This is the second time I've been to this house. It's a great stay. I would recommend highly.
Six of us stayed here over the Christmas holiday -- five adults and one child -- and it was perfect for us. The bedrooms are downstairs and are spaced so that it feels private. You don't feel like you're "next door" to anyone. The living areas are upstairs and were just the right size for our group. We even had my husband's family over for Christmas dinner--which made a total of 14 people there for a couple of hours--and between the seating at the dining table and the sofas in the living room, we had enough room for everyone and it didn't feel too crowded. Even with Christmas tree, which was an unexpected touch, it was perfect. Additionally, they had a baby gate available for our use, so the toddler wouldn't hurt himself on the stairs. Just another thoughtful touch that made travelling with a toddler that much easier.
The kitchen was well-stocked and had all the pots and pans needed to make a nice holiday meal. Granted, we got ours pre-cooked and just heated it up, but we could have made it ourselves if we'd wanted. Beds are very comfortable and there was plenty of hot water. Washer/dryer worked well and came in handy, and there was detergent available for our use.
As far as location, I can say that having visited the Bay Area every year for the past 10 years, we have stayed in a variety of neighborhoods. This is by far the best. Not only are you right on the beach where you can wake up to the sounds of the ocean each day, but you're also just a few minutes drive from the city. We visited Union Square on Christmas Even and we made it there in just 20 minutes! There are plenty of small shops and grocery stores around for anything you may need.
The home, itself, is beautiful. The wood siding, the outdoor shower, and the sunken jacuzzi tub scream BEACH HOUSE! My husband, being from San Fran, also enjoyed the panoramic photos along the wall in the dining room that show a then-and-now view of the city.
All in all, every detail is considered in this house. I have only stayed in a handful of vacation rental properties, but this one far exceeded all my experience and expectations. As I previously mentioned, the owners put up some Christmas decorations for us, including a tree, since we were there for the holidays. This was such a lovely and unexpected touch and it made our visit even more memorable. I highly recommend this home.
We rented the house for Thanksgivings to spent time with our two sons who live in San Francisco. The house was great and view was more than fabulous. We walked daily along the boardwalk across the street and wandered on to the pier several times. Went to bed every night listening to the waves. Pacifica was a great little town, easy access to shopping, groceries and restaurants. Was an easy drive into the city for some site seeing. And driving south down the coast was fun and beautiful. We fixed a great Thanksgiving dinner at the house, couldn't have been more perfect.
We were a group of 5 elementary school teachers on a weekend getaway to complete report cards. What a beautiful home and location to complete this task. We felt as though we really got away! Thank you so much!
We loved the location of this home, we loved the home itself. Pacifica is a great town! One of our best vacations! Alcatraz, Muir Woods, lots to do in the big city of San Francisco & then go home to a quiet home on the beach.
We were not expecting such a spectacular residence. The view from the living room, dining room and kitchen took our breath away. The ocean was feet away! Modern everything, kitchen, bathrooms entertainment center, comfy seating, lovely lighting. The dining area had a wonderful round glass table with six chairs which fit us perfectly. We marveled at the beautiful decor, the interesting collection of beach treasures. We could not have found a more perfect home to rent. Douglas, the owner was responsive but we did not want for anything. Books were available to guide us to nearby points of interest. The beds were very comfortable and clean. What amazed us as well was the promenade just outside our front door which lead along the pacific coast for nearly a mile. We strolled and had dolphins following us for a mile. At the end of the walk is a great group of hiking trails. We loved that there was a small café, Chit Chat Café, which served great breakfast sandwiches, coffee, yummy deserts and clam chowder. There are three Safeways close and we found a another great eatery, The Devil's Slide Brew Pub and Tap Room, the best Blu Cheese Burger and Sweet Potatoe Fries we've ever eaten. We will definitely be returning next year. Thanks Doug for this memorable opportunity for us five gal pals to enjoy a piece of heaven!
