Come relax and play in this comfortable 4-bedroom home in the heart of Woodstock. The house is perfect for families or friends, and for business travelers. Owners are a retired innkeeper and her daughter, who also lives in this wonderful neighborhood with her family.
The house has 4 bedrooms that will sleep up to 8. One room on each level has two single beds. The other two rooms have queen beds. You will have the entire house and private yard to yourselves.
The kitchen is fully provisioned with all the tools a baker or chef might need. There is a fenced yard with covered patio, table and chairs, and a hammock. Off-street parking is available for one car, and overnight street parking is plentiful. Amenities include wi-fi, hdtv, cable, dvd player, washer/dryer, and gas grill. Portland and area maps and guidebooks are provided. The family-friendly house is also stocked with crafts and games for all ages, as well as a stroller, pack and play, and booster chair for the little ones.
The house is one block from a large park and playground, and 3 blocks from shops and local favorite restaurants Toast, Laughing Planet, Delta Cafe, Otto's and Dick's Kitchen. Woodstock also offers fabulous Thai, Pizza, Japanese, and Middle Eastern, and multiple cafes. New Season's, Trader Joe's, and Safeway will keep your pantry full, and the Woodstock library can add to your enrichment. Hair and nail salons will have you looking good, and a wine bar and pubs will keep you happy. The Woodstock Wellness center offers massage and yoga classes. A UPS store will help with fax, copying, and mailing needs. Main bus lines and Reed College are also in easy walking distance.
Activities abound in Woodstock and surrounding area. Within a few blocks is the thriving Farmer's Market, open June-October. The expansive Eastmoreland public golf course, open all year, is a five minute drive from the house. Concerts and movies are played throughout the summer at neighboring parks. Mt. Scott Community Center is 1.5 miles away, and features indoor lap and play pools (including a slide, current pool, and hot tub), vintage roller rink, basketball courts, fitness and dance classes, and a full gym. On warm summer days classic outdoor Creston Pool is a 5 minute drive north.
Reed Canyon is just one of the hidden gems in the neighborhood. The beautiful urban wildlife habitat is a 10 minute walk from the house, and surrounds a lake and creek. Reed Canyon is a wonderful escape for bird watchers, children, or any nature lover.
The spectacular Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden is an international tourist destination. The garden is just on the other side of the lovely Reed College campus, a hearty walk or a 5-minute drive by car. If you're feeling particularly adventurous you can hike along Reed Canyon on your way to the garden. The garden is open year round and features multiple ponds, plentiful bird and plant life, and views of the golf course.
Antique lovers can spend a full day exploring the many shops in neighboring Sellwood-Moreland, and revive themselves in the cafes and restaurants that abound.
Ten minutes by car you'll discover Oaks Bottom Wildlife Refuge with walking and biking paths, and historic Oaks Amusement Park and Roller Rink. The path heads north from here, and will take you for miles alongside the Willamette and up to the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI). From here the path merges with the Eastbank Esplanade, which continues along the Willamette and up and over Portland's bridges and into downtown - a fabulous urban tour with expansive views of this beautiful city.

Wendy Ferguson purchased this House in 2012
Why Wendy Ferguson chose Woodstock
Wendy has lived in Woodstock for 18 years. Having moved here from San Francisco, she was drawn to the town-within-a-city feel of the neighborhood. Most everything one could possibly need is within walking distance, and most of the shopping gets done on foot. Woodstock is also a fabulous place for families, and the recreational opportunities within just a few miles are truly amazing. We bought this house with my parents so they could visit for long stretches. When they're not here, we want to share the house with others eager to visit this great piece of Portland. We're very flexible hosts, and will give you as much or as little direction as you desire. Already familiar with the area and just need a comfortable place to work or relax for a bit? We'll hand you the keys and leave you to it. Never been to Portland and need ideas for food and fun? The house is stocked with guidebooks and maps and we'll bend your ear as long as you'd like to listen (we have lots of opinions!).
What makes this House unique
We love the easy access to Safeway and Trader Joe's and New Seasons with its unique rooftop dining area for grocery shopping, and the many restaurant choices all within walking distance. The park down the street and other walking trails enhance our enjoyment of the area. And we love “antiquing” in Sellwood and Westmoreland. OMSI is a favorite outing with our granddaughter.

We stayed here for 3 months while our own home was being remodeled.
It was an excellent choice. The house had everything we needed.
The house is well furnished, well supplied and very well organized, including books, jigsaw puzzles and games.
Nice little fenced side yard with a protected overhang covering a picnic table and barbecue.
There is a big park 2 blocks away with a no fence off leash dog area.
Just a few blocks to New seasons Market and Safeway. Cloud City Ice Cream next to Safeway with great ice cream. Grand Central Bakery just another block away. Good restaurants also walking distance.
Wendy was very responsive for any issues that came up.
We were very happy with the entire stay.
Thank you for taking such nice care of our home. We're so pleased you enjoyed your time and got a good taste of the neighborhood as well.
Best VRBO ever
All the important features of a short term rental are covered here. This VRBO is CLEAN, COMFORTABLE and CONVENIENT. It lacks nothing and has everything. Rent it with confidence. You will not be disappointed.
So happy to have people stay who love the house as much as we do, and care for it like their own home. We especially love being a hub for neighbors, helping family connect. So glad you had another great visit!
We spent two months in this wonderful home, and felt very much at home from Day 1. The house is fully equipped, which makes living there easy. The location - near stores and bus lines - is perfect. And the owners could not be more helpful.
We're so happy to have such lovely people making this their home away from home. Many thanks, again!
The Perfect home for our Portland Stay
My husband and our two young children, ages 4 and 2, stayed in this rental for 6 weeks this summer. Wendy was superb with communication both before our stay and during. The home was clean, charming and outfitted with everything we needed from laundry soap to a coffee bean grinder to a stroller for our little one. There was a wide array of toys, books and puzzles for our kids to enjoy, and we had tons of fun grilling, laying on the hammock and picking blueberries in the backyard. This rental is walkable to a great park, a library (you can take your little ones to story time even if you don't have a library card), an ice cream shop, coffee shop and a few nice grocery stores and restaurants.
It is a short drive from tons of things to keep you occupied during your stay from trails to hike, waterfalls to visit and lovely indoor museums. Portland is a foodie's dream location, a coffee lovers haven and a beer brewers paradise.
During a hot spell the air conditioner stopped working and Sue had someone to the house to fix it within an hour! Both Wendy and Sue have done a great job setting up this place and making sure tenants are comfortable. I would highly recommend this home to anyone wishing to stay in Portland for a spell. You will not be disappointed! My only regret is that we couldn't stay longer. If we go back to Portland, we will definitely plan to stay here again!
We're so glad we could be your home away from home. It was lovely to have your family and we appreciated your patience when we had to deal with house challenges. We hope you have reason to come stay again!
A True Home Away From Home!
My husband and I spent several weeks in Portland, staying in this lovely house. Wendy was wonderful to deal with and she had thought of everything we might need to make our stay perfect. We chose this location to be within walking distance of our son's home and of the up-and-coming Woodstock area that has restaurants, grocery stores, and interesting shops. We highly recommend this location for a perfect stay.
We so enjoyed having you at the house, again! Thank for you taking such nice care of everything in your home away from home.
Peaceful and home away from home
I already gave a review but noticed I only gave 4 stars instead if 5 stars. This vacation home is a 5 star place.
We're so glad the house worked out so well for your family gathering. Thank you for the five stars!
