Spacious apartment with an amazing view
The apartment is very spacious and well equipped. The view of the sea is spectacular, in the day seeing the boats sail back and forth, front row view of the sunset and after dark with all the twinkling lights along the coast line.
Hilary was a pleasure to deal with, responding quickly to my many queries. We arranged our transfers from the airport through her and like many of the other reviews were so glad we did. Mr V was waiting for us when we got there and we went on to arrange trips to the national park to see the waterfalls (a real highlight) and also a visit to Split with him too. Again he was really helpful and full of local knowledge and suggestions on things we might find interesting. On the way back from Split he took us to visit the ancient ruins of Salona, which we found fascinating.
The pool was small and although not heated was not too cold. It was generally very quiet and often we were the only ones there when we used it, which we did quite a bit when not out sightseeing. There are many local restaurants and several nearby supermarkets.
The beach is a 10 minute walk (less than a 1,000 steps for those that use a Fitbit) but is very steep and hard work on the way back particularly in the heat even if you are relatively fit. We tended to use the supermarket and bakery in the village which although was about 1,500 steps was a much easier walk. We also tried to go either early morning or later in the evening to avoid the heat.
We also did the 3 island boat trip with the blue lagoon, which was nice and we were very lucky as saw two dolphins.
Trogir is worth a visit with interesting architecture, the local market and lots of restaurants. We took the boat which was 20 kuna each person one way.
My top tip would be take plenty of cash in local currency (Croatian Kuna). We found the majority of places only took cash, even some of the restaurants and all the trips we did required payment in cash. Even when we went to Split and bought an ice-cream in a shop they only accepted cash.
It is a beautiful area, only 15 minutes from Split airport with lots to see and do.
Great location and perfect venue
Clean and tidy, lovely view of the sea from the balcony and a short walk to the beach and restaurants. There is no bbq and hasn't been for a number of years, which was disappointing as it is still advertised as having a bbq. Lovely small pool, which the children loved playing in. If you want a quiet place to stay and don't mind walking up steep hills then this will be the perfect place for a family to stay.
Mark delighted you enjoyed your holiday. The BBQ was damaged the summer before last and had to be thrown out. We have struggled since then to find a good quality gas BBQ. We have checked each summer and my husband checked again when he was over in Sept. As most of the Croats use brick BBQs the market for gas BBQs is small. The only ones we've found were poor quality and in excess of 1000 euro. We do not advertise a BBQ on the website. We removed the BBQ from the apartment description last summer. For guests who enquire about a BBQ, we redirect them to Bozena as she is happy for guests to use her large brick BBQ oven.
So apologies for any confusion and hope it didn't take away from your holiday.
Lovely spacious apartment with stunning views
Apartment was really spacious and having 2 bathrooms was a real plus with 5 adults sharing. Really well equipped kitchen that had everything we needed. Was great to have such big balconies, plenty of room for everyone to enjoy the afternoon and evening sunshine as well as watch some spectacular sunsets. In the hot Summer months I imagine you would need some blinds/canopy to pull down to give some relief from the hot sun.
Overall we had a great week, despite some iffy weather, and it was lovely to be back in the pretty and peaceful area of Okrug.
Spacious accommodation with a great view
The apartment was more than big enough for our party of five, with a lovely view over the surrounding area. The walk up to the apartment from the beach is very steep, and I found it hard work, which didn't get any easier as the week went on! The pool area has 7 sunbeds and on the 4 occasions we used the pool we were the only ones. We took the boat into Trojir several times, which we all loved. We also drove to Krka national park, which was good, but over priced, and would have been better later in the year when there was more water on the falls.
Exactly as advertised :)
We just came back from two week holiday (first in Croatia) and we were very happy with the apartment and service that came with it.
The apartment itself was perfect for our group - 2 senior citizen, 2 adults and three kids. It had enough space and all the comforts we needed. Although can't vouch for TV or music system since we never had time to turn them on. The outside grill was a nice touch and even if not the latest model it got the job done easy enough and we did use it to make a lunch or dinner several times. The pool is very handy and we all used it several times on early evenings after coming back from beach. It is also a a good alternative for those who don't want to walk or take taxi uphill on hot days. The only surprise for us was that the main fuse will "blow" is all the ac + oven + washing machine are in use simultaneously - but this we could have guessed. The solution was to turn some of them off and flip the main fuse back on in the fuse box located just inside the apartment high on the left wall.
Bozena was as helpful as stated here before. She even hooked us up with WiFi the first day.
The tourist Assistance Service (Vjenceslav Raukar) that Bozena arranged to pick us from airport was great and I highly recommend using them during your stay. The prices are fair but the real value comes from service. Reliable, friendly (the kids called him our Croatian Uncle) and helpful. On the way to apartment we were shown the location of supermarkets, restaurants and walking paths + with very reasonable price we were driven to supermarket and back with loads of drinks and food. We were also recommended some day trips and offered transportation services for them. Even that I usually drive a rental I was very happy to just sit back and relax and let the local pro handle it this time. We went with them to waterfalls and rafting (Omis) + trip back from Split (went there by taxi-boats). Highly recommendable trips all.
The old town of Trogir is a UNESCO world heritage centre and is a maze of narrow cobbled streets, full of small intimate restaurants, bars and ice-cream parlours. Lovers of cultural and historical monuments, original architecture and art can wander around at their leisure, soaking up the history. The waterfront, with its long promenade, bars and restaurants is particularly popular at night. Indulge in some celebrity spotting as luxury boats come in to moor.
SPLIT - Split is a shoppers paradise, whether wandering through the narrow cobbled streets or haggling for bargains at the large outdoor market. When you need a rest, where better to enjoy a cup of coffee than on the expansive marina looking out onto the islands of Brac and Hvar.
PRIMOSTEN, a gorgeous islet 20 minutes north of Trogir. The prefect place to spend a day exploring.
KRKA Waterfalls-enjoy a leisurely walk through the forest, spectacular views of the waterfalls and the chance to swim in the lake.
Other Activities: quad biking, white water rafting
About Hilary Cronin
My husband Stephen and I fell in love with Croatia when we visited in 2007. We spent 2 weeks travelling between Dubrovnik and Zadar and decided on the flight home to Ireland that we would like to buy there. So we did just that in 2008 when we bought 2 apartments on the island of Ciovo, near Trogir. It was also the year we got married so just a little chaotic! We love to spend our holidays in Croatia, travelling with friends and family or just with our own children. It is an idyllic place to vist and we still love it 10 years later!

Why Hilary Cronin chose Okrug Gornji
Why book our apartment? 1. The apartment is huge (120m2) so easily accomodates large groups. The layout (main bedroom separated from rest of apartment by living space) allows for great privacy. This is particularly important if 2 groups are travelling together or there is a large extended family (where everyone needs their own space!). 2. The shaded balconies provide fabulous spaces to relax and unwind, read a book, share a meal........ 3. Apartment finished/furnished to a very high standard. It has been extensively renovated in 2019 with new couch, shower units, TV, painted etc and the new kitchen is due early in 2020. 4. Competitive pricing and hassle free booking process. 5. No hidden costs. The price you pay includes all utilities and full clean on your departure. If you are staying 2 weeks or longer, the price also includes weekly changes of bed linen and towels. 6. Bozena - the lady who manages the apartment. Speaks excellent English and always on hand to help out. She is a fantastic source of information and will resolve any issues that arise quickly and without fuss. 7. Complimentary food package on arrival. Detailed welcome pack sent once final payment made. 8. Free WiFi in apartment. 9. Our excellent reviews!
What makes this Apartment unique
The first time we saw this property we were bowled over by the breathtaking views from the balconies, over the sea, mountains and islands. We were also taken by the tranquility around the apartment. Even though you are just minutes from the bustling village of Okrug Gornji, it is peaceful, quiet and calm. We were also impressed with the large size of the apartment. At 120m2, it was considerably bigger than any other apartment we viewed on the island. That, coupled with the large balconies, gives a great sense of space inside the apartment. This is important on those occasional wet days when you are house bound. Or when you travel with 2 young children and all their belongings!
