We are a family of four (two young children) who like to visit Davis on occasion and explore the farmers market and bike around town.
Woodland is a short drive away and we like to walk around the Historic Downtown and eat at the local restaurants.
The house is located within walking distance of Arroyo Park and the Aquatic Center.

We love the home and the area, and use this as a second home when not rented out.
Davis has a GREAT farmer's market on Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings. It also has a great CO-OP for fresh groceries.
The city is bike friendly and you can get around without a car. There is a local bus stop across from the house.
We use this as a base to travel to Sacramento or to the San Francisco Bay Area. Amtrak recommended to the Bay Area.
The local shops in downtown Davis and Woodland have very unique items and the Vacaville Premium Outlets are a short drive away.
We can def. recommend a stay at the "Red House". Everything was nice and clean and the house is quite big with plenty of room for sleeping, cooking, living and also swimming.
Our little girl looooved the place because she found so many great toys and books in every corner of the house. This way we had an even better time because she was so busy :)
Right behind the house is a huge beautiful park to go for a walk or to the playground, too.
Last but not least I forgot my notebook there and the owners took the effort to find a way of bringing it all the way to where we live on a trip they made here!
We really enjoyed our stay here. The place is fairly spacious and feels light and open.
This house is comfortable, well equipped and in a great location. It is clean and feels like home. The owners are very responsive and easy to work with. We will stay here again in the future.
We really enjoyed our recent stay at the Davis Red House. My family and I stayed there for a week while in the area visiting family, and it was a great home for the kids and they loved the pool. I wasn't looking for a home with a pool, but the kids really enjoyed it, and the outdoor space was very nice. The home is also very close to bike paths and a park, which we took advantage of. I was impressed with the cute decor of the home, and it was very welcoming. The owners were responsive and easy to communicate with. I would recommend it to any individual or family visiting the area.
With all the fairly good reviews from the site, we had high hopes for our stay at this property during our visit from overseas. The pictures and description made it sound like the right place. Plus the owner was willing to put in an air mattress to accommodate our 5th child who is 5 yrs. old. Unfortunately, we walked into a place that didn't look like the home in the pictures--totally different furnishings! And our white socks were black after a couple of hours of walking around without shoes on (owners asked that we remove shoes in the house!) Opened the fridge, freezer and kitchen cabinets and found an assortment of opened containers of food and unmarked left-overs. Closets and shelves (except in the master BR) were FULL of toys and knick-knacks. As the previous reviewer noted, toys and books were in EVERY corner of the house. We are a family of 7 (5 kids) and were planning to stay for 2 weeks so we wanted to be able to unpack our clothes and put away our groceries, but we couldn't find a place to put them! The worst part of the experience was that after emailing to complain about what we found, thinking recent tenants left a mess, the owner explained that they use the house frequently and that her husband worked nearby therefore keeps food, etc. there, then she asked us to vacate her home. Wish we knew all this before we made our plans to rent the place last April. Wish also that she had updated her photos to reflect the "change in deco." When we said that we would like to make it work and stay due to the difficulty of trying to find a place for our family at such short notice, she refused to let us stay and insisted that we leave the house that same day and find another place or a hotel despite knowing that we had children with us and that we live overseas! Although she probably couldn't have evicted us since we didn't breach any terms of the contract, we left anyway. We have pictures to document what we found--including the moldy cheese that she denied was there--as well as the email record of correspondences. At least she had the decency to give us a full refund. This might be great place for people who don't mind a mess and living out of a suitcase, or even renting the place as a venue for a party. But if you want a HOME away from home that is clean and ready for you to move into (like all the other VRBOs we've used in the past), you might want to look for something else. BTW, didn't get much help from customer service either. We were on our own!!!
I had my family visit me from Germany and they spend 5 nights in the Red House. They loved every minute of it. The house is roomy and tastefully furnished; it has everything you need, including a beautiful big swimming pool in the back yard. It's only a few minutes from downtown Davis. Dealing with the owners/managers was very straight forward. We would come back in a heartbeat!
Within walking distance to Arroyo Park and Arroyo Park Aquatic Center which is open in the summer and hosts swim meets. The Bus Stop is across the street to take you into town or UCDavis. We also have bikes and strollers for guests to use to go to town or UCDavis. UC Davis is also within walking distance. This is a quiet residential neighborhood close to the middle school, several elementary schools and the Davis High School. Trader Joes and Safeway are biking and walking distance away.
