Thank you for your interest in our vacation property. Due to Hurricane Sandy, we've decided to re-build a BRAND NEW HOME! New in 2014. Adults/families only, please.

This gorgeous home sits on a large 80' x 62' lot with plenty of off-street parking + a large FENCED YARD (fence installed since pic was taken) with a picnic table, plus large glass-top table (seats 6) on pavered patio, glass-top table on deck, lounge chairs, brick paver patio, and an outside shower (w/hot and cold water).

We will consider pets! Please see policy below (i.e. no long-haired shedding pets will be permitted unless clipped and groomed prior to moving in). Pets not permitted on furniture, bedding, or on the upper floor.

The first floor has the Master BR and Master Bathroom along with LR, DR, kitchen, another 1/2 bath AND a nice deck (with table, natural-gas Weber grill, and electrical outlet) off of the DR. The 2nd-floor has 3 BR's plus a full bath.

The southern exposure to the back of the home affords plenty of sun and the view of the stars at night is truly 'astronomical'; bring your telescope!

Since this area of LBI is only one block wide, there is very little street traffic which offers security, safety, and serenity to enhance your relaxation.

The home affords close proximity to both the beach (7th from the beach) and the bay (10th from the bay). As for the beach, because this area of LBI is sparsely populated, it is very spacious; no need to worry about 'turf wars' and the boulevard is very easy to cross! Beach access is directly at the end of the street.

The water is very clean and dolphin schools can often be seen feeding close to the beach. Surf fishing can be good if your timing is right. The beaches are life-guarded. Keep in mind that the house is only a short walk from the beach should you need to return for something.

As for the bay located at the other end of the street, there are spectacular views of the sunset and bay waters. As it is close to the inlet, boats of all sizes can be seen traversing the waters. Just a few yards to the south is a newly re-built playground which is State-owned and maintained. It has a small beach where there are no waves and warmer waters... great for toddlers! It also offers benches, a swing set, see-saws, basketball court, tennis court, and a play gym. On the north side of our street is a bulkheaded lagoon where many boats are docked and crabbing can be done. Check out the beautiful boats and homes, too!

We have some bicycles and beach chairs which you are welcome to use (please check for availability). One new addition is a tandem bike (built for two!)! How's THAT for fun! Please bring your own bike helmets. Also, we have 'boogie boards' for your use as we know that these items can take up a lot of room when packing the car for vacation. As a courtesy, we also provide four beach badges which will save you quite a bit of money.

At the very southern end of the island, about 12 short blocks away, is Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Preserve; we recommend taking a nice walk or bike ride. This Federally-funded and maintained area has SPECTACULAR, uninhibited views of the ocean, the natural beach, and the Atlantic City skyline. Many wedding photos are taken here! It also has a beach for bathing, public restrooms, a shower, and a long jetty/bulkhead which is great for fishing. Admission is FREE for motor vehicles, foot and bicycle traffic. Also at this end (just prior to the park entrance) is a deli/convenience store; great for picking up a cup of coffee, bagels, a newspaper, some lotion, lunchmeat, milk, etc.

The island, about 18 miles long, has quite a bit of history. There is two museums close by in Beach Haven, old Victorian homes dating back many years, and 'Old Barney'... Barnegat Lighthouse, at the north end of the island. Also in Barnegat Light Borough resides the commercial fishing fleet in Viking Village. Stop by to see them unload their catches, buy some (very) fresh seafood, or do some shopping.

Party boats are also close by for those who enjoy deep-sea fishing; they even offer rod rentals, supply the bait, and clean your fish for you! The HUGE jetty at Barnegat Inlet was re-built a few years ago and is open to visitors and fisherman who can walk out along the inlet (cement sidewalk with railing).

There are plenty of restaurants and retail shops all over the island! Fantasy Island, an arcade and amusement park, is located about three away in Beach Haven; there is also a magnificent water slide there! A public golf course is about 15 miles away on the mainland but the island has plenty of miniature courses which the whole family can enjoy.

PETS: We understand that pets are an integral part of any family and that kennels are expensive, inconvenient, and stressful. We will consider pets (for an additional non-refundable fee of $150/pet) on a case-by-case basis. Sorry, but long-haired, shedding pets are not permitted unless clipped and groomed before moving in. No guarantees that we will permit a pet.

As you can see, the area is very attractive, offers many conveniences and we, as homeowners, offer many extras that others don't. I have a few more pictures available. Please e-mail or call with any questions.

As a result of a career change, I am now a Registered Nurse. My wife is retired from Travelers Insurance Company after 33 years of service with them. We absolutely LOVE Holgate and our quiet street, in particular, as it is filled with fabulous neighbors and well-kept homes!!!

Why Craig Moffett chose Long Beach Island

My wife and I rented in September, 1990 and fell in love with Holgate. The next Spring, we bought the well-kept home (on a NICE double lot) from a nice gentleman who lived alone. On October 29, 2012 a young lady named 'Sandy' paid us a visit. Although the original home was engulfed in 4' of water, it was repairable. However, after much consideration, we decided to raze our old friend of 21+ years and build anew! It was truly a bittersweet time for us...

What makes this house unique

Close to the beach and bay...the island is only one block wide in my area so we enjoy the proximity to the beach (only seven houses) and watch the sunset at the bay (only 9 houses away). There's also a playground (State owned so it's top quality!) with a play-gym for kids, swings, tennis court, and basketball court. Very little traffic on the's quiet, safe, and relaxing.

We have been going to Holgate for over 10 years and we have we have rented this house for several years before and after they rebuilt after Sandy. The owners Craig and Diane are so wonderful and friendly they always make you feel at home. They have truly made this an amazing home. Loved cooking in the new kitchen, the bedroom are big, bright and with tons of closets and the home is dog friendly. It is so nice that you don’t have to pack all the beach chairs and bikes because the garage is fully stocked and they are in great condition. Holgate is such a great community with friendly neighbors and you are only a block from the beach or the bay which you can’t help watching the sun set ever night! We are more than happy to recommend this home, we keep going back!

Not A Shore House - A Shore Home!

My family spent a week at this exceptional home, and it felt like we were visiting family. We brought our dog, which was a treat. Craig and Diane were there to meet us and walk us through the house and show us the extras ... beach tags, chairs, bikes, wheeled beach tote and boogie boards ... all for our use. They even left a pie on the fridge to welcome us home.

The kitchen is stocked for cooking, plenty of pots, pans, serving and mixing bowls. Two gas grills. Plenty of indoor and outdoor space, including a great pocket porch out front and relaxing outdoor shower and basement entrance that made it easy to leave the beach outside.

The house is set up so even the parents get a break, the beds were great, and with TV's and wireless, the kids were easily entertained. The beach is so close and so quiet but shops and restaurants were only a mile or so away. The southern part of LBI is so relaxing and traffic is not that big a concern. Plenty of room and time to take a bike ride or go for a jog without all the traffic.

In summary, why rent just a shore house when you can "borrow" this home. A great time was had by all.

Great Vacation Spot

We arrived on Saturday morning before our scheduled arrival time. The owners were there to answer questions and get us acquainted with the area. They told us to come in and get settled, store our food and had chairs and an umbrella available to us for a beach visit. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed to prepare our meals -- brand new and immaculate. The property was exactly as we had hoped from the photos. The location was perfect with a half block walk to the beach and beautiful sunsets from the bay.

We were traveling with 2 adult children, a teenage son and extended family. There was plenty of room and privacy for everyone. There was a teen club on Tuesdays and Sundays in beach haven which my son attended and enjoyed. We rented a pontoon which everyone enjoyed. We got to see music at happy hour at a local hotel, played mini golf and had drinks on a rooftop bar. We played sports on the beach and the time flew by.

LBI is a perfect place to go on a family vacation with different ages in your group. There is something for everyone. My favorite thing to do is ride a bike down the flat path along the beach. We brought some bikes but there were bikes available and even a tandem!

What a great vacation. I would highly recommend LBI and this house for a great summer rental.

A Perfect Holgate Hideaway

This rental is a true home away from home. Close to a convenience store, short walk to the beach and a to the views of the Bay in the other direction. The owners provide EVERYthing you need from bikes, beach chairs, sand toys, to even the chain to tie our your four legged family pet. This was a true serene and quiet sanctuary in a great quiet neighbor that provided us with alot of precious family memories. The communication between the owners was excellant and their home was just if not better than their listings boasts of. Their bed were wonderful...a big plus when you try and find the comforts away from home at a great price. Your family won't be sorry to rent from this beach owner and your stay and memories will last you a lifetime in the heart of Holgate.

Excellent Beach Home - Dog Friendly!

We have been going to Holgate for over 7 years and we have we have rented this house for past 2 years. This home is so convenient, cozy, and clean and the owners are truly amazing and friendly. The kitchen is bright, and the bedrooms are a nice size and the living room has a big flat screen TV. The best feature of the house is the outdoor space. It is huge, which works well for us since we have a big family and a yellow lab. We loved having breakfast on the upstairs deck and when you need to escape the sun you can sit under the huge tree with plenty of shade. It is so nice that you don’t have to pack all the beach chairs and bikes because the garage is fully stocked and they are in great condition. Holgate is such a great community with friendly neighbors and you are only a block from the beach or the bay which you can’t help watching the sun set ever night! We are more than happy to recommend this home, we keep going back!

Only the 7th house from the beach and 10th from the bay (both easy walks!)! Quiet street offers safe bike-riding and playing. Easy cross over boulevard to beach since this area of the island is sparsely populated. Playground, Beach, Amusement Park, Water Slide, Crabbing, Fishing (Deep Sea, Surf, and Bay), Boat and Waverunner Rentals.
