Family Hunt Trip Getaway
Great location to plenty of public hunting and fishing areas. Property clean, well maintained and nicely furnished.
We booked the cabin in very short notice. Our contact person was Melissa. She was very nice and helpful. We had issues with our lock and she responded quickly and resolved the issue. Close enough to the lake to enjoy the fun-but far enough away to enjoy the peace and quiet!
Nice cabin in an easy location with a great view
The cabin was cozy and well kept with an amazing view of the country side and private pond. The keyless entry made coming and going easy and being able to have our pets with us at no additional charge was fantastic.
The cabin was very clean and comfortable and included all the necessary kitchen items.
Our stay was very nice but the hide-a-bed in the couch was very uncomfortable. The bed in the bedroom was very comfortable. Loved the area and the openness and that it was pet friendly.
Did not even stay was awful
Double cabin no privacy no where near the lake. Cabin was clean and well maintained but if your looking for a awesome lake cabin experience this is not the place to stay.
Very nice getaway!
Our trip was planned last minute and it was just a couple of days but we really enjoyed the cabin! It's was so nice to be able to include our dogs! We will definitely return and will recommend Foxtail to all our friends!
Thank you for the wonderful review, Christine! We're so glad you enjoyed your stay at the Pheasant Cabin.
If you enjoy the outdoors, you will love Rathbun Lake. With more than 11,000 acres, eight parks, two marinas, and several restaurants and cultural activities nearby, the Rathbun Lake area is a vacation destination for everyone.
As the second largest lake in Iowa, Rathbun is nestled among forested lands, prairies and wetlands preserved to ensure the natural environment. Bald eagles, white-tailed deer, songbirds and other wildlife are prevalent in the area. Rathbun is a flood protection lake managed by the Army Corps of Engineers.
Recreation facilities include boat ramps, camp grounds, picnic areas and playgrounds. The Corps has a Visitors Center that provides information about Rathbun Lake’s natural resources.
The Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) manages both Honey Creek Resort and the original 850-acre Honey Creek State Park. In the future, the DNR plans to link the two parks, which are separated by a cove, with a pedestrian bridge. Honey Creek State Park offers camping, camping cabins, heated shower facility, trails and a boat ramp.
Another DNR facility in the area is the Rathbun Fish Hatchery. The hatchery raises channel catfish, walleye, saugeye and largemouth bass, which are then stocked in other Iowa lakes. Visitors are welcome year-round, including large-group tours with an appointment.
