136 Younger Way is located atop Santa Cruz's Beach Hill, an easy downhill stroll to the Pacific Ocean, Main Beach volleyball courts, the historic Santa Cruz Wharf & Cowells Beach and the famous Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. Surfers and boogie boarders are just minutes away from Cowell’s (beginner waves) and Steamer Lane (expert waves). Explore downtown shops, restaurants and coffee shops which are easily accessible by a 3-5 minute leisurely peddle on a beach cruiser bike (free with rental), or a 10 minute walk. There are endless other recreational options in Santa Cruz County including mountain biking, hiking, sailing, kayaking and scenic trains through redwood forests.

The house is a completely renovated (2012) craftsman style home with two bedrooms, one bath, spacious dining room, living room, beautiful new kitchen and large backyard deck. New, double hung windows throughout the house make it a bright and cheerful place for your vacation.

There are two units on the property, the main house and a small studio cottage, VRBO listing #418113. If you need more space, consider renting both. This listing is for the main house only.

A cedar 18' x 20' deck in the backyard features a pergola with heat lamps, along with an 8-person dining table and outdoor sectional sofa -- a perfect spot to enjoy an outdoor meal or dive into a book. The backyard has newly installed artificial turf (spring 2016) and a heated outdoor shower.

We moved to Santa Cruz in July 2011 from Chicago. It was quite a culture shift; but we love it, we love the relaxed and friendly culture of Santa Cruz, we really think there's no place like it and we have traveled all over the world. We've been married 20 years and love sharing new experiences We've traveled to 50 countries together, 21 with our kids! We have a passion for social justice issues; both globally and locally. Chad works for a local start up, Buoy Labs, and Jodi works as a psychotherapist at UCSC's Counseling & Psychological Services. Our boys love living in Santa Cruz; surfing almost every day, riding skateboards along West Cliff to visit Steamer Lane Supply or relaxing with friends on the back deck.

Why Jodi Mulder chose Santa Cruz

We took a 12 week sabbatical in 2009; volunteering for a fair trade retailer who was located in Santa Cruz. We spent 6 weeks in Santa Cruz and 6 weeks in East Africa. After returning home to Chicago, we decided to pursue a different journey in life, sold our house and in time decided we wanted Santa Cruz to be our new home. We love the relaxed neighborhood feel up on Beach Hill, it's so close to all the action, but being on a one way street keeps it quiet and relaxing!

We love the Craftsman style home with lots of light and character throughout; as well as the great outdoor spaces of the home.

What makes this house unique

Relaxation and fun are the two things we love about living at 136 Younger Way. We can stroll down to the beach for 30 minutes, hop on our bikes and for some boogie boarding fun, or relax on the front porch listening to the summer beach concerts.

The location of this lovely home is only a few blocks from the Boardwalk. Super convenient! Jodi was easy to communicate with and everything went smoothly throughout our stay. Charming and comfortable home close to all the boardwalk and wharf have to offer!

The adorable craftsman is impeccably kept and very comfortable. We stayed in the main house and enjoyed watching movies cozy with blankets, as well as, walking to the boardwalk and wharf to enjoy the sites and of course the gorgeous coastline Santa Cruz offers. The owners were wonderful to work with. We went during an unseasonably cold and rain storm and initially the heater wasn't turning on. Although the owners were on vacation in Hawaii they immediately worked to remedy the situation. I would rent this property again with no hesitation.

Utterly Charming!!!!

I've rented numerous houses in Santa Cruz over the years and this house stands tall above the rest. I stayed at this house with my two teenage grandkiddos as an end of summer treat. The rental process was simple. The owner's responsiveness was very fast. The process for getting the key was the simplest I've found. The house itself was lovely, very well-cared for and spotlessly clean. (A very important issue for me!) The owner's furnishings were attractive, welcoming and comfortable. The kitchen was really well stocked and all of the extra amenities like beach towels and boogie boards (and tons of toilet paper) were thoughtful and in excellent condition! And indeed the house is only a few minutes walk from the Boardwalk. Despite that closeness, the street and neighborhood was quiet and quite lovely. Picturesque old Santa Cruz homes are right there! Being able to have a driveway to park in was also really a treat. I will absolutely plan on staying here again! Thank you for making our stay a quite wonderful one!

Beautiful Home With Tons of Character!

We felt at home in this beauty! A short walk to the boardwalk! Even our 8 year old made the walk with ease! Loved the neighborhood. We would definitely stay again!

Move to Santa Cruz or renovate our kitchen?

This was a great house. Everything promised and more. I've rented many places on vrbo, all fine, but this place was special. We spent four nights with our two boys, and the 2BR were plenty. This is a classic craftsman bungalow renovated superbly, and equipped like your good friends' place. Fantastic kitchen and cookware. Amazing outdoor living space. Charming front porch. The kids sure loved that we let them go up to the boardwalk by themselves during the day. It was 2 blocks away. Oh to live here.

Wished we could have stayed longer

This home is extremely comfortable and in a very quiet neighborhood. Only 2 blocks from the boardwalk and beach. I loved sitting out in the backyard in the morning drinking my coffee and reading. We also enjoyed being the lovely yard in the evening after bar-b-quing dinner. The home has plenty of space so you don't feel like you're tripping over each other. Thank you Jodi and Chad for sharing your home with us. Hopefully next time we come down there we can use the house again and not have to leave early due to an emergency back home.

Wish we had more time!

The property is a darling craftsman with wonderful outdoor space. The layout allows families to both spend time together around the generous dining room table and find their own space in other living spaces. The owners make the process incredibly easy and make you feel welcome even though they aren't present!
