About linda and charlie

My husband and I have been renovating homes for decades and he is a retired master carpenter and i a retired real estate broker so we have a real feel for great properties and had a eye on this one for years before it came on the market. We wanted a home on a lake with mountain views, with a country feel but all the amenities of a resort and found it in Hot Springs Village. We are hikers and especially love fall hiking here in the village and the surrounding areas. You will find us on the lake either in a hobie cat or on a windsurfer or swimming most any summer day. Winter hiking is great here. The terrain is really interesting without the foliage. We love the availability of having 9 golf courses to chose from within minutes of our home and you can play year round here.

linda and charlie purchased this house in 2012

Why linda and charlie chose Arkansas

We decided to purchase this property because we live on Lake Desoto ourselves and thought it would be great to invest in a house that we could share with others so that they too might enjoy Hot Springs Village and the amenities that go with living here. The home has a slightly rustic interior which gives it a cabin feel. The setting is very quiet and peaceful.

What makes this house unique

Lake Desoto has wonderful mountain views and is great for water sports, such as swimming, fishing, windsurfing, boating, and skiing.

Some of my most favorite hiking trails are just minutes from this house.

Close to the front gate where you can easily find Walmart, restaurants, and easy access to Hot Springs.

all 8 golf courses are from 5 minutes to 15 minutes away.

Lake Desoto has a sandy beach, and a marina.

The fitness center here in Hot Springs Village is superb, there is up to date equipment, many fitness classes such as yoga,Pilates, step, aquatic classes, and spinning classes.

There are tennis courts and outdoor pool and restaurants within minutes of the home.

We love the huge treed level lot surrounded on two sides by Lake Desoto, the inside of the house with its vaulted wooded ceiling, natural stone fireplace, and open floor plan the screened in porch looking out at the mountains and the lake. Easy steps going downstairs to the large den and 2 bedrooms the walkout patio with its redwood arbor. The previous owners were railroad people and placed railroad lights at the entrance to the property and planted trees on both sides of the long driveway going to the property. They clearly had a well thought out vision when they designed and built this lovely property.

Fantastic family getaway!

  • 4 of 5

The home was so much bigger than the pictures could convey and had everything we could ask for — and a few surprises! The garage has so much space and the kids loved the ping-pong table. We thoroughly enjoyed the kayaks and pedal boat daily. The swimming dock has full shade in the late afternoons, and the fact that this property is on basically a cul-de-sac of the lake made it so we could swim and play without concern for boats coming through. We spent a lot of time enjoying the lake view from the screened porch. The master bedroom is huge, and the downstairs bedroom with the nice mattress is incredibly comfortable and quiet. The third bedroom was a little noisier than our kids are accustomed to because there is a mechanical closet for the AC and the plumbing from the master bedroom routes above the bed. We turned on some music for them at bedtime and they slept just fine. Having a kitchen and outdoor gas grill with everything we needed allowed us to cook all of our meals at home. Even washing dishes didn't feel like a chore because of the view. The laundry room has so much space to hang and lay out wet swim clothes to dry. The washing machine and dryer were much fancier than mine but were very straightforward to operate and such a nice amenity to have available.

The only nit-picky request I could make would be for a sharpening stone for the larger kitchen knives; there was a sharpening rod but I couldn't seem to figure it out. But again, that's a minor detail that did not detract from our enjoyment of a wonderful vacation in a very comfortable home.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and were sad to leave. We would absolutely come back! Linda was super nice and easy to work with through the whole booking process, and was available to quickly answer any questions I had.

Wonderful stay at the Windsurfers Guesthouse

  • 5 of 5

We had a delightful time in Hot Springs Village. The screened in porch with a view of the lake was very relaxing and we loved being able to walk out the back door to take the kayaks out paddling with our teenage kids. The house was very well maintained and met all our needs. We did not utilize the ping pong table, miniature golf putters/balls, tennis rackets, or corn hole but it was nice to know they were available. We would hope to stay here again when we return to HSV.

Beautiful lake getaway!

  • 5 of 5

Our family had a wonderful, relaxing week on Lake Desoto. We hoped for nicer weather but were still able to fish, kayak, and sight-see. The screened-in porch is a gem that I wish we could have used as it provides a nice view of the lake and the beautiful backyard landscape. The house is very cozy and is well appointed. The beds were also top notch in comfort!! Hot Springs Village has anything you need to get settled. Hot Springs is a short drive away and worth the trip. There are plenty of attractions, shops, and bath houses to check out. If you enjoy sea food, we recommend Cajun Boilers. We hope to visit again.

Owner's Response: Our March certainly was wet and windy this year. What I do on those rainy days is when it lets up I go to the spillway trails and check out the waterfalls. The ground is so rocky here that you can usually do not get muddy feet . The Desoto spillway trails are one of my favorite and within walking distance of the house . I just discovered the Balboa spillway trail. They have built a bridge that really gives you a great view of the waterfalls there. You should plan on coming back during the summer months. We tend to have dry summers and the lake is warm and inviting for swimming and water sports.
