About the property

2 Bedrooms, 2 Bathroom, Sleeps 8

Enjoy the best view in Salmon Arm!

This custom-built cedar log home, perched on Mount Ida at the southern edge of Salmon Arm, offers an ideal blend of urban and rural living. With untouched wilderness to the rear of the property and a gorgeous view of the valley from the front, you will enjoy country living, just a few minutes from all of the amenities offered downtown. You will have miles of beautiful trails, starting from your back door.

The orchard offers fresh fruit throughout the summer and fall, and there is an herb garden available for guests to add fresh flavour to their meals.

The swimming pool is a great place to cool down on a hot, Shuswap day, and several games and outdoor activities are available, such as lawn darts, badminton, bocce ball, a firepit for bonfires, ping pong, croquet, etc. The colours in the fall are spectacular, and the hill behind the house becomes the best sledding hill in town in the winter!

Whether you like hiking, swimming, birding, boating, or just lounging on the deck taking in the million dollar view, you will love it here!

The property is so quiet that it's at first hard to believe downtown is just a three-minute drive away. The most common sounds are from birds, chipmunks and wind chimes. With no light pollution, the night sky is full of stars.

Although we are very pet-friendly, we would appreciate a heads-up about any furry friends you plan to bring.

We are also vehicle-friendly. There is a double, attached garage and outside parking for a number of cars or trailers. Plenty of parking for boats, too!

If you are looking to host a large group, we have a one-bedroom suite at ground-level that can also be rented. It is newly renovated, has a separate entrance, its own kitchenette, lounge, and three-piece bathroom. Contact us for rates. But don't worry, if you choose to just rent the upstairs, you will still have total privacy as we only rent to one group at a time.

This unique home was built by our parents, Bob and Vaughan, as their retirement home in 1989. Children Marianne and Ken, and spouses Mike and Yvonne, now manage the vacation rental home, in an effort to share the view and beautiful log home with visitors to the Shuswap. We all hope you enjoy our family home as much as we do!

What makes this chateau / country house unique

Our log home was custom-designed and built to suit the setting. Nestled into a forested hill, it seems as natural as can be. There are lofty views of the lake and valley from the entire north side of the house - even the garage. Although there are neighbors nearby, they can't be seen from the property.

Amazing girls weekend in a stunning log home. 5*****

We were extremely impressed with this property and couldn't have asked for a more perfect location for our girl's retreat. We were warmly welcomed by our gracious hosts who took the time to show us around the stunning property surrounded by perfectly manicured gardens and lush trees. All of the amenities we needed were provided and we were delighted to have the use of a pool, badminton net, ping pong table and fire pit. The two decks the property boasts were a highlight. We spent the mornings in the sun on the back deck and afternoons on the spacious, covered front deck admiring the beautiful view. The property was very clean and in excellent shape. We highly recommend this property to anyone wanting a peaceful, relaxing getaway.

Beyond our expectations!

  • 5 of 5

A gorgeous log cabin in the woods with an amazing view. We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful setting....and our dogs were in paradise! Situated on 7 acres there were trails to go hiking, fruit trees, a swimming pool, an herb garden and so much more. The house itself was equipped with everything plus more. Beds super comfortable and a large kitchen for cooking.

We will definitely be back....hopefuly next summer with the whole family.

Beautiful, secluded, and homey!

  • 5 of 5

We were so impressed with the log home. The first thing we noticed was the beautiful view out of the kitchen and living room windows. The private garden in the back was also a bonus. It was a bit chilly but we were able to enjoy coffee on the deck one morning and it was glorious. Made even better by the basket of blankets by the door. Everything we needed was available: laundry soap, laundry basket, games, dish soap, coffee, towels, shampoo, you name it - it was there!

On one night, the wifi stopped working. We called Mari-Anne and she came and reset it right away. Our dogs didn’t even hear her downstairs (and they hear everything!).

We would most definitely stay here again, we were very impressed!!

Souls rejuvenated

  • 5 of 5

Another return visit. We are always so happy to stay at the Mountain Chalet midst the log cabin charm. The eclectic furnishings, perfectly imperfect chandeliers, magnificent views and surroundings with trails, a tiny very rustic hobbit house, and the scent of lavender rejuvenate our souls.

Marianne is a wonderful hostess. Thank you so much.

The house was very well equipped with everything you could need. Absolutely spectacular view. It was in a very peaceful area, close to lovely walking trails. Great beaches not to far away and Salmon Arm itself was very close.
