30th Birthday Celebration
We enjoyed every minute of this vacation! The house was great, the view even better and location was perfect! We rented a car but could easily walk to so many local places. Fish fry was at the bottom of the hill and a short walk. The food was all so delicious! Local groceries weren’t as expensive as I had imagined but still not as cheap as home. Our property manager Willie was just the best!! He even helped my crew find a homemade cake for my birthday and delivered it to us! Will definitely be returning.
Great house and location
This is a great house and location. It’s a 4 min walk down to 3 local restaurants (Splash) where u can get burgers etc. the house is very nice and clean and modern . It’s only down the street ( to Jolly Hall beach - beautiful ) as any of the beaches in Exuma are. AC in the house is excellent . Managers and owner are very good if you need anything . It’s also only a mile or so to grocery store “ smittys” and the butchers (Ron) . Georgetown is only 1.5 miles away although it’s actually really small. Would suggest you rent a car just to get about and pick up groceries etc as there is no public transport on Exuma . However taxis are available .
Will return again for sure .
Perfection from the minute you're greeted by Willy at the door. The house is the ideal spot for families or several couples. It was a bit large for just the two of us but the peace and privacy was perfect for celebrating our 30th Anniversary. Be sure to check out the Krusty Crab at the local fish fry and do not leave the island without renting a boat at Minns and exploring Elizabeth Harbour. Thank you Angie for a wonderful vacation... we'll be back again and again for sure!
Lovely Home, Lovely Location and Lovely Island
We just returned from the most relaxing and enjoyable time in The Exuma Cays. FantaSea is perfectly located centrally on the island- minutes drive to downtown Georgetown and one grocery and minutes drive to the other grocery (Prime Island Meats & Deli-get the chicken salad-you won't be sorry) The house is private, but yet within walking distance to many popular bars or restaurants (Shirley's @ The Fish Fry, Splash, Augusta Bay) and also walking distance to Jolly Hall Beach. The home is updated, comfortable and has everything you would need to cook meals at home and to settle in for a nice holiday.
Angie and Willy were both very accommodating in providing information leading up to arrival and then Willy was absolutely fantastic in showing us the property, giving us tips on where to go and what not to miss on the island. Absolutely the best VRBO rental to date. We loved The Exumas and Fanta Sea. Hope to be back one day.
perfect house for a 3 generation family vacation
My husband, daughter, son-in-law, and 4 and 6 year old grandchildren just returned from a 10 night stay at Fantasea. Perfect house for us. The small pool kept the kids
entertained in the morning while the adults relaxed on the veranda with coffee and breakfast. We had the double doors from the house open each day to enjoy the view and beautiful breezes. The only time we had to close them was one evening .when there was no breeze as we were getting bitten by noseeums.
.The 3 bedrooms on the second floor were perfect for our family. Two of the bedrooms opened out onto the 2nd floor deck which had even better views than the veranda. The info on the Homeaway site states that both of the rooms have queen-sized beds. While we were happy to discover the master has a king-size unfortunately for our 6'8" son-in-law. the other bedroom only had a double bed. The third bedroom had twin beds which worked great for our grandsons. All three ensuite baths were well appointed although the master jacuzzi did not work. No big deal for us.
The only negative we could find is that the kitchen is not well appointed if you want to prepare meals, which we did most nights.
While we never met Angie, she was prompt in her replies whenever I emailed her with a question or concern. Willy met us at the house upon arrival and did a great job of familiarizing us with the details of where things were and how to work the various systems. He and our grandsons developed a nice friendship as Willy showed them how to open a coconut one of them found (no easy task!) and even returned the next day with a coconut that had already started to sprout into a tree, roots, leaves and all. He left it with the boys and promised to come back to plant it with them, and he did.
Another plus is the location. While we did rent a car, mainly to grocery shop and visit other beaches such as Cocoplum, Hooper and Tropic of Cancer (all must sees) we really enjoyed being able to walk down the hill to access restaurants, bars and Jolly Hall Beach. To get to the beach we walked across the street and through the walkway to Splash Bar and Grill. Then onto a beach with a 5 minute walk to Jolly Hall. This beach also has plenty of shade. We were pleased to discover that the water was warm enough for all of us to be in it every day.
We will be back to Fantasea again.
Dear Mary Jane, Thank you for your feedback and we are glad that you enjoyed your stay at FantaSea. Its kitchen has been equipped with everything we have at our own home and previous guests have said it has everything so we are puzzled as to what you found missing. Your son is indeed very tall. However the comment regarding the size of the beds in Bedroom 2 and 4 is incorrect. If you had measured the beds you would have found that they are 60x80 inches. These are queen sized beds purchased and shipped from the US. Full sized beds are only 75 inches long and queens are 80 inches. It would have been far shorter in length and even more uncomfortable for your son. We hope you understand.
Highly Recommend This Property!
this place is as advertised...I would recommended to anyone thinking about it to pull the trigger. there were 3 couples who made the trip, the house was large enough for us plus 2 more. beds are comfortable, amenities were plenty, and just a short walk from Jolly Beach which was nice. couple notes, we thought the airport was in Georgetown, technically it is in Moss Town, so once you get down the hill (if you are driving) take a right, not a left to the property. We got quite lost heading the wrong way, but once we found it, it was pretty easy to get around the island. MAKE SURE to get to little exuma island and the tropic of cancer beach, it is one of the best beaches I have ever been too, few people and idyllic water and sand. nothing there so you'll need to bring all your food and beverages along. off the beaten path, you'll need a larger car to traverse the crazy road there. head to Tropic Breeze for appetizers as well as Santanna's where they feed the sharks right off the shore. Both places were incredible. last, be prepared to pay top dollar for groceries, things as you can imagine are quite expensive. I wouldn't want to take away from the local economy, but we should have packed more snacks. was a little disappointed when grocery shopping, looked forward to using the grill at the property, but it just didn't seem feasible with the price and selection. we went to three different grocery stores, smitty's is the one I recommend. the liquor store near there, cannot recall the name, is the best to purchase alcohol, again quite pricey so be prepared. both are west of the property on the ocean side of the road. last, we booked the boat day excursion through coastal adventures. got off to a rough start picking up so many people and the bus broke down, but they made up for it by packing in a lot during the excursion, so despite about an hour delay, it felt like we were there all day. if you do this, I hope you get CJ, he is the man!! So again, if you are thinking about FantaSea, all 6 of us gave it a resounding thumbs up and will likely be back at some point soon.
Prime central location, 6 minute walk to restaurants, bars and local fish fry. Only 1 mile from Georgetown, shops and grocery stores
