This Location Can't Be Beat
The best part about this home is obviously the amazing view from EVERY window in the house. The location is breathtaking, and we loved watching the boats and even the airplanes (FYI, the Groton/New London Airport is nearby but the sounds of the planes did not disturb us at night at all.) We spent much of our time exploring and kayaking at Jupiter Point Beach, a private area used by only a few homes on the point, including this rental. However, it is VERY rocky; bring water shoes! We liked Eastern Point Beach, a local sandy beach that was only a few minutes away by car ($20 to park). We loved that the kids had a large grassy area to play on in the yard, but beware if you have little ones: there is a rock wall that can easily be scaled, and only a flimsy fence where the rock wall ends. The house was spacious and fit 8 of us easily. The kids loved having their own floor upstairs, complete with a full bathroom! The house's interior and exterior are dated, however, and could be just as spectacular as the location if the owners did some updating. Our biggest inconvenience was the mice problem...we caught two and the owners' traps caught two others during our stay. I was disappointed that this hadn't been remedied before our stay, since mouse droppings were mentioned in an earlier review this summer. The owners were VERY responsive, though, arranging an exterminator and even arriving at the house to empty a mouse trap. If some minor things were taken care of at this property, we would definitely stay here again!
A front door on the water
With Pine Island Marina and Bluff State Park surrounding us along with one of the best weeks of weather this summer we had a wonderful vacation. Our spot on the point offered us awesome views of kayackers, fishermen and the flora of the barrier islands. Pilots practicing touchdowns and takeoffs from the airport became background noise as our week progressed. Our granddaughter commented each morning that the lights outside her room twinkled, "fairies are here too". The beach, although rocky was gently sloping for walking, wading, swimming and launching our kayaks. The kitchen was well appointed with spices and paper products were also available. The house was clean and baths fresh when we arrived. We had an issue with the hot water supply but within an hour of contacting the owners hot showers were plentiful. All in all a wonderful spot to listen to the waves, smell the tang of the sea air and enjoy time with friends and family.
Waterfront Beach House
Beautiful views out of every window of the house. Although a little bit dated, we enjoyed this house and the private beach just steps away.
Great location, great house for family getaway.
Wonderful. Highly recommended
The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly
1. The owners were very quick to respond to any and all questions.
2. The view: this home is surrounded on 3 sides by water and provides some of the most amazing views anybody can imagine. There is plenty of room inside and outside to take in the view.
3. The owners provided household fans, cleaning items, spices, etc. which made the stay there easier.
4. This is a convenient location to other sights in New England (Boston, Salem, Rhode Island, etc.).
1. The house looks very contemporary in the photos, but it is quite old and dated.
2. There is an airport adjacent to the house. At some point, you will likely be awakened by a jet taking off or landing. It is a minor inconvenience.
1. As mentioned earlier, the house is quite old and dated. As such, there is no air conditioning. The house has plenty of windows, and there is almost always a breeze, so it does not become too hot and stuffy. Because it is surrounded by water, the house feels damp inside. In fact, there were nights where the bed was quite damp due to the humidity.
2. Upon arriving at the house, we were greeted by a foul smell. It is probably due to the aforementioned humidity issue. Upon further inspection, we found that the house was not very clean. There were dirty dishes in the dishwasher, dirty utensils in the utensil drawer, and the floors and bathrooms were not very clean. We found mouse droppings on the kitchen table.
In summary, although this house offers a fantastic location and views, I cannot recommend this house as a rental. I personally would not rent there again.
We are so sorry that you did not enjoy your stay in our home and that you found the house dirty. I wish you had said something right away so I could have addressed the situation. I have a cleaning crew that I oversee and it is alway left impeccably clean. The floors are washed before every new turn over and I have never had any complaints about the cleanliness. I am sorry it was too old and outdated for you. My dad built the house in the 40's so it is not a brand new house. I think the pictures on the website show the house very clearly. We find that our renters are usually there for the beach experience and views and not the plushness of the house. I hope you can find something more acceptable on your renting journey.

Quiet and relaxing
This place is so quiet and calming. We had a great family vacation. The neighbors were friendly. The little beach is small and rocky but ok. We did go down the road to east point beach (I believe that is the name) and that is a great beach for children. The views are spectacular. Watching the sun set with a glass of wine..so relaxing!
There is something for everyone in the Jupiter Point area. For the history buff, we have a rich maritime and naval heritage as Groton is the Submarine Capital of the World! For the shoppers, we are situated in the middle of New London and Mystic, which have unique shops and boutiques that sell something for everyone. If a lazy day at the beach is more of your style, enjoy an easy walk to plenty of public beaches, or chose the luxury of staying at the quaint private beach seconds from your beach house rental. Lastly, the Long Island Sound is home to more than 1,200 species of invertebrates and 170 fish species, which is fun for families and fishermen alike.
