Log & Stone Lodge, 5 Bedrooms, 4.5 Baths, (Sleeps up to 12 guests)
Look-Out Lodge is a true lake front property. Unlike many other rental properties that boast "lake front and water views" that are seasonal (winter) or have obstructed views, that is not the case here at LOL. We have 365 days of unobstructed views of Lake Cumberland (not Cumberland River) from any of the four floors on our property. There is nothing blocking the view of the lake and the surround bluffs from anywhere on our property. You have a complete "birds eye" view since you are above the tree line rather then in them. The views are breathtaking, as noted by our past guests.
And for our returning house guests you will see some noticeable additions that we have made in 2016 to make LOL a more relaxing and entertaining stay for you and your guests. With free high speed WIFI to 10 flat screen televisions located all around the lodge, you will find that LOL has a lot of entertainment to offer. Although we limit our house guests to 12 persons in total, we now have outdoor dining seating on the third floor balcony that can easily accommodate more then our limit guests. Other requests from guests recently was for a Keurig coffee makers for the two kitchens and hair dryers for each bathroom. Well we heard you and added them.
Look-Out Lodge is a four story custom built log and stone home which has a total of 5,275 sq. ft. of indoor living space and over 2,800 sq. ft. of wrap around porches on both the 2nd and 3rd floor. There is an additional court yard on the 1st level facing the lake with another private tiled patio with outdoor dining table and four dining room swivel chairs with accessed either through the recreation room or by the outdoor stair case. We would also include pictures of the vast balconies, but VRBO limits the number of pictures that we can post. We will respond to each e-mail inquiry within 12 hours or less, but you can always call us directly anytime to discuss your group's needs. As owners, we are very actively involved in the management of Look-Out Lodge and we love to interact with potential guests and answer any questions you may have. We want to be sure that Look-Out Lodge is both a good fit for our guests as well for us, as the owners. Our goal is to make your trip to LOL as memorable as possible before, during and after your stay. We will always communicate with our expected guests on every level of your trip. We want you to be confident about your planned stay with us at all times.
LOL is fully equipped with more than the average rental property because it is also our vacation home. We have decorated each of the many rooms individually with fine detail and furnishings to give a unique perspective to this log home. Each individual bedroom is specifically furnished and decorated based on a theme and each has it's own engraved suite name above the entrances to give it that "personal touch" This also allows guests to pick their own bedrooms in advance of arriving to avoid who's sleeping where. Each year there are new features added to the lodge that repeat house guests will and have noticed. And the views of the lake and the surrounding vistas from the lodge will keep you out on the decks more than inside. You can see for miles all around and from a birds eye perspective. And don't worry if the weather gets bad. All of the balconies are fully covered so you can sit back, relax and enjoy the views no matter what the weather brings. There is casual seating all along the main 3rd floor deck as well as a 4 person bar height table with swivel chairs for guests to enjoy. There are two outdoor dining tables with swivel chairs that will accommodate 14 diners. We also provide cushioned swivel rockers; wooden rocking chairs and two double seated gliders which face the front yard to welcome your fellow guests as they arrive. These were all hand crafted by the local Amish community. There is also a double person hammock on a Viking stand on the main deck that has been a real hit with our guests. Whether your dining out, having drinks or just relaxing the outdoor balconies are perfect any time of the day or night. Especially to enjoy the wild life or just to watch the boat traffic go by. There are a variety colorful native birds in our community that we are more then happy to feed so they will stick around.
Look-Out Lodge has a total of 5 bedrooms; 4 1/2 bathrooms; 2 kitchens; great room and dining room on the main floor (3rd floor); a second living room & dining room on the 2nd floor as well as the recreation and game room on the 1st floor. For reservations for 8 persons or less we have the ability to rent down to 3 or 4 bedrooms without the additional living space or recreation room. Be sure to call or e-mail us about these reduced rates, as they are not published.
The recreation and game room is very well appointed for family fun. This is a 750 square foot room with 12 foot tall ceiling which is accented with 12 inch crown molding throughout along with two large picture windows which face Lake Cumberland. The game room is equipped with a standard 4X8 pool table; professional ping pong table; 7 foot air hockey table; professional darts; foosball and lounge area with a leather pit group; coffee table with a new 55 inch flat screen 4K HDTV WIFI 'Smart' TV with a sound bar with DirecTV provided. This recreation room leads to the out-door patio area which has another 4 person outdoor dining table and swivel chairs which also faces the lake. Sorry, but no outdoor hot tub. Note: The recreation room is only available to a full house rental.
Most of our returning guests have really enjoyed the upgrades and the additions we have made in 2015 and 2016. But if you don't need all 5,000 + square feet of indoor space, we have the ability to rent down to 3 or 4 bedrooms at a reduced rate. However, this does not include the recreation and game room at those rates. Just e-mail or call us for these rates. Please note that we have a limit of 12-guests in total. This includes ALL children.
Look Out Lodge was constructed in January of 2007 by the current owners, which is a full log home with stone accents on the exterior. The lodge has a 27 foot tall stone two sided wood burning fireplace in the Great Room and 28 foot floor to ceiling glass windows facing the lake. The open floor plan of the Great Room into the dining and kitchen area are perfect for families getting together. The property is located in a private gated and secured community with paved streets though out along with all underground utilities. This community also has security surveillance cameras to insure safety during your stay, giving you that peace of mind. The community is surrounded by woods on one side and Lake Cumberland on the other. Look Out Lodge sits high on a bluff in the back end of a cul-de-sac which overlooks Lake Cumberland on the Wolf Creek section adjacent to where the original Alligator I Marina was located and across from Jabez Beach. There is no lake access from LOL, unless you are an experienced hiker or climber. We are the only home on this cul-de-sac which gives you complete privacy and seclusion, not to mention unlimited parking. The lodge also has a circular tiled drive-way and paver designed entrance, giving you a truly beautiful curb side appeal as you or your guests arrive. LOL is fully landscaped with five separate retaining walls to the west and one major retaining wall to the south, each with it's own landscaping character of colorful flowers, roses, shrubs and evergreens that is managed by a local professional landscaper. We promise..... You will not be disappointed as you and your guests arrive.

The above rates apply to the entire home which consists of 5 bedrooms & 4.5 baths, two living rooms, two dining rooms, two kitchens, recreation game room and garage. Only one group allowed at any time. Call owner for reduced rates for small groups that only need 3 or 4 bedrooms (maximum of 8). There is a 10% discount, which has been applied to the weekly rates for a full house rental (7 days or longer). Cleaning fee applies. Holiday rates may apply. Add 3% of the total rental agreement amount if paying by credit card. Primary guest(s) must be at least 25 years old and a signed rental agreement is required. Limit of 12-persons for entire home at any time including all children regardless of age. NO PETS ALLOWED. All 10 flat screen television have programming through DirecTV with the Family Programming package included. Guests may request upgrading DirecTV programming at a cost of $10.00 per day during the rental period. WIFI is provided by our local telephone company and provides 8MB using a NetGear Smart WIFI router. All of the WIFI televisions in recreation and great room have Netflix. Dura logs are available for $5.00 each during the fall and winter months. Guests are only required to pay a refundable deposit to hold their reservations dates. We do not require any of the rental amount to be paid until the date of your arrival. Therefore, you do not need to purchase cancellation insurance. We are the only vacation lodging site that offers this to our guests. Call us directly if you want to avoid paying travelers fees as well.

This property is located within a gated community with paved roads and underground utilities. It's the perfect place for the kids to ride their bikes without the parents having to constantly supervise them. Since there is little, if no traffic within the community and the speed limit is 15 MPH there is little to worry about as they discover nature and the beauty of this community. And it's just perfect for that walk with the family before or after a meal.

About the owner: Although we actually live in South Florida, we fell in love with Lake Cumberland area, which is why we decided to build this lodge. We love the changing of the seasons and we come up any chance we can. In the mornings, we just sit on the deck and enjoy our coffee while watch the morning fog roll in over the lake. As much as we love the changes in seasons, winter in Kentucky is something we have yet to embrace.

We built this custom lodge because of the spectacular "unobstructed" views of the lake and the security and seclusion in this private gated community. Plus this has one, if not the best, lake views of all the homes lots in this community. No need to crane your head to see the lake through the forest. It's right there in front of you. As our past guests have stated, "pictures do not do LOL justice". You need to experience this for yourself.

The one main feature of this property is simply the amazing views. Generally, you need to look down to see a passing hawk go by, not up. LOL sits above the tree line, not below or even in the trees. LOL is a perfect place to relax, take a long walk, go biking riding or just taking it all in. You have a tendency to forget to check your office e-mails as you just relax on the decks. Nature is everywhere to enjoy both day and night. Song birds as well as seasonal hummingbirds gather in the front island to take advantage of the free food available to them. There's always a show going on outside to keep you entertained.
