Worked for us Family of 6
Booked the two story loft but later told that it was previously booked so changed to another unit in the same building. We were disappointed. Some issues including a window open when we arrived so Appartment was very chilly -21 outside!
Denis ( from Winnipeg) arrived and helped with the heat. We were impressed with how responsive he was. He also brought an extra space heater that helped greatly!
Overall the unit felt a bit rundown and lacked the character we were expecting but it worked for a family of six. If we came back would like to try the two story loft.
Todd is correct that when he arrived a window was slightky open (the next day we found a children’s plastic toy had gotten stuck in the side of the frame). It had not been noticed when the condo was cleaned the day before because the weather was unseasonably warm and the opening was just a wee crack. But during the day of their arrival, the temperature plummeted.
As soon as Todd’s wife contacted me, my husband rushed over, as Todd said, but he could not get the window closed. So Denis went to the store though it eas 8:30 pm to buy a heater (thank heavens there is a Walmart 15 minutes away!). We were so pleased to hear tgat Todd and his family doubd the heater worked and they were warm.
The next miening I had an expert arrive and he figured out the problem and got the window closed.
The cold snap lasted another 7 days!
As for the booking being changed...as soon as Todd booked I contacted him immediately to explain the calendar mix up. I offered to cancel his reservation (full refund of course) or to consider the other condo in the same 1871 building. This condo was the same size, had the same number of beds and bathrooms, same size kitchen and living room but it definitely had a differwnt layout.
Shabby woukd not be a word I would use to describe this condo. It has been modernised, has 10 foot ceilings, exposed brick walls, crown moukding, tall baseboards, restored hardwood floors, large windows... everything one loves of a heritage building. But, everyone has differwnt tastes and since they had initially chosen the other condo aI can understand their disapponrment. I can only reiterate thqt his request to book and my contact with Todd to explain the issue hapoened very quickly ao no time was wasted if Todd chose to fibd another place.
At least Todd said he would retun. I also sincerely thank him and his family for the nice things they said to Denis and myself.
We all enjoyed ourselves.
The apartment suited our needs perfectly
We stayed at this property for 2 nights to attend a business conference at the Shaw Centre. It was very clean and comfortable. We would stay again in a heartbeat!
Great accommodations for our family of 5
Our first experience with this type of rental -- will certainly do it again!
The rental home is within walking distance of many attractions and downtown Ottawa. It was clean and well equipped. The A/C of the upper floor took awhile to cool the main floor. Would recommend this place. Add a daily parking fee to total cost.
perfect location at a great price
We spent 2 nights at this interesting loft. There were five ladies in my party and we all slept comfortably. We were able to walk to many of the places we wanted to see and definitely got a 10,000 plus steps in. Parking was easy at the ECONO lodge. It would have been nice to some soap in showers. I would definitely recommend this site to any friends traveling to Ottawa.
Walking distance to Parliament Hill, Governor General's Residence, 24 Sussex, Byward Market, U.S. Embassy; University of Ottawa; Cordon Bleu Culinary Arts Institute, Rideau Canal, Rideau Centre; National Arts Centre; National Arts Gallery; Ministry of National Defence, French Embassy, British High Commission, Dept of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, 4 live theatres, 1 rep theatre, parks; 2 large grocery stores, liquor and beer stores, restaurants, bars, night life.
