Adequate and reasonably priced
The apartment is as described and we slept well there, also were able to prepare our meals and relax a bit. It is a bit sparsely furnished and was not the cleanest place (some kind of pet hair was obviously not cleaned off the floors before our arrival), but it was adequate for our needs. The place had a few minor maintenance issues such as the light over the bathroom vanity and the sink stopper not working, shower faucet handle falling off, and the electric in the kitchen not being able to support the appliances such that when we turned on the oven the fuse blew leaving us with no refrigeration for almost 24 hours. Our property manager was responsive and helpful though, and did work to resolve some the electric problem as soon as she could. Internet worked well, that was very important! A bit better maintenance and attention to detail and this place would be a five star stay... we enjoyed the quiet neighborhood and deck out back.
Beautiful Apartment in Oakland!!
So, when I drove up and parked, I was a little worried, as it was on a big street, once, I got in, and got situated, it was a wonderful stay, in a beautiful home! The kitchen is huge, the beds are so comfy, centrally located in the Bay Area!...I was really pleased with my stay, Thank you ...and the neighbors are really nice also! Felt really at home...thank you! and I would rent again in a heart beat!!
Nightmare in Oakland
My wife and I recently rented an apartment in Oakland for two months while our condo was being renovated.
It was an absolute nightmare from start to finish.
There were numerous problems with the apartment including cleanliness, hazardous conditions, broken equipment, non-responsive owner / building manager, Theft of our damage deposit, etc
We will be filing a claim in Oakland courts, contacting the Better Business Bureau and notifying the Oakland city building inspector. Avoid at all costs!
Problematic guest with serious anger management issues. Way to volatile to have any productive communication with. Changed locks on building entry doors, broke dining chairs, scratched floors, moved furniture in the apartment, left items in the apartment upon departure. Would not recommend. Extremely difficult guest.
If you are a city dweller, than the location of this property will put a smile on your face.
You are literally steps away from the heart of downtown Oakland. We ate at the best breakfast restaurant everyday and Whole Foods is a 15 minute walk away from the apartment. I truly enjoyed walking around the lake which is again 15 minutes away by foot. The space is quiet and so is the street. We even received a welcome basket with seasonings, teas and instant coffee. Truly made our visit a smooth one and I would do it again next year!
Just one exit from San Francisco. Walking distance to bus and BART, Lake Merritt, Fox Theater, Downtown Oakland, restaurants, cafes, and shopping.
