About Josepha Penrose

My husband and I live only 45 minutes from our vacation house near the ocean beaches of Cape May County, NJ, but choose to spend as much time as possible at the 'other' Jersey Shore, in the Delaware Bay side community of Fortescue. We have found a quiet, natural world and friendly people in Fortescue and believe that once anyone visits, they'll want to return.

Josepha Penrose purchased this house in 2003

Awesome quaint shore house

  • 5 of 5

We were so impressed with this house and the feeling of being at home while we stayed was awesome. Any questions we had were answered right away. And a bonus is there's a washer and dryer!! So since we loved it so much we had to go back this year I'm recommending packing less since you can do your laundry there... So close to the beach and going fishing on the head boats. Actually we use only one captain the "miss Fortescue" and it was awesome... Trying to get a cpl weeks in this year, come and stay you'll love it here!

The Other Shore

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I spent a wonderful 2 weeks at the lesser known side of Jersey. For solitude and nature this is the place. Eagles, Ospreys, and Egrets are a common sight. The sunsets over Delaware Bay are spectacular; each evening we looked forward to riding down to the beach to watch this beautiful event as the fisherman bring their day to a close......Our day trips included: the Sea Glass Festival, Old Greenwich Days, The Wheaton Arts and Crafts festival, and biking in Cape May. This meticulously kept home has been perfect for our quiet, remote getaways.....Far from the crowds, yet a short day trip to Cape May......We love it, five stars!

A nice break;

  • 4 of 5

I travel for business and this little cottage was a nice break from the hotels I normally have to stay in. the owners were easy to work with. Everything was exactly as they said it would be. Sunrises in the morning...home form work in time for a walk around town ending with watching the sunset over the bay. Lots of little stands to buy produce for a home cook meal as a opposed to eating out! A comfortable place to stay.

The sunrise house was truely an amazing vacation for us. The house is cozy and comfortable, everything you need is right there for you. We spent our vacation doing the things we love and relaxing. The fishing town is remarkable, we enjoyed the time spent fishing and crabbing, sight seeing and the wildlife. Jo and Bob are very frienly and do everything they can to make you stay at their house enjoyable. We enjoyed cooking in the big kitchen and relaxing on the deck while the kids played in the family room. If you are looking to simply relax and enjoy your vacation then sunrise house is the place to go. We are looking forward to going next summer and can't wait to see all the local friends we made.

Wonderful Home. Relaxing setting. Quiet, friendly Town. Beautiful surroundings.

  • 5 of 5

As a teen, my family rented homes in Cape May that were always nice, but usually quite cramped. When I made the reservation for the Sunrise House, I expected to find the same experience. This house greatly exceeded our expectations in both size and comfort. Very nicely decorated with room for everyone to be comfortable. 2 couples and 1 11yr old in our group. Outdoor grill and outdoor shower were great! (Shower is a must try!) Used the pull-out couch in the family room and still lots of room. The home itself sits on a spacious lot with no neighbors crowding you. Folks around are friendly and always anxious to meet this weeks guests at the Sunrise House. Enjoyed the fishing (caught striper, blue, oyster cracker, shark, croaker etc. just from shore), crabbing and beach combing right there in Fortescue. Local convenience store has the best ice cream! Higbees cafe has a great breakfast. Many local farm stands to get your fresh produce from.

Excited for and already planning our next stay in Fortescue at the Sunrise House. The home owners made the reservation process simple and were a pleasure to meet and deal with. Give no hesitation to staying here or dealing with them. You'll love your time spent here!

Cozy

  • 4 of 5

Comfortable, clean, personal touches. Close to fishing and has what you need to move in and relax.

Six of us, including kids and we had plenty of room. Would stay again if we're in the area. Cottage is

well cared for in and out. Owners were very easy to deal with and kept up with responses to our ques-

tions and needs. Nice information posted for restaurants, supplies, etc..
