Great interim housing while house-hunting
After much searching, we were very grateful to find this spot in the East Bay that would accommodate us and our three cats for two months. It did cost us an extra $800 dollars in fees and extra rent, but we were just so happy to have a place that it was worth the increased cost.
The apartment is a charming, light filled space with 12 foot ceilings and great views of downtown Oakland. It is on the third floor, so be ready to climb some stairs. The location is on the edge of an enclave of beautiful Victorian homes and the homeless encampment under the freeway.
There were a few needed repairs that we brought to the attention of the management...an improperly installed dishwasher, some broken window handles, and a broken lock on the back door. The manager, Tracy, was extremely helpful and responsive to all our questions and concerns, so I trust that these issues have been addressed.
I would recommend sending your mail to an alternate address during your stay, as the mailbox is communal and not as secure as I would have liked. Tracy, again, was very helpful in getting all our critical mail to us.
In summary, I would recommend this unit to anyone in a similar situation, looking for a short to mid-term place to stay, convenient to the East Bay, especially if they have animals.
Beautiful but Dirty
The neighborhood is horrible. Granted we didn't have any issues but the side walks and nearby park are riddled with uses condoms and soiled tissue paper (with a wonderful Porto-potty smell that's spans about a block long) from the homeless shanty town of tents right down the street. This area IS NOT Emeryville it is straight up OAKLAND off of 980. Its and industrial area with bus and construction vehicle mechanics flanking each side. The apartment is a really charming 2 room single flat in what used to be a single Victorian home that's been cut up to accommodate about 6 different units. The apartment was not cleaned before we arrived. There was dog hair everywhere and long blond hairs all over everything... our feet were black after walking around for 10 minutes. I had to clean the tub before giving my son a bath. The woman that was waiting for our arrival was pleasant but a little too comfortable for this being a service I'm paying for... especially considering her joint smoking on the front stoop as she waited for her Uber. I don't knock the herb smoking but not while conducting business - come on! The dishwasher was broken. There was no key for the back door. Laundry room was nice. Other than that the stars I did give are just for the charm of the unit because I LOVE the old victorians. But I will not be returning to this property again.
We are sorry that this guest did not enjoy her stay. However, this review is erroneous in a number of respects. The property is a triplex in a twin Queen Anne Victoria. The neighborhood is Downtown Oakland as is indicated on the map. The apartment is professionally cleaned after each guest departure. While smoking marijuana is legal in the City of Oakland, the property manager does not smoke and regularly admonishes guests who do smoke in common areas of the property. There were no dogs in the property prior to this guest's arrival. Most guests absolutely love this property. Despite this guest's experience, we will continually strive to provide excellent accommodations and service to our guests. And going forward this guest brought a dog, dirty camping equipment, the manager offered to help bring their belongings inside & gave them barbecue coals. This guest offered the manager over for dinner & she declined. As stated before the property is professionally cleaned and all accommodations were met. This guest didn't respect the house rules & left their leftover food in the refrigerator, trash cans full of debris, and their dog hair all around the unit, including their dogs feces/poop bags on the ground in front of the trash cans outside; instead of properly disposing them. If anyone should be writing a bad review it should've been me about how they left my property like a unkept campsite!
