Eric's Hideaway is located on Bell Island, formerly a center for fishermen and lobstermen, of which there are only a few left. Fortunately, Bell Island is now connected to the mainland by bridge. Eric’s Hideaway, or more simply the cottage, is situated on eight acres of land with 400 feet of waterfront, and has outstanding views of the LaHave Islands and the ocean. See the photos.
The front deck runs the length of the cottage and is more than 500 square feet, facing the cove, the islands, and the ocean. An upstairs balcony gives an even higher view. The steps from the deck lead down to the water. There are three separate peninsulas on the property which can be ventured on to go further out into the water.
Inside, there are four bedrooms, one with a queen-sized bed, two with full-size beds, the fourth with a twin bed and bunk beds. Three of the four bedrooms are upstairs, one of them having a balcony. The fourth bedroom is downstairs overlooking the deck and ocean. There is a full kitchen with a new stove, refrigerator, microwave, new washer and new dryer. (Sorry, there is no dishwasher.) There is a large kitchen table. In addition, there is a grill on the deck.
We have twol bathrooms. The downstairs bath has a shower but no tub; the upstairs has a claw-foot tub, but no shower. We provide towels, linens, bedding, and dishware.
The large living room faces out over the deck through large windows. There is a 40-inch high definition TV with satellite service and internet service, but renters must provide their own computers. The cottage has electric heat, with each room having its own thermostat. (Please make sure the thermostats are turned off when not needed.)
