Borgo la Chiusa was part of an ancient convent just outside the walls of Siena, offering guests wonderful views, peaceful environment and one independent villa and two deliciously restored to detached houses with Siena terracotta floors, stone walls, beamed ceilings and very beautiful finishing touches.
The outside of each house offers a well kept garden, a lovely patio with table, chairs and BBQ for outside eating and relaxing.

Porcilaia was all we expected it to be. We were 2 couples and the 2 bedrooms/2 baths with
the kitchen were just right. The weather was a little cooler than expected and unfortunately we could not make use of the patio for morning coffee. But the view and countryside were just spectacular!
Francesca was there to meet us when we arrived and was very helpful with a
restaurant recommendation and food shopping. A few days later another group came to stay at the larger house and we were able to meet them. It turned out that we met them a few times as we did our day trips and it was so fun to just run into them.
Siena was just a short 15 minute drive as was the train station which we used to go to Florence. We did have a car the time we were there and also went to Montipulciano for
a wonderful day trip.
We loved our time here and would not hesitate to come again if we were fortunate to
go to Italy again.
This was a wonderful property with all the comforts of home. It was roomy and comfortable, very clean and had everything we needed. It was conveniently located near major freeways, within 15 minutes of the historic area of Siena and about an hour 15 minutes from Florence. We traveled all over Tuscany and Umbria with this home as our base and it was convenient for all of our travels.
Francesca thank you so much for sharing your wonderful home with us. The apartment was very nice and well stocked with all of the needed amenities. It was truly beautiful to look out onto the green Tuscan landscape. Thank you for meeting us on our arrival to help us settle in. The location was perfect for our vacation visiting the surrounding hill towns. We sincerely hope to come back one day to stay again!
It was definitely the highlight of our extensive 3-week Italy tour!
The property was indeed delightful in all aspects, the location, the scenery, the property itself, including the rooms, kitchen facilities, and obviously lovingly decorated premises with tasteful details all over the house. We had picked this property as a hub to go on daily visits to Chianti, Pisa, Florence, etc. it was a great pleasure to go back home for pleasant evenings filled with drinks, antipasti, and barbecued dinner.
The only negative was that there was no bath soap or washing machine detergent when we arrived, which is an inconvenience, especially if you come from abroad and have to immediately rush to town to get supplies.
We will recommend Porcilaia to friends around the globe, and hopefully be back ourselves!
Compliments to the owner Francesca, and to Simone for the impeccable communication...
The apartment is lovely, well appointed, spacious, very comfortable. It offers fabulous outdoor spaces as well, just as pictured. Extra bonus is the beautiful view of Tuscany. It is located about a 20 minute drive outside Siena, which is a good location if you are driving around Tuscany. However, there are not any resources close by, like a grocery store, coffee shop, or restaurants. The closest grocery store is a ten minute drive and it was small and didn't offer much. If you are looking for peace and quiet and to get away from it all, this is a great place!
My husband and I were so fortunate to find Porcilia. It was a truly delightful, peaceful place after our stays in Rome and Florence. It was extremely clean and well furnished. We especially enjoyed the outside Tuscan grille. The owner was extremely attentive to our requests. There are several restaurants and a good market nearby. I have raved about it to several people and would love to return when the weather is warmer and we could enjoy the pool and outside patio.
La Chiusa is a small hamlet just outside Siena, the best preserved medieval town of Italy, whose community retains its ancient traditions. A perfect location to relax and visit art cities like Florence, San Gimignano, Pienza, Volterra, the leaning tower of Pisa. Tuscany is the land of Art and Culture, home to Leonardo, Galileo, Michelangelo whose homes, museums and masterpieces you'll be able to admire on a day trip from Borgo Vitignano. Il Palio di Siena, a thrilling traditional horserace, takes place in the centre of Siena every year in July and August. Tuscany is also famous for its red wines. On a day trip you can visit Chianti, Montalcino, Montepulciano, Scansano and why not Bolgheri. For those of you who love unspoilt nature, Maremma is but an hour away. The gorgeous Mediterranean coast is only 70 km away, with Castiglione della Pescaia, Punta Ala, Follonica, La Carbonaia. Perugia in Umbria is only 110 kms away.
