About Jerry Gold
My partner, Frank, and I had an old victorian home in Denver, but decided that if we were to stay in Colorado, we needed to also connect with the mountains. We searched for a moderate log cabin with a view. We actually got more than we ever imagined. The view is beyond spectacular. Over the years we adopted 4 boys; we have had countless memories with them and our extended family at Golden Grass Estates. Hope you will have your own memories at our little piece of heaven.
Jerry Gold purchased this Cabin in 1985
Why Jerry Gold chose Black Hawk
We chose this area because it was within an hour of Denver and the mountain views in Gilpin County were gorgeous. The cabin was also small enough that we could afford it. We were hoping for a log cabin and a good view. We lucked out! It was only the 2nd one we looked at. We knew immediately that it was the one for us.
What makes this Cabin unique
When we purchased the cabin there was only 1 deck-- ground level. It was adequate, but during the first month when we were on the roof cleaning the chimney, we realized that the view of the Continental Divide from the roof was breathtaking. During the Fall of that year we decided to build a deck at roof level. Many guests have referred to it as the "hawk's nest". It's the cabin's greatest asset. We would love to share it with you.

Lovely Mountain Getaway
We so enjoyed our stay at this well-maintained clean mountain cabin. It is small to be sure and the bathroom is the size of a closet. But the views, the deck, the outside areas and the cozy interior are grand. The owners maintain the bird feeders and it is great fun watching the hummingbirds, red headed woodpeckers, mountain jays, etc. come so close. The location is also easy access to many sights and fun things. And the drive is beautiful to anywhere from the cabin. FYI, we saw two moose moms and babies within a couple of miles of the cabin during our stay!
Thanks for the nice words. After 30 years, wish we were so lucky to see moose around the cabin. Glad you got to enjoy it! Jerry
Cozy cabin with a magnificent deck.
Had a great time with 3 fishing buddies. Jerry was very helpful and present.
Breathtaking views and cozy accommodations
What a wonderful spot. We will definitely be coming back.
wonderful cabin and views!
the photos of this cabin and the great views are accurate and not disappointing. It is obvious that the owner takes great pride in the property from maintenance, furnishings, cleanliness, etc. and wanted us to know about the area and enjoy our stay which was certainly our experience. We stayed 5 nights and enjoyed some of the best views and that "getaway" feeling we were hoping to find. I don't often submit reviews, but I am very glad to say we would not hesitate to return for another stay.
Incredible mountain views, privacy, Broad-tailed hummingbirds = Paradise for a birdwatcher
This cabin was completely ideal for me. The cabin is very simple & small but very comfortable with incredible 360 mountain views from the top deck along with a gorgeous view right from one of the beds on the main floor. The gas fireplace adds to the cozy log cabin feel. The cabin is very neat & clean with a wonderful feeling of privacy without being isolated. The bird feeders mentioned in other reviews were one of the main reasons (that view!) that I chose Golden Grass Estates over other properties & it did not disappoint. The multiple Broad-tailed Hummingbirds zooming around were an absolute joy to watch. The seed feeders attracted many resident birds. Most were on my wish to see list. I was able to watch the sunrise while a full moon still hovered in the sky & the birds visiting the feeders...all right from bed. It was the perfect place to stay for a birdwatcher & nature lover like myself. It must be mentioned that the owners go above & beyond to insure that their guests have an enjoyable stay. The two owners met me very late in the evening to escort me to the cabin to ensure that I did not get lost in the dark. Jerry, one of the very kind & hospitable owners, made sure that he was easy to reach by phone in case of any questions or problems. All of this made for an enjoyable couple of days. The only negative to my stay at the cabin was that my stay was so short! Definitely hope to stay here longer the next time I visit the area. Highly recommend!
The perfect get away from it all cabin!
Not only was the cabin cozy, peaceful, quiet and clean, but it has the most amazing view of the Rocky's. Plus Jerry is the absolute nicest and most hospitable host you could ask for. Went out of his way to ensure our stay was perfect.
Thanks for the nice message. I love giving our best to wonderful people like yourselves. Have a great fall and holiday season. Jerry
