We have another property walking distance to restaurants, just search for: 4303953

Be part of the local experience in this conveniently located historic Lockeland Springs neighborhood in East Nashville . Historic East Nashville has been coined by Budget Travel Magazine as Nashville’s version of New York’s East Village.Your guest home sits at the entrance of Shelby Park.

Your comfortable, artful and cozy accommodations consist of 3 bedrooms with pillow top mattresses and 1.5 bathrooms. There’s a full bathroom upstairs, a living room with a flat screen tv, 2 bedrooms, several tables to sit and enjoy your meal overlooking the park.

A visual feast awaits you downstairs. In addition to having another living room with a flat screen tv, a bedroom, ½ bath, and a washer/dryer for your convenience, the living space is turned into a gallery. Beautiful paintings, collages, and photographs adorn the walls. We are proud to promote regional artists. What makes it special is that you may purchase their work and take a little bit of Nashville back home with you.

Well behaved and friendly dogs are welcome. They can even snuggle up with you with the provided pet blankets. Shelby Park is a large 336 acres urban multi-use park along the Cumberland River featuring river views; migratory bird and other wildlife viewing opportunities; playgrounds; a fenced off-leash dog park approximately 1 block away; baseball fields; Vinny Links a 9 hole golf course is approximately ½ mile away and the 18 hole golf course is only a few blocks from your lodging ; Sevier Lake, popular for casual fishing; a Cumberland River boat launch ramp; picnic shelters; and the Shelby Park Community Center across the street which offers tennis. There’s the Shelby Bottoms Nature Center which is a great starting point for exploring more than 950 acres of Shelby Bottoms Greenway. There’s a Nashville GreenBikes station where you can “check-out” a free bike to ride on the Shelby Bottoms and other connected Greenways.

Many of Nashville’s most popular restaurants, tourist destinations, and shops are in this neighborhood. Five points is a popular destination and is only 1.25 miles away which has restaurants, café’s, galleries, pubs, shops, a grocery store, a bank, a post office and more. You can easily take a taxi or there’s a bus stop one block away. You are 1 ½ miles from Interstate 24, 2.12 miles from the LP Field Football Stadium, 2.71 miles from the Country Musical Hall of Fame, 3.29 from the Frist Center for Visual Arts and 5.42 miles from Vanderbilt University. About Diane Sesler

In 2010 we lost our home and most of our personal belongings to the devastating Nashville flood. It wasn’t an easy process but there’s a spark of sunshine in every situation. We lived in the backyard of our flooded inhabitable home in a 33’ trailer for over a year. It took that much time for the government to go through with their promises.

Humor, among other qualities, kept us afloat. How can you not find humor with 2 people living in a backyard in a teenie weenie trailer with 1 giant Doberman named Nookie Pookie and a bad tempered cat named Monster.

It was business as usual for my husband David who is a computer programmer. I began a blog called Sardines In The Hood. It kept me sane. One of my stories was published in The Tennessean newspaper and an online magazine Dancing Noodle picked up some of my stories. It was my first time at being professionally paid for writing. I’m a visual artist who likes to work with paper. I have done sculptures and other types of artwork that have been featured in galleries, boutiques and shows.

We both love nature. We are passionate about the environment and animals. Our flooded home overlooked the Cumberland River. We sat on our dock many nights looking at sunsets, observing migrating birds, and other creatures that made us appreciative of what we had in our life.

When we found this home it needed a lot of work. It wasn’t pretty but we had a vision. The government finally bought our flooded property so that we were able to move on and finally live in a home after 1 ½ years. We cleaned, painted, renovated and made this new home joyful. Part of the landscape was designed by people who do foodscaping. All the flowers, bushes, trees have a purpose that feeds the animals as well as humans. We hope this becomes a popular trend with everyone on this earth. We also have started a vegetable garden. We hope to have plenty of vegies to share with our guests.

We are happy.

May this home bring you happiness too.

Why Diane Sesler chose Nashville

Peaceful ...overlooking park but close to many restaurants, galleries, shops, bakeries, pubs, and of course downtown. Our beautiful art gallery/meditation room is loved by everyone. East Nashville is home to many musicians, artists, a fantasic web of eclectic and artistic community .

What makes this townhome unique

Certified Wildlife Habitat. We provide a designed landscape which organically feeds both humans and animals. Some plants, trees & bushes were here when we purchased the property. We have tried since then to implement many new indigenous species. A perfect blend with the picturesque park which borders the property. It is the best of both world ...staying in a green property but close to downtown

Pleasant experience and nice stay.

Property is in nice area and very comfortable inside. Had no issues

Owner's Response: Thank you for the very nice words and having no bad issues. I hope you enjoyed the flowers and googoo's we left on the kitchen table for your husband's 60th birthday and that we were able to accommodate you so you could check in early before check in time. It saddens me a bit that if you had such a pleasant stay and had no issues that we deserved only 4 stars. We do not get those often. I wish you could explain it to us so that we can make it better.

Perfection

  • 5 of 5

Just loved our stay at the Artful Lodger! Quiet retreat near a large beautiful walking park. Enjoyed the artwork, fresh flowers and thoughtful touches throughout the comfortable home. We could not have been more delighted and the icing on the cake was spending a few moments with the caring owners, Diane and David. This place sets the example for home rentals!

Owner's Response: Thank you so much and we really enjoyed meeting you and sweet Harrison. I appreciate all your kind words and it means a lot to us especially coming from people who own a beautiful inn in Cape Cod. We hope to go there some day and we hope you come back this way as well. Have a great week. Diane & David

Beautiful 3BR home on gorgeous property. Quaint , cozy and clean. Decorated very nicely. Close to all locations Best restaurant nearby was Urban Grub. Atmosphere was perfect along with shrimp and grits!! We had 4 ladies on trip . 2 house suggestions: more seating in upstairs den and replace mattress and plumper pillows downstairs . Other than that, perfect house. Complete with all the essentials needed to enjoy our stay. DIANE was super accommodating to our special check in needs!!

Owner's Response: We are happy you enjoyed our home and had a good time. Thank you for the suggestions. I'm a bit confused about the mattress downstairs. That mattress is only 4 years old and we buy expensive mattresses for comfort and longevity. I have never heard this comment before so we will try and see what is possibly happening. The pillows no problem - thanks and I will purchase new one's. Again, thank you for staying with us and your comments.

Wonderful getaway

  • 5 of 5

The house was perfect. We were there for a girls' weekend. The house had what we needed and more (we could have brought 3 more friends). The location was perfect - close to the downtown and trendy areas but far enough away to be secluded. I would definitely recommend - even considering for my family.

Wonderful home away from home!

  • 5 of 5

We had such a wonderful experience from start to finish! First, dealing with Diane was such a pleasure! And what a joy when we arrived at the Artful Lodger! It was so cozy and charming! It truly felt like a home away from home . We enjoyed all the yummy snacks .... googoo clusters, popcorn and tomatoes from Diane and David's garden! Every amenity that we could have needed was supplied to us! The kitchen was fully stocked , and we enjoyed cooking breakfast there! The beds were really comfy ! The art pieces were so fun and happy too! And best of all, was waking up to the beautiful view of Shelby Park and having access to the porch and courtyard! We could hang out here any day!! We were so happy to find this home and it made our stay in Nashville for our son's wedding, all the more special ! I highly recommend this place !

Owner's Response: What a sweet response. It's guests like you that make us feel good about having a vacation home. We wanted you to feel like you are staying at a relative's home you really like. You experienced exactly what we wanted you to feel and that makes us happy. Special and respectful guests like you can stay with us over and over again. Thank you.

Wonderful Stay!

  • 5 of 5

Thank you for a truly enjoyable stay. A group of six of us came to Nashville from Wisconsin. The house was the perfect size, had every amenity and was so interesting with all the artwork. The neighborhood felt safe and was close to so much. It was super quick to get downtown Nashville and there is so much in East Nashville as well. Being right next to the park was great for early morning walks and runs. I liked that the door had a code so that we all could access the house and didn't have to do the key shuffle. The only improvement I can think of is that there is only one spare roll of toilet paper. It seems an easy thing to provide that would keep the guests from having to run for it. Though we did go to the grocery store, but predicted wrong on what we'd need, and had to run back later in the week when we didn't need food. Not that big of a deal. One of the women said that is pretty standard to have to provide it, but still, it seems a very easy and cheap thing to do for guests. Last little thing is that the bed in the downstairs bedroom creaks when you move. Combine an insomniac with someone who moves a lot in the night, and you have the recipe for sleepless nights for both. Those are both pretty minor complaints for such a wonderful stay. So glad we found this house...I got a lot of kudos from the other women for finding it, so those kudos must be transferred to the owners. Thank you!!!

Owner's Response: Thank you for the lovely review and hope you will come back again since you had such a good time. I'm sorry for the inconvenience of having to get more toilet paper. I mention everything we provide in the letter I send everyone before their arrival, but I will definitely consider adding another roll. I see your point. It's always great to get feedback so thank you for that. The creaking bed is a new one and not sure what to do about it, but will have my sweet husband look at it and see if there's anything that can be done. The frame is a beautiful antique and perhaps the age makes it creak in pain....So, thank you for your tips and glad that they were minor enough that you still had a fantastic time. Thank you for leaving positive feedback on this site as well as in our guest book. Have a great week. Diane Diane
