Why Betty Bunch chose Lake Marion

PURCHASED THIS FISHCAMP 4 YEARS AGO. WE GUTTED THIS OUT AND REBUILT WITH OUR HANDS. WE ARE VERY PROUD OF THIS HOUSE.

We loved the red house especially the porch, dock and the beautiful view of the cove. The house was so well equipped and the owners were so accommodating! We loved making s'mores on the bonfire...thanks to Billy for building it for us, playing mah jongg on the beautiful porch and enjoying our wine and cheese on the dock in the late afternoon. We will definitely be back!

We'll be back!

  • 5 of 5

One of the best parts of our whole trip to 4 states in the South was sitting on the porch at The Red House. The setting is just beautiful - despite proximity to neighbours it feels (and is) very private and the trees were alive with birds (yellow-rumped warblers, tufted titmouse, pileated woodpecker, cardinals, brown thrasher, and robins were some of our sightings -and of course the "resident" great blue heron). Proximity is great for visits to Beidler Forest, Santee NWR, Santee State Park and Charleston. The house itself was well furnished and the owners were very quick to respond to any question or concern, very friendly and considerate. Thank you for our week there!

The Red House

We arrived at the house in the middle of a tropical storm, but the house and property were above our expectations. We lost power for a short time, but after about 10 minutes, it was back on. Did a lot of fishing and just enjoying the peace and quiet (except for the chain saws around the corner to clean up the mess from the storm) Overall it was a great stay and will definitely place this on a place to come back to. My sister-in-law was already discussing coming back in a couple month. Thanks Betty and Billy for making our weekend away a great success.

Family vacation!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I stayed at The Red House in August and had a wonderful time! Could not have asked for a better vacation! Sitting on the porch early morning drinking coffee and reading was a great beginning of each day! Very quiet and relaxing! We played games and had corn hole Olympics! Grands had a wonderful time! Thanks Betty and Billy for everything!

Exceeded Expectations

  • 5 of 5

Mr. and Mrs. Bunch were wonderful hosts. The house and grounds were clean and in excellent condition. We enjoyed the spaciousness and serenity of that little corner of paradise. Our stay was shortly after the epic floods earlier in October. As the lake was still high and low lying areas still had standing water, I fully expected to battle monstrous mosquitos all week. On the first day there, I noticed someone on a golf cart with a large chemical sprayer in-tow riding around the yard. It was Mr. Bunch himself! He sprayed the entire property and some of the surrounding area with an insecticide that really worked! On the weekend, we lit the gas grill for a cookout but ran out of propane as the grill was heating up. I called Mrs. Bunch, and in less than 5 minutes, the propane tank was replaced. Awesome! I think Betty and Billy Bunch deserve a vacation!

This was a wonderful weekend getaway for us. My husband and I had so much fun fishing and enjoyed the scenery. This is a perfect house and we LOVED the porch. We will definitely be coming back. Owners were great to work with and couldn't be nicer.
