This VRBO partner has demonstrated and is committed to fast response times, the best rates, and a great guest experience.
Owner John has been in the construction industry for over 40 years so he was undaunted by the task of renovating a 'fixer upper' casita. We love the desert and had been looking for an opportunity to purchase a casita in the Rams Hill development for many years. When the opportunity arose, we jumped on it. The two story casitas in Rams Hill have open loft upstairs bedrooms. We decided to fully enclose the upstairs room to provide more privacy for guests. We installed an Ocotillo desert mountain scene art glass window in the new wall in the upstairs bedroom.
Judy Scheuer purchased this condo in 2011
We have been visiting the Borrego area for many years and often have stayed in Rams Hill casita rentals. We feel that the location, gated entrance, beautifully kept grounds around the casitas and the elevated location above the desert floor lend a setting that is unequaled in the area. It was a logical extension of our staying in casita rentals to purchasing one for our own enjoyment. We also own a lot in the San Felipe community within Rams Hill and the casita will provide a base for us to operate from when we eventually build a custom home there.
The fire pit seating area on our patio lends a very unique experience to enjoying the nights in our casita. We have spent evenings looking at the spectacularly starry night sky with a cozy fire in the fire pit. Our patio faces west towards the desert and mountains so the view is one that few other casitas in this development share. We enjoy taking long walks through the area.
The casita was well- equipped and we felt welcome there. It was clean and comfortable and met our vacation needs. Although it is not fancy, it certainly has everything two couples could ask for during our week's stay.
I do have a few recommendations, some of which are probably well known. First, the dishwasher needs repair. This is only a convenience for the guests. Second, we were disappointed the Las Casitas pool was closed. Although our key fob worked for the San Felipe pool, it was freezing cold. Consequently,. we had to use the Sante Fe pool, which is heated. but it did not accept our key fob. Luckily, there was somebody there to let us in. In the future, guests may want to have a key fob for ALL pool areas as using the pool and hot tub is something we look forward to using. Lastly,. I think that the advertising for any place on VRBO should be clear about the VRBO fees that are passed on to the guests when the final bill is stated. Other than that, this is a great place. The owner, Judy, is very helpful and communicates well with the guests.
The layout and location is ideal for accessing so much if the park. The view from the casita is of the mountains, and one could easily just stay all day and stare at them. Highly recommend this property.
The house is located in a beautiful location in the heart of Borrego Springs.
It is very cozy and is equipped with everything needed to cook a breakfast or a meal.
The community is very well taken care of and nicely landscaped.
There's is a pool nearby to cool off on a hot summer day.
It's a nice place to come back to after gourgeous yet strenuous desert hikes.
This place is fantastic! modern and updated and very clean and comfortable. fully equipped. the patio is so awesome with a fire pit and an amazing desert view. The night sky was beautiful to enjoy on the patio. Owner made it easy to check in and out and clear directions. we will be back for sure! Thanks Judy !
Overall this is a very nice, clean and comfortable condo. All rooms and bedrooms are very nicely furnished and the bathrooms had plenty of towels.
Only a couple of minor items that I would recommend going forward. We were surprised that there was no cable TV. I always like to catch up on the news and the golf channel in the evening but was not able to do so. Instructions recommended connecting the TV (connection provided) to your laptop for streaming.
Also, there was no coffee in the kitchen. I did find some coffee beans in a container on the counter but the grinder is in need of some cleaning so I used the blender. It worked out ok.
As always the desert night out there is second to none with tons of stars and satellites overhead. I would recommend bringing along some seat cushions to make the outdoor seating a little more comfortable.
When we rented the Casita, it was before the Super Bloom. When we arrived the bloom was really 'on' , and the town was packed. We enjoyed the bloom and the storms that also rolled through. But what really added to the enjoyment of the Borrego area was the Casita itself. Location is a close drive to 'Downtown' Borrego but far from the crowds. From the Casita it is an easy, scenic walk to to the Rams Hill club house - with attendant bar and restaurant. The Casita is very nicely appointed and in great condition. Owners have supplied lots of info about the area including maps, books and points of interest. Plus there was a very nice supplies of coffee, condiments, paper and etc. We enjoyed sitting out and looking at the night skys. We communicated with owners who are very responsive and accommodating. Would have give this a 5* rating - only issue was lack of local TV. We had a great time in the Casita Get Away.
