Door County: God Vacations at Shalom Stone

Bedrooms Studio
Property type cottage
Minimum Stay 3 nights

About the property

Cottage, Studio + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 6)

Shalom Stone is a simple, small cottage. During the day it is all living space, at night all sleeping space: 2 sofa hide-a-beds downstairs and one upstairs. Enjoy the upstairs wood-burning fireplace or the outside fireplace and/or fire pit on cool evenings.

Located within spitting distance of the Cana Island Lighthouse on Lake Michigan, the view from our cottage is so spectacular that photos have been taken from our waterfront for the Door County calendar and the Coleman Outing Products catalogue! Enjoy the pristine waters of Lake Michigan. Dive nearby shipwrecks. Watch 1000-foot freighters steam their way to/from Deaths Door or turn toward the Straits of Mackinac. Enjoy the 475+ acres of State-owned natural boreal forest across the road where deer and other wildlife cavort in their natural habitat. On clear nights you may see stars previously hidden from your eyes.

All the wonderful features of Door County surround you: shopping, golfing, fishing, sailing, beach bumming, cross-country skiing. Desire culture? Peninsula Players, American Folklore Theater, Door Shakespeare, and Door County Auditorium as well as numerous art galleries are mere minutes away. Door County has more State Parks and shoreline than any other county in the United States: truly a unique place to visit and enjoy - and our Shalom Stone is in the middle of it all!

Super cute with a gorgeous view — especially upstairs.

This is a cozy place with a wonderful deck and backyard. It is very close to the lighthouse and the water. The circular staircase and upper level are charming. There are windows everywhere!

Exceeded our expectations!

A little piece of heaven!! Shalom Stone had everything you needed to destress from your every day life. The home was very well cared for and comfortable. It was so nice not having the distraction of cell phones, internet and TV. The sounds of the waves and the view were awesome and all we needed!

Took our 2 kids ages 12 and 13. They were not impressed when I told them no TV, no Wi-Fi. They loved it. Quaint cottage, everything you need is there. Previous tenants cleaned cottage well as did we prior to leaving. Not much beach with water high this year but view is beautiful. If you want a true get away, this is a nice spot!

our return to Shalom Stone

  • 5 of 5

This was our first visit to the property in over ten years, and what was appealing about it in the past--the quiet of pre-peak-season June, the dead end road, the sound of the waves, the modest dimensions of the house--remains so.

A lovely relaxing vacation!

  • 5 of 5

Small little house overlooking Cana Island and the lighthouse, on a dead end street. Beautiful and quiet. The cottage feels really homey and is quite comfortable. The upstairs room was chilly at night- there's a fireplace to use as needed. The views from the top room are spectacular! The couch/bed up there is not very comfortable - next time we'll sleep downstairs. The kitchen is very well equipped, and we cooked some gourmet meals of locally caught fish from Bailey's Harbor Fish Company. The water pressure in the shower was great. There are TONS of board games at the cottage and we played every night. There is no cell phone service, and no wifi and we were a little anxious to go technology free at first, but it ended up by being perfect- we talked, played games, read books, and had the most wonderful time. There's a huge house next door, but it was empty so we weren't bothered by neighbors. We walked to Cana Island "after hours" and took the dogs for lots of walks. We can't wait to go back. Thank you Jim!
