A Suite SWEET Stay
A 3 car garage converted into a suite perfect for a couple or small family. The construction and use of space were well thought out because although it's little...it doesn't feel like it. The suite has most all the comforts of "home sweet home".
What was sweet:
Early Arrival (owner let us access rental before check-in--SWEET!)
Snacks (if you arrive hungry there are plenty of snacks to eat--SWEET!)
Clean, Quiet, Nicely Furnished (SWEET!)
Backyard (lovely landscaping, space to reflect and engage--SWEET!)
Deposit (returned fast--SWEET!)
Best Bonus Ever-Black Makeup Facecloth (I don't know why most rentals (commercial and private) use white towels. I always feel guilty about getting makeup all over it--even using makeup remover there is residue). You don't have to worry about leaving stains on a black facecloth--SWEET!!!)
Friendly suggestions: (I would stay here with or without these suggestions)
Full-size ironing board (I hate those baby-doll sized ironing boards).
TV-put tv's in both bedrooms.
Blackout curtains in bedrooms to keep the sun out and give the guest a greater sense of privacy.
Parking (space is a converted garage on owner's property. If guest park in the driveway I don't see how the owner could come and go. We had family who picked/dropped us off, but if you have a car I'm not sure where you would park???
Potential safety issue-there is a DROP from where the garage was extended between 2nd bedroom and kitchen/LR/MBR meet. The owner should address/minimally put a sign to "BEWARE OF DROP"
Hook behind the bathroom door is a cheap addition.
I am glad you had a nice stay. However, Since you submitted this a few months later you have some details wrong:
Regarding the converted garage comment - This is NOT a converted garage. It is a guest house attached to the back the garage, built with permits when we built our home as a legal guest house - it even has it's own address. I am one of the few people in the area that rents a legal, up to code guest house.
Parking -There is lots of free parking on the street there are times it is busier than others but still there is always parking. We try to keep spaces in front of the house available but they are not guaranteed since others can take them- Listing has always indicated there was no parking on premises for the reason you describe and says free street parking. I also reminded you about the parking in the message I sent with check-in details.
Until recently no one had mentioned the 'drop' which is 1 step down (you are the 2nd within a month) but I have already addressed this since another guest mentioned it verbally.
There isn't a hook behind the bathroom door so you must have mistaken this for somewhere else - we have a large bathroom towel rack and the shower door has a place to hang towels.
TV's in each room has never been requested. But thank you for the suggestion
I don't know if I will get a full-size ironing board the but will keep that in mind
Blackout curtains have been considered but in over 2 years only 1 other person has mentioned it and he slept during the day. I will look at different curtains and see what I can find. As for privacy, no one can get back there or can see into the backyard into the bedroom you are talking about and the long-term tenants we had back there had light drapes so I never considered this when we decided to convert to Short Term Rental thank you very much for the suggestion.
Thank you and I appreciate feedback
This was the perfect spot for my parents to stay when they were visiting us. They had their private space, but were close to our house so it was easy for them to come and go.
Easy, good location, nice extras
We were in town to visit Stanford and tour San Francisco. This guest house was a great location for our home base. The house is as advertised and even has a nice little grassy area and patio. The kitchen was pre-stocked with some essentials which was really nice after a long day of driving. Parking was never an issue, always plenty of space on the street which is nice. All in all, I would recommend this guest house for anyone traveling that appreciates the comforts of home for less than a nice hotel room would cost. You won't regret renting this house.
Exactly what we needed
The guest house was perfectly clean and a welcome respite at the end of a long day. Anita, the owner, while leaving us with lots of privacy, was very responsive and eager to do anything to make our stay better. The house is super quiet and private.
The apartment was very accommodating and private. It was so very helpful that we were able to stay another night when plans were extended.
Great place. Anita and her family are very kind and generous people. Great place to stay and I will stay as often as it's available.
