My husband & I have been married for over 25 years! We were both born & raised in Montana. We have one son, a cat and a dog. We love the outdoors! Some of our favorite things to do are fishing, hunting, hiking, riding dirtbikes, riding our motorcycles, kayaking and rafting.
Cammie purchased this House in 2009
Why Cammie chose Gallatin County
We love where we live as it gives you a country feel, yet downtown, restaurants, entertainment and outdoor activities are so close. Montana is beautiful any time of year and we would like to share its beauty with you.

The house was great. This is our third vacation rental in Bozeman and although those other two were good, this was the best. Even though it's close to town, it was very quiet. The unit is large and everything worked great. And having plenty of parking area with two entrances worked out great for our trailer too.
I loved staying here! Very friendly, a comfortable stay all around. No problems with anything. I was in town for work and stayed for a few weeks, they went out of their way to make sure I had everything I needed. I felt like it was a home away from home, I'll definitely stay again!
Great location, super clean, very comfortable
The on-site owners are great folks, much like the fun and interesting neighbors you always want to spend time with. They maintain their spacious rental to the highest standards — clean, equipped to meet all of of your needs (kitchen, bathroom, linens), videos, CD player (for retros like us), strong, reliable wi-fi, and tons of info on Montana, the Bozeman area and Gallatin Valley. Lots of parking space. Lots of open space that enhances the beautiful views of the Bridger mountain range— all of it! No laundry facilities, but there is a dishwasher that I used more often than I would have used a washer/dryer. If you are looking for a superb and perfectly located Home Away in Gallatin Valley, this is your place! We have stayed here twice, and will choose the Hideaway for all of our Bozeman visits.
watch out for your security/cleaning deposit
The place was nice enough, although above a busy garage with loud machine noise when they opened and closed garage doors. Seemingly multiple times daily, including weekends. And hiking up the stairs to a higher than normal 2nd floor.
The main problem happened days after we checked out with questionable charges against our security deposit. Looks to me to be a classic "Security Deposit Play", I remember them well from College days in Bozeman. We will never stay here again. I would recommend future renters take meticulous photographic evidence of every square foot of the apartment, before and after. Otherwise, plan to give up all or part of your security/cleaning deposit.
I find it very disheartening that when a vacationer leaves our rental in such disarray that they lose part of their deposit, that you feel it is necessary to falsify a review, particularly when upon your arrival and meeting myself you said it was "Very Nice!"
Let me address your concerns/complaints one at a time so future renters will understand.
1. We had every right to keep your entire deposit with the way the rental was left, but only kept $100.00 which does not even cover all of our costs. You spilled a glass of red wine on my tan carpet which has left us with a discolored area, let alone the fact that you did not even bother to wipe down the wall and end table legs where it was spilt. Your wine spill also ruined a travel guide book ($15.95) and 5 Montana magazines and a broken wine glass.
Secondly, your dog peed on our floor a number of times which requires carpet cleaning. He also peed on the corner of our leather couch. It costs us over $100.00 each time we have to have the carpets cleaned.
You also brushed out your dogs cockleburs and left them all over our rental, the kitchen counter and ground in to our area rug. You also left a large sticky spill going down the inside of the refrigerator door. In our opinion, keeping only $100 of your $300 deposit was more than fair. I did email you after checkout regarding these issues and you did not respond.
2. You arrived after 7pm on your check in day and we did not leave at all that evening and the next two days you were gone (before we left)all day and you checked out early on Sunday before we had even used the garage so I am very skeptical that our "comings and goings" were a bother to you as you were never here to witness most of them. We are very respectful of our guests when we need to leave with the vehicle that is stored in the garage, never leaving before 9am and never opening the garage after 9pm.
3. As far as your comment about it being "a higher than normal second floor", I'm fairly certain that you looked at the pictures on VRBO and saw the stairway leading to the rental before booking.
4. I am thankful that VRBO now gives us a chance to rate tenants so that other home owners can be made aware of how rentals are treated. You would not be welcome to stay with us again.
We strive to keep our Hideaway in very good condition and I'm sure if future vacationers were to read through our reviews they will see that you are unjustified in leaving such a poor review.
Perfect for our needs!
The Hideaway is an incredibly clean and comfortable place to stay. The kitchen has everything you need to cook, the bed is comfortable, the seating area is cozy, the views are beautiful and it is so quiet and peaceful! We were visiting our son who is a student at MSU and it is a short drive to town and the university. The Kern's have thought of everything you may need right down to guidebooks for beautiful hikes in the Bozeman area to driving day trips to see the surrounding area. We would love to stay here again!
Thank you for leaving such a wonderful review! We work very hard to provide you with the cleanest rental and everything you may need to make your stay comfortable! We enjoyed meeting all of you and look forward to your next visit!
Love the Hideaway!
Absolutely enjoyed our second time staying at the Hidden Valley Hideaway! The first time was 4 years ago. Cammie and David have maintained this spacious one bedroom apartment nicely.
It was very clean, well furnished and comfortable. We loved the mountain view which seemed to change every hour. We brought our dog and they supplied a dog crate so that we did not have to bring ours from home.
This is one of our favorite places to stay. Thank you David and Cammie for providing a home away from home!
Thank you for taking the time to leave us yet another great review! We are so happy that you chose to stay with us again and we look forward to your third visit!
Bridger Bowl downhill ski area is 20 minutes away. Big Sky downhill ski area is 45 minutes away and we are 90 mins from Yellowstone National Park. Other outdoor activities are within minutes away as well such as mountain biking, X-country ski trails, world class fly fishing, white water rafting and hunting. The Bobcat football stadium is 7 miles away. Bozeman is home to the great Sweetpea Festival! MSU is 7 miles away.
