satisfied with the procedure of renting this beautiful property. It was very easy, not complicated at all. Thank you very much!

Quiet hidaway

  • 4 of 5

The house was comfortable and quiet so very restful. Everything in the description was there, in good working order and it was very clean except for a few too many spiders. If we were people who would vacation in the same place more than once then we would go there again. Walking to most beaches carrying anything is a long walk except if you like a little beach along the causeway. Could have used a map that had the location of the 5 beaches. Don't know where there were 5 of them. The largest, nicest beach is a long walk and charges a fee before 3:00pm and that fee is higher for non-residents of Fairhaven. The mosquitoes posed a challenge as there were a couple small beaches in the Reserve but there were just too many mosquitos even during the day with repellents to make that trip often. They were voracious even on shady lanes. Anywhere by the ocean though, no mosquitoes. Loved Jake's Diner for breakfast on Alden Ave. and the Pasta Grille practically next door to the diner for dinner. Being from NJ Ninety Nine is a treat and Mike's on Huttleston (Rt 6) is very good too. Fairhaven Center and the fort are worth visiting.

Owner's Response: We are so pleased you had a restful time. We do keep a map of the island hanging just next to the front door. Mosquitos have been quite bad this year and the town is spraying regularly, but a heavy dose of bug spray is often called for as well. Normally the bugs are not that evil.
