About Rebecca Minas
My name is Becka, My husband Caro, and I have been dancing tango for more than 15 years. We traveled to Buenos Aires in 2004, just to dance and have fun, but we got lucky and accidentally saw this French Renaissance beauty, which was totally run-down and in a very bad shape. It was love at first sight. We fell in love with it and for two years after that, we traveled to BA many many times and shopped at many antique stores to be able to reface, remodel and revive this beautiful historic apartment. Since then this apartment has been a heaven for us, and many other travelers and visitors. I invite you to come and stay here and experience the elegance of the past and be mesmerized with the beauty and charm of this exquisite apartment. I assure you, you will love it!
Rebecca Minas purchased this Apartment in 2004
Why Rebecca Minas chose Congreso
By staying at this turn of the century apartment, you will feel the elegance of yesterdays, and the comfort of today. All the furniture in this beautiful apartment has been bought from the antique stores and refurbished to make you feel like royalties. Come and enjoy being a King or the Queen of the house. Also by being in the middle of down town, you are close to many activities and fun places and have access to all types of transportations. By staying here, you can certainly feel how this city runs, and can understand the culture of Portenos (people born in the port of Buenos Aires).
What makes this Apartment unique
I remember the first time I saw this apartment... I was so amazed at the beauty and elegance of the walls and intricate wood floors and yet I felt so sorry to see it rundown, and so lonely and damaged. I felt I heard a calling to bring it back to life! . That is why I decided to buy this gorgeous apartment and revive it with modern necessities and make it livable and enjoyable as it used to be. Up to this day, I feel mesmerized by its beauty and elegance, and so privileged to have the chance of staying there. I assure you, you will feel the same…..

Buenos Aires Mini Castle Review
-Rebecca is nice and extremely accomodating. She made our stay hassle free.
-Apartment size is perfect for 4-6 person group. Complete with kitchen and dining room which makes it great -for family cooking/dining.
-Building was built over one hundred years ago, so if you are looking for modern, high quality facilities, this is not the place for you.
-Location of apartment is in a fairly rough part of the city. I would recommend people in search of restaurants/bars/clubs spend their time in Palermo or Puerto Madero.
-One could argue that the price could be cheaper based on location, but it is reasonable considering the size of the apartment.
From the moment I spoke with the property owner, met the property manager....this was the nicest place I have ever been too. It was amazing. We felt extremely safe in the neighborhood, felt as if we owned the property. Close enough to everything. WIFI was perfect. Great location to explore Buenos Aires. Beds are very comfortable. With such a large apartment, we spent most of our time while in the apartment in the sitting room which we loved. Balconies were great to people watch while have my morning coffee. Long story short, I'm in Love!
Can't wait to go back.
Such sweet words!!!! Thank you Mike! I am so very happy you have had such a good time in my home far from home :) I know how you feel because that is how I feel every time I am there, rejuvenated and happy. I sure hope you will plan to come back and this time, stay for a longer period of time, so you enjoy the wonderful beauties the city of Buenos Aires cane reveal to you.
Maybe you will plan to come over again, at a time that we are leaving so we can meet :)
Until then, as they say,
Thanks for a great stay in Bs. As.
Our group had a wonderful stay at the Congreso property. It was spacious, clean and very comfortable (the air conditioning was wonderful during hot summer evenings). Rebecca was very helpful and answered any question we had. I would highly recommend this apartment.
I am very glad you and your group had a good time at my place, and stayed cool during this very hot summer :) Thank you for your beautiful review, and I hope you will come back to stay with us again.
Decent Apartment, OK Neighborhood
I traveled through S. America with my family (total of 8 people) and stayed in Buenos Aires for 4 days. I saw this place on VRBO because of the number of bedrooms, and it was a lot cheaper per room than hotel options. We stayed at this apartment for 4 nights.
The apartment itself is really beautiful - there is a lot of space and the decor of the rooms all make you feel you went back in time. The wifi is decently fast and there are great channels on the cable box, though you really should be exploring the city. Having laundry machines in the apartment that we didn't have to pay for was a huge plus, Buenos Aires was in the middle of our trip and we could pack just a week of clothes (we traveled for 17 days). This allowed us to travel with carryon-sized luggage, which for city-hopping was very helpful. At a hotel, doing laundry in the hotel for a week of clothing could cost you upwards of 150$ per person.
There is a security gate to the apartment complex and several bolts in the front door so we felt secure. The neighborhood itself (barrio Congreso) is not the greatest, with gratuitous graffiti sprayed everywhere, degrading the original beauty. I would recommend not walking alone at night, especially if you are a woman. I feel like this neighborhood (not the apartment) made us enjoy the city less because it gave us an impression of the whole city being unsafe. Had we stayed in Puerto Madero, Palermo, or Recoleta, I believe we would have greeted the city with more optimism. Granted, one should take caution and watch out for petty thieves when traveling in Buenos Aires.
Three of five the bedrooms we had available were along the street and the windows were not soundproof, it sounded like the windows were wide open. Those rooms could have used some double-pane glass. Trucks ran along the adjacent street in the middle of the night maybe every 15-30 minutes, and for light sleepers this would be bothersome. The other two bedrooms were pretty much soundproof but they received no natural light.
We had the misfortune of the whole apartment complex losing power on our first day, which was bothersome. The apartment also was not stocked with soap and toilet paper, which we had to provide on our own. The bed sheets we had available could have been cleaned better, there were some stains here and there.
I want to go back to Buenos Aires again, and I want to stay in a new neighborhood to see if I would have a different feel for the city.
Hidden Gem in a great location
I've stayed here at least three times already and there's a good reason why:
This place is located in the perfect spot. If you're a public transportation kind of person like I am, it's literally 1 block OR LESS away from most of your bus lines and the main street of Rivadavia. It's about 2 blocks away from the popular subway A line, which will take you to other popular districts you want to go to. Walking distance to every type of store for your needs. You're half a block away from food, 1 block away from a famous restaurant, and two skips away from a haircut.
I really like the high ceilings and chandeliers in the place. There's a lot of attention put into the detail of the place; such as color coded rooms and antique dressers. Even the couch is something I want to take with me home ;)
Aside from how I feel about the place, the biggest plus to staying here was the impression I made on the locals whom I invited over. They tell me I live in a museum and they think I'm a millionaire :D Works like a charm when I need to do business or impress a date.
If there's anything I could complain about, i'd say the walk from the living room to the kitchen is 2 seconds too long. But that's just me, I'm lazy like that ;)
All in all, don't be fooled by the facade, the old doors and the squeaky elevator.. this place is a hidden gem in the heart of Buenos Aires.
You are so sweet! What a nice letter and beautiful words, thank you :) I loved having you stay here again and again. It was my pleasure <3
As to the long walk to the living room... next time, I will get a scooter for you :)))
Stay in Baires
I stayed here and loved every minute of it. Such beauty; such a convenient location. It's really the hip place to stay when you visit Buenos Aires.
Thank you honey, It was sure hip to have you here and share good times with you :)
This apartment is located in the middle of the city of Buenos Aires :) Welcome to downtown Buenos Aires! Please note: This Jewel is NOT in Palermo, nor in Barrio norte or Recoleta!!! This turn of the century Jewel is located in down town Buenos Aires, barrio de Cogreso, which is a busy neighborhood, and just because of that, you are close to the most authentic version of life (not truistic) in Buenos Aires. You are in the middle of many great Shopping malls, as well as small shops, and fantastic turn of the century restaurants, such as Café de Los Angelitos right next door! Also, since you are in downtown, you are very close (walking distance) to many famous Milongas (Tango clubs) and salsa clubs as well. This beautiful apartment is one block from Rivadavia, 3 blocks from Callao and 3 blocks from Corrientes which is the Broadway street of Buenos Aires, where many fantastic shows are being shown on nightly basis. There are many types of transportations right around this apartment. Taxis are abundant, as well as buses, and there are subway stations on all 3 major streets named. In minutes you can visit the Famous Colón Theater, walk through the Plaza de Mayo while feeding the pigeons, and drink café con crema in the famous Café Tortoni where Gardel and Borges used to have coffee. By taking the subway you can visit the zoo, the beautiful botanical gardens, as well as the Japanese garden, and the huge rose garden in Palermo. Don’t forget the Recoleta cemetery and the fantastic shopping mall and museums in that area. There is much to see and appreciate in Buenos Aires and you are so close to all of them! Enjoy!!!!!
