About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms, 1.5 Baths, (Sleeps 6)

Our house is located in historic Mariposa downtown and is a perfect location to return to during your visit to Yosemite National Park. We offer a fully equipped kitchen. The house has three bedrooms each with a queen bed, one bedroom has an attached half bath, and another with a sliding glass door to the back deck. The living room has a beautiful wood stove with views of the mountains above Mariposa. We are located on a quiet street and neighborhood. We are walking distance to many great restaurants and downtown shops. The town of Mariposa offers many activities in the summer for travelers, such as live music and festivals. Just two blocks from public transportation, leave your car and avoid trying to find a parking spot in Yosemite.

We have just newly remodeled the house with local wood flooring.

About The Owner

Ken and Schree Yager meet in Yosemite and have chosen the area to raise our family. Ken, a former rock climbing guide is the founder of Yosemite Climbing Association and sponsor of the Yosemite Facelift, an annual clean up of Yosemite National Park on Public Lands day. Schree works for a non-profit that connects youth to the natural world. We both love the park and the mountains and rivers that surround it.

The Owner purchased this house in 1996

Why The Owner chose Yosemite Area

We purchased this house because it is close to Yosemite National Park and we like the historic downtown Mariposa. We also enjoy the views of the mountains from the house.

What makes this house unique

We are two blocks away from public transportation to Yosemite National Park

Great location for visiting Yosemite. Clean and comfortable. Very friendly, accommodating owner.

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 4 (me, husband and two teenage daughters) stayed here to visit Yosemite. The house was in a good location for visiting the park and Mariposa, while small, has everything you need for an easy stay (grocery store, health food store w good sandwiches, a couple of decent restaurants, and a few shops). The beds were very comfortable and the house was clean. The house is definitely not fancy, but it had everything we needed and the home owner was very nice and flexible. Who needs fancy, when what you came to see is Yosemite? And it goes without saying that Yosemite is amazing and beautiful and completely lives up to expectations.

Cute, clean house in a quiet neighborhood near Yosemite

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed staying at this house for a week long vacation. The house was clean and comfortable. Each room had it's own air conditioning unit so everyone stayed cool. The house is in an awesome location. It's close to Yosemite (about a 45 minute drive) and also 3 hours from the beach so we woke up really early one morning and spent the day in Santa Cruz and visited Henry Cowell State Park to see the redwood trees. There were plenty of towels and bedding for everyone. The living room was large enough to accommodate everyone for watching a movie or visiting. We played games at the dining room table. Having a washer and dryer on site was a plus so we could do laundry as needed. We also spent one day at Rainbow Pools, an awesome swimming hole about an hour away. (It's on Google maps) I would recommend bringing pools towels for a day of swimming at the beach or Rainbow Pools. The house is stocked with lovely white towels that we didn't want to use outside of the house so I made a trip to Rite Aid and purchased towels for the beach. As far as Yosemite, we spent three full days in the park and could have easily spent more since there is so much to see and do.

We walked down the hill one evening and got milkshakes at the Happy Burger Diner and Pioneer Market is just across the street for groceries. We stopped at Costco in Merced, however, and stocked up on food before we arrived. (The only thing we lacked was salt and pepper shakers and napkins.) The kitchen had everything we needed for making meals throughout the week. We grilled burgers outside one night.

I highly recommend staying at this property. We didn't have a need to contact the owners during our stay but they communicated with us well before our arrival and left detailed instructions and tips for a worry-free stay.

Enjoy!

Spacious, clean, great location

  • 5 of 5

I love its fantastic location in Mariposa. It is just a street away from the main road so you don't hear any traffic, yet it is just a 2 min walk to 2 restaurants down the road and the downtown area. Very convenient for buying food-to-go after a long day in Yosemite. I would love to stay here again.

A wonderful place to come home to after a stroll and hiking in Yosemite.

  • 5 of 5

This great home has it all. Close to town and no more than 2 blocks from the bus station (YARTS). It had everything my three step kids, husband, toddler, and I needed for the three nights stay. I woke up early and took the car to Yosemite with provisions, and while waiting for the rest of the family to arrive later on the bus, I was able to get some ME time in Yosemite. At the end of the day it was nice to return to a comfortable home and comfy beds. I arrived back at the house prior to the clan and by the time they returned I had dinner ready and the meat ready for the grill. We could not ask for a better place to stay. Thank you Schree Yager!

Great experience for a large family or group!

  • 5 of 5

The house is lovely, arrangements very efficient, response from owner always timely, helpful and informative during reservation process and the reading materials on hand were wonderful for bored or tired adults at various times. (Literature on hand for children, too.) We were 6 adults enjoying Yosemite during the day and the town was as described for all conveniences, whether cooking/grilling at home or eating out before and/or after our venture into the Park.
