Why Claire or Martin chose Nanaimo H
We live next door to this property. We bought our half-acre lot in 2004, then built in 2007. When the half-acre next door went up for private sale, it seemed like a natural thing to buy it. We operate it as a vacation rental.- Martin and Claire
What makes this Mobile Home unique
Fish and Chips at the Ship and Shore store (beside the marina, steps away) are the BEST! Inquire with us about trailheads near the property where you can take a short hike or walk your dog off leash.

A home with cabin charm
Had a wonderful and relaxing time . Claire and Martin were very welcoming. Had problem with wifi and Martin spent a good couple of hours fixing it for us. Very central to comox and Courtney as well as all the beaches. Spent lots of time ocean shore exploring and saw sea lions and blue heron. Would recommend this spot to anyone. Mariana close if you have a boat or kayak . Very quite bay also fish and chips were excellent !!!
A spacious , comfortable place to stay in a lovely area
We enjoyed a wonderful relaxing month at Claire and Martin's vacation rental. It was really clean, quiet and comfortable and had everything our family needed and more. There is plenty of room for four or five people and our son's dog was very happy there too, especially when let loose to run on the Deep Bay beach near low tide. From the VRBO description, we were not expecting luxury but it was spacious, very well equipped and had some very nice features. A super comfortable king bed. A huge, private deck which was great for having meals outside and relaxing. Although there is no range, there is a large portable convection oven that worked very well. We did appreciate having a washing machine and clothes line. Unlike a previous reviewer, we did not feel that AC was necessary when the weather was hot: we used the fans and shut the blinds during the day when we were outside and opened up most blinds at night to let cool breezes come in. At the end of the spit an uncrowded sandy beach was great for safe swimming. At the other end next to the Deep Bay RV park was a good place for launching kayaks. Seal Bay and Nymph Falls parks, near Comox, have lovely trails through beautiful forest so we visited them several times. The Deep Bay marina is very close and we enjoyed evening strolls there to watch for wildlife and see fishing boats returning near sunset. We saw seals, herons, kingfishers and even river otters. In early September, after some cooling rain, salmon were returning to spawn and Martin very kindly knocked on our door to tell us that salmon were in the creek at the bottom of the property! The owners' genuine hospitality was a special bonus.
Dated but tidy property in great location
This place is not for everyone. The best parts of this property is 1. its location, a short walking distance from a beach, a marina, and a great fish and chips restaurant, 2. its huge deck with table, chairs, loungers and BBQ, and 3. excellent wifi. The weak spots of the property is that it is an old trailer without air conditioning. We were very hot at times, and in in this world of increasing heat, the days of figuring that being near water means air conditioning is unnecessary are fast fading. I also found myself itching to pick up a paintbrush and paint that original, cheap wood paneling in shades of off-white to freshen the place. The carpet in the living room is also very dated and if replaced would go a long way toward brightening the place. It has minimal kitchen appliances--no oven and only an ancient, countertop, two burner plug-in hot plate. The TV is tiny and the cable offerings less than minimal (lacked even the major news channels). (We don't have TV at home so we enjoy having a full offering of tv channels). There is no doubt that as Homeaway/VRBO offerings go, the house itself was the poorest we have stayed in by a long shot. It's more like a hunt camp cabin (except it's a trailer) than a "traditional" Home Away offering--and some people would love that, and some would hate it. That said, the bed was comfortable, and having a king size bed is a very nice touch. In addition, there isn't much available in the immediate area, yet it is a great area to spend some time in. The owners themselves are friendly and respectful of privacy. Bottomline, we'd go back, but I have to admit I couldn't recommend it to many of the people I know . Paint, new carpet, updating the tv offerings, and installing a real stove and oven would change this property from marginal to excellent.
Thanks for your review. We strive to provide a clean, tidy, private, basic home at the lowest price in our area. Having owned it for a few years now, we have reinvested all the vacation rental revenues into property improvements, as noted by the comments about the new deck and quality of beds. In 2016 projects included a new septic system in July, a new washing machine, and roof installation scheduled for September. We will consider your helpful suggestions as we continue to invest in improvements. We encourage all our potential guests to carefully read our listing which describe details such as cooking appliances and TV channels.
This place is very much a home away from home. The bed was comfortable, the kitchen was fully stocked and the barbeque worked very well. We were amazed how quiet it was and what a wonderful place to walk and relax. This place was exactly as it was pictured. We had an awesome time and beautiful weather. Thanks for the great time. We plan to come back.
Deep Bay Resort
The most wonderful little place. Very clean and everything you need! The king bed is awesome . So quiet and comfortable. Deep bay is very charming. Will definitely be returning
We had a wonderful stay, met the owners and found them charming. You would have to be a good climber to go down the trail to the beach. Place was spotless, well furnished, tv small, well equipped except for a can opener.
It was the perfect spot for our visit with friends and fishing. We definitely recommend this place and we will return.
thanks for your review. It was great to be your hosts here in Deep Bay. And a new can opener is in place for our next guests who arrive soon.
