Peaceful, Prairie dogs and Pikes Peak!!

My husband and I absolutely loved staying at the Elkwood Ranch! The location is perfect! Far enough away from the hustle of busy towns but close enough for shopping, site seeing, restaurants etc...The apartment was ammaculate and quite spacious! Loved the large deck for checking out wildlife, gorgeous views of Pikes Peak and the bed was super comfy! Lastly, Chuck was just a gem...such a nice, sweet guy with tons of knowledge of the area!! If you're looking for a place near Colorado Springs or Manitou Springs... we highly reccomend Elkwood Ranch!

Fabulous place far enough from town but close enough to everything, with fantastic view of the Peak.

  • 5 of 5

Great place with vaulted ceilings, full amenities, beautiful scenery everywhere you look, including wide view of Pike's Peak. Close enough to the fun stuff, like four-wheeling, hiking, etc., but far enough from town, and nestled on a small farm with llamas and other interesting critters. Great support from friendly on-site owners who live in the main house.

Very roomie, loved the fresh air and the view. Would recommend to anyone. Hated that they had a burn ban and could not grill out, but that is out of the property owners hands.

Gorgeous secluded working ranch, nestled in beautiful Teller County, close to everything.

Most important, Chuck & Joy are so friendly, accommodating and hospitable, you don't find hosts like them often. I selected Elkwood as I have family just a couple minutes away and wanted to be close to them not just to visit but also enjoy the amazing hiking and ATV trails in the area. Upon entering the ranch, you know immediately it's someplace very special. Chuck & Joy take the utmost care of their property and animals and it shows.

The carriage house itself is superior in so many ways compared to other rentals or lodging options in the area. The serenity of the ranch cannot be beat, I loved my 5:30am sunrise coffee on the deck as I watched Mother Nature wake up the day ahead. The 180 degree view from the deck include everything from the ranch's wildlife, nearby mountains, to the surrounding forestry. Inside the carriage house, you'll find a massive open floor plan for the kitchen, dining and living areas (there's even two nook areas one with a writing desk and another with bookshelves filled with items for indoor activities), all with the most comfortable of very well kept furniture. The bathroom is very large and nicely updated with dual vanity/sinks. The master bedroom has one of the largest most comfortable beds I've seen. I loved the windows close to the bed as I do so miss those "chill in the air" nights where you just wrap yourself up in the more than comfy bedding. The rental is stocked with everything you could need and they've got extra of everything tucked away just in case. I want to make sure I touch base on the sleeping option as I worry some might miss out on this property as it's listed as a one bedroom, there is a very nice pull out sleeper sofa in the main living space. I point this out as Elkwood is a couple's romantic dream rental, but it is also a great property for a couple of friends or family members. Heck, my next stay will probably just be me, lol.

I can't recommend Elkwood and Chuck & Joy enough. I've had family in the area for 15+ years and have stayed in all types of places from Colorado Springs to Woodland Park and on down to Cripple Creek. You quite simply can't go wrong if you decide to stay here, you are most certain to make some special memories during your stay. And don't forget to ask them about feeding the four legged friends you'll make there! ;)

Great view and very private.

  • 5 of 5

Cottage is arranged so that it is very private from the house. Extremely quiet at night. About 30-40 minutes to garden of God's and pikes peak. Fantastic drive to royal gorge and further west to Wilkinson point.
