My husband and I enjoyed the Quiet and Seclusion. We kept busy all weekend. We enjoyed sitting by a fire and cooking out! The Cottage was very Comfy and Beautiful! We look to return again! Thank You!!!!
A nice honeymoon spot
Our first impression of the cottage was that it seemed to have been dropped in the woods...and I mean that as a good thing. The number of trees, both on this property and the surrounding homes, made it feel very private. The inside of the cabin was very nice. The rather high ceilings and open layout of the home made it feel much larger, despite its small footprint. The cabin is a very short walk from the national park. We really enjoyed our short stroll through the park. Unfortunately we only had a chance to hike for a couple hours one day. The main advice I would give to someone wishing to stay here is to be sure to make plenty of time to hike, and do so early in the trip. I also wish we had taken full advantage of the outdoor area. This cabin has a nice spot for cooking out or just hanging out outside. I suppose our stay was simply a little too short. This is a wonderful spot for a honeymoon or a romantic getaway and we would highly recommend it!
Beautiful Couple's Retreat
Had a lovely four days in the cabin. It was chance that the rains those days were extreme. As a result we spent more time indoors that usual. it just wasn't out side type weather. Nevertheless, we made the most of it and truly enjoyed our stay! Hopefully next time the sun will shine.
Fantastic location and enchanting home!
Cozy, peaceful and refreshing
Perfect for a couple and good jumping off place to explore northern Virginia. I’d recommend for sure.
Cozy and comfortable
This is a perfectly lovely cabin, with a well-appointed kitchen, roomy bathroom with clawfoot tub and shower, AC, and wireless, yet it is a short walk to the entrance to the Appalachian Trail. Thoughtful touches like a bottle of bubble bath and a quilt on the couch made it seem very much like home. The residential neighborhood is quiet and very much in the woods, so you are surrounded by birdsong from morning to evening, whether you leave the windows open or go sit in the screened gazebo with a good book. Neighbors are not too near, and it feels quite private. If you have allergies to dryer sheets, you might mention it before your stay (I didn't think of that, unfortunately), and I'm sure they would omit using them on the bed sheets. Highly recommended for one to two people--more would get crowded, in my opinion, as it is entirely an open floor plan, except for the bathroom, which has a door. A really beautiful place!
Only a short stroll from the Appalachian Trail and Shenandoah National Park, Carson Mountain Cottage offers a self-catering vacation home near hiking trails with the convenience of nearby wineries, such as Chester Gap Cellars, Rappahannock Cellars, and Desert Rose Winery (to name just a few).
Located in the Chester Gap community of Rappahannock County, Carson Mountain Cottage is an easy twenty-minute drive to the Inn at Little Washington. Grocery stores, pharmacies, bars and restaurants are also located in nearby Front Royal (7 miles).
Carson Mountain Cottage is a place to visit in every season. Enjoy summer at the cottage under the cool forest shade. Relax on the front porch or in the gazebo.Take in the fall foliage on day hikes to Compton Gap or Indian Springs. In the winter, grab your cross-country skis and glide your way to Skyline Drive.
