What a mess

  • 1 of 5

The property was listed as beachfront with childsafe walk in entry.  It is not beachfront at all.   It has a very poorly maintained metal seawall with an extremely dangerous entry into the water. It's a steep step down onto slippery,  huge scattered broken concrete slabs with sharp metal rods.  Not safe for any age.   When I mentioned this I was ignored, although the description was modified and the deception was later denied.   I have screen shots of the original description as well as pictures of the waterfront.

There are so many other things that are wrong it's hard to get into them all.   The property is slapped together as cheaply as possible with bare minimum furnishings,  is not maintained or cleaned properly.  Improper coverage on pillows and beds, non working smoke detector, many lights don't work, no night side tables, only one dresser for 4 bedrooms, weak wifi,  gigantic spider infestation and  messy webs everywhere.   Tv offers a poor selection of free over air digital channels with vcr, No dvd player.   Tv died during last renters stay but wasn't replaced until our third night.   Three kids - no beach,  no tv.   Air conditioning doesn't cool second floor adequately even when it's freezing on the first floor.   One night we returned to a ridiculously hot house.   Power had gone out and since the battery was dead in the thermostat the system needed to be reset and reprogrammed to work.   Master bath is tiny and dysfunctional.   The cheap shower head is poorly placed and when I tried to adjust it so the water stayed in the stall rather than spray all over the floor it broke off.   I emailed the property owner letting him know that I honestly didn't apply unnecessary force.  Also mentioned that plastic blinds broke, when trying to raise them they just fell to pieces.   Honestly all we did was pull the rope.  no reply.  To our surprise $200 was kept from our damage deposit to fix both items.   These breakages were not due to excessive force.   If anything we should have been offered some money back for the deception and inconveniences... Our family has been renting holiday houses for years &  have never broken anything.  We are very respectful, tidy and easy going.   This place was just unreal. I thought we were on candid camera.   Hopefully the management will address some of these issues for future renters. Although the dishonest character will remain. Beware. Your deposit is not in good hands.

Owner's Response: I have replied to you by email. The shower and blinds were new in 2015. Damaged was caused by you /your family and charged as such. I have not kept a cent of any other renters deposits this year as no damages were caused. A brand new 50 inch flat screen was replaced within 48 house of your check in. Adam

A must stay!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in the cottage for 10 days and had the most wonderful time! The pictures don't do these beautiful sunsets justice -- it is a very peaceful place to be with little to no one around. It is only a 5 minute drive to Belleriver where you can access everything you need- it is super easy to get around town. Kate had all sorts of beach toys for our 2 year old to play with which was great since we couldn't pack a lot of our stuff. She also pointed us in the right direction re: restaurants, shopping and town activities. We loved it because it was such a mellow town with a lot to do rain or shine. We ate all our breakfasts and lunches at the cottage and cooked a few dinners, and her kitchen had everything we needed. The bed was very comfortable and it was so light, it was nice being able to be woken up by the early morning sun, so we didn't waste any of our time there. We are definitely going to go back and stay at some point in time because it was just the kind of place that you can visit over and over again. I highly recommend this property and thanks to Kate for making it extra special!

Reichter Wedding

  • 4 of 5

My family rented this lovely lake front home for our wedding. It easily slept all 9 of us with room for more. Family from New York, Ontario, Wisconsin, and Florida could not get over the beautiful lake front setting. Right on cue every morning as the sun was rising over the trees the reflection of the water was breathtaking. All the comforts anyone would ever want are provided and the home is spotless. All kitchen supplies, furniture, bedding and towels were supplied and of great quality for use - just like being at home. Even those of us living here in Ontario appreciated staying here; it was a different atmosphere seeing the water everyday - very calming. When it was time to leave, everyone voted for coming back to this exact spot for a vacation this summer is a must. Thanks Kate, for offering such an inviting property. Also the location couldn't be more convenient to visit Windsor for shopping and the casino if that is what interests you, you’re only a short drive maybe 35 minutes. Kate is a great owner who takes pride her vacation rentals and can answer any questions or concerns you might have.

Fantastic Stay! Highly Recommend!

  • 5 of 5

My husband, 3 kids (2, 4 and 11), my parents (in their 60s) and I stayed at this beautiful lakefront cottage. It has a perfect location, just minutes away from Belleriver Village and all the shops, supermarket, Tim Hortons, Spa, etc. While in town we drove to the kids park at Belleriver Marina often, our kids loved it. It was a wonderful experience & the town is so clean. The cottage/home is clean and has everything you would need. My husband and I as well as my parents slept upstairs in two of the 3 queen beds, and our kids slept in the main floor room with bunk beds, which was super comfortable. Kitchen is well stocked. It was really a great experience and the it was absolutely perfect for our much needed getaway. We got really lucky with great weather & wish we could have stayed longer. We will be returning this coming summer (2013) for sure. I AM HIGHLY RECOMMENDING THIS RENTAL PROPERTY!!!

Breath taking views that we won't soon forget!

  • 5 of 5

We arrived back home from our stay at the lake house and we wanted to write to let others know of the fabulous stay and experience that we had at this property. We rented the lake house for a family gathering and it was the perfect place. There were 10 people (5 adult couples) and 4 babies. The house was definitely spacious enough for all of us. Three of the rooms have queen size beds, a fourth room has double bunk beds, and a fifth in the great room which is a pull out futon. We brought three pack-n-plays with us for the babies and each fit nicely in the rooms with the queen beds. The living/great room is very cozy and we were all able to sit and chat comfortably. There is also a very nice veranda where we spent many an evening talking and laughing. The beach is perfect and we had many great days there, we also loved the fire pit (the bonfire with smores is a MUST). The kitchen is very well stocked and we cooked dinner all but one night (the grill and decking area’s outside are wonderfully spacious as well). The beach is shallow and great for little wee ones to play and swim, Adults can walk out quite far before they are treading water. The owner was very accommodating and personally greeted us and checked us out, which we thought was a very nice personal touch. We can't stress enough how much we enjoyed our stay. We would definitely recommend this house to any who are interested. The pictures don’t do this property justice. We are missing the beautiful views & sunsets already...

We will be back!

  • 4 of 5

My Family and Friends arrived at the cottage to find a very large and spacious place. It was very clean and had all the amenities that keep you comfortable as if you were at home. The cottage has a large front & side yard for the kids to run and play all day when they weren't swimming in the shallow water. The service was excellent while we were there and having the owner on site when we arrived was a bonus to show us in & answer our questions directly. The lake is amazing - so warm and the cottage sits on one of the most desirable spots on Lake St Clair. We all had a excellent time and we cant wait to go back. I would recommend this place to anyone. To the owners Thank You for the use of the cottage it was a wonderful time had by all. Tks Suttherly Family and Friends
