About shelley Adams
I love traveling and meeting new people. My children were raised bi-cultural, between Europe and the U.S., with a profound love for nature, growing up near the ocean, here in the San Francisco Bay area.
shelley Adams purchased this House in 2006
Why shelley Adams chose Mill Valley
Marin is heaven for outdoor lovers, who wish to be near the city, but not in it. Only 15 minutes from San Francisco, Mill Valley is one of Marin's quaintest towns, built around the redwoods. The downtown area is centered around the Book Depot plaza which is bustling with activities such as chess games, live music, and an outdoor cafe.
What makes this House unique
Mill Valley is home to the nation's most important and earliest running event, The Dipsea Race. It also offers trail riding, biking paths, backpacking, fishing, and whale watching off the coast on a clear day and at the right season. Swimmers love Marin's beaches while kayakers explore San Francisco and Tomales Bay.

Perfect place for families, groups traveling on business, large groups
This quintessential Mill Valley home is ideal for groups traveling on business and families. It's conveniently located close to the city, Muir Woods, Golden Gate Bridge, as well as many other attractions. The home owner is super attentive and did a beautiful job on the decor, making the home cozy and comfortable. I would highly recommend this home to anyone traveling to San Francisco.
I have a sister who lives just outside of SF and we stayed here for a week with my family who came up from LA. The house was beautiful and the area it’s in is fantastic! Love the park close by and the Wholefoods within walking distance. Shelley was great in keeping us informed of how to check in, etc. I would highly recommend this place!
stay in mill valley
Very nice house in a lovely area.
We loved our stay. Everything works very good. The only thing it was the spiral stair to get downstairs. It' was very tiny!
Wonderful house and location for week of biking
Great decks and indoor and outdoor spaces for a group of 6-8 who came from all over the country for a week of road biking in the Marin hills. The garage space was a treat for assembling and dissembling bikes for travel and many bike routes head out from the immediate vicinity of the house ( the steep hill to the house was a daily challenge but also has a sidewalk so walkable). Well provisioned.
A gem that is close to the city, but has the privacy of the country
My family stayed at this home for 8 days at the beginning of August. Our goal was to have a place where we could escape and relax after site seeing and other activities.
Close to attractions - Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco 15-20 minutes away. (there were clear days and we even saw humpback whales from Point Bonita lighthouse) Point Reyes was a pretty drive and took about 1 1/2 hours. Half moon bay took about 1 hour 20 minutes (We ate at Sam's Chowder House on the balcony overlooking the harbor, was very good). One of our best experiences was eating at Cioppino's on Fisherman's Wharf (They have the best cioppino that I have ever tasted).
Quiet and private - Can't see anything but green from the back decks (3 of them) or the front patio (like having another deck and is nice an cool)
Well equipped and close to grocery - This was almost like being at home. There were pots, pans and Utensils for cooking just about anything. The barbecue was great. As for grocery, there is a Whole Foods and Safeway just a few miles down the road.
Rooms - There were only 4 of us so the queens upstairs worked perfectly for us. There are 3 additional singles downstairs with plenty of space. Like others have said, the spiral staircase can be a challenge for larger people and if children are to young they could get hurt. Two bathrooms with shower capability were enough to meet our needs.
Management - Whenever I had a question or issue I called Shelley directly and she answered every time.
Needless to say, we would love to stay in this home again in the future. What a great trip!
Thank you Shelley!
My group of 6 adults stayed here for a week. We were close to San Francisco and the wine country. The house was quiet and peaceful and we could not have been more pleased. The owner was available by phone or email the whole time. We will definitely stay here again.
This quintessential Mill Valley home is loaded with charm. It has 3 large decks off main areas for indoor /outdoor California living. The largest deck is furnished like an outdoor living room. There are many other areas to enjoy alfresco dining. The Mill Valley Golf course is only 5 minutes away. Horseback riding; kayaking; sailing; tennis; hiking and biking are just a few of the activities that Marin has to offer. The house is only 5 minutes from downtown Mill Valley; 15 minutes to San Francisco; 30 minutes to the beach; and 40 minutes to the Napa Wine country; and 3 and a half hours to the Tahoe ski slopes.
