About Anna or Chuck

My wife & I met and married in Mill Valley 40 years ago. She owned the downtown flower stand for many years. There will be fresh flowers when you arrive & probably some fresh berries when we make or weekly trip to the local Farmers Market.

We know & love Marin County and want to make your stay a memory to last a lifetime

Anna or Chuck purchased this apartment in 2011

Why Anna or Chuck chose Mill Valley

This apartment directly adjoins a wonderful hiking trail on the lower slopes of Mt. Tamalpais. Our son gives bike tours of Sausalito or San Francisco and we can arrange a mountain biking guide for you. Or you can take a walk to explore Mill Valleys world famous lanes & paths that start just outside your door or.

A 5 minute drive takes you to downtown Mill Valley, it’s about 20 minutes away from ocean beaches, Muir Woods, or San Francisco. Or take a 40 minute drive to Napa/Sonoma-- the heart of Wine Country.

What makes this apartment unique

Mountain solitude on a 3/4 acre lot directly adjoining a wonderful hiking/biking trail. This sunny site overlooks majestic Redwoods with soaring ravens & hawks. A place to relax or a jumping off base from which to discover the San Francisco Bay area--or both.

Owners are fantastic!

Yes it's a pretty uneasy drive at the beginning but you get used to it. There was a problem with the oven the first morning we tried to cook so the owners bought us lunch and they quickly managed the situation very professionally. I would definitely stay again!

Incredibly peaceful - harrowing drive to reach it!

  • 4 of 5

This was perhaps the quietest, most peaceful place we've ever slept - high in the trees with nary a sound from traffic. Anna and Chuck are lovely hosts and it's a great place. Super comfortable.

I'm dropping by a star because we found the drive to the house to be really harrowing. It's a winding winding narrow road, passable in many spots by only one car. Yet completely residential. We had a large SUV after traveling with others earlier in the trip and it was pure white-knuckle driving due to steep drop-offs and often no place to pull over or back up. We're accustomed to driving narrow mountain roads, but in a residential area that has regular traffic in and out, it was not something we'd do again. Unlike anything we've encountered.

So serene and comfortable!

  • 4 of 5

What a gorgeous area! Yes it was an adventure driving up to the house but the house and beautiful area is so worth it! We were able to use an Uber most of the time when needed which was helpful. Anna and Chuck were very helpful when I had questions but kept to themselves and respected our privacy. Such a fun area would defiantly recommend it!

Beautiful Guest Suite in Redwood Forest

  • 5 of 5

Well appointed, private guest suite located in the midst of redwoods and waterfalls. The apartment had everything we needed, including washer / dryer. We enjoyed a walk down the hill to the town of Mill Valley for breakfast and shopping, as well as hiking the local trails through the forest, which we accessed from our balcony.

Our hosts, Chuck and Anna, were very helpful with directions, maps, suggestions, and local information, and they brought their elevator down to help us move our luggage when we arrived. This was a great base for exploring San Francisco, Marin County, and wine country. We had a wonderful stay, and hope to visit again.

Beautiful, Private, and in a fantastic location. If looking to get off the path, this is perfect!

  • 5 of 5

Anna and Chuck were fantastic hosts. My girlfriend and I were up for a long weekend to run the Marin Headlands half, and explore some of the surrounding scenery. We didn't need much, but really appreciated knowing Anna and Chuck were within reach if needed. They were welcoming, flexible to our scheduled for a late arrival, and the unit was perfect for our stay. Near by waterfall, hiking paths, and access to Muir Beach made this the perfect stay for us.

Thanks to the Utzman's! We'll be back!

Great place in the mountains.

  • 5 of 5

This was a nice to place to stay. Chuck and Anna were great. They responded quickly to any problem or question I asked. This is a great location from the city. We went to napa one day, we went to muir woods, we went to the city another day. Perfect driving distance from all. Especially to get to the redwoods. I loved waking up to the trees and the sound of the waterfall close by. The road turns into a one lane closer to the home which I'm sure makes people who aren't accustomed to those type of driving conditions nervous. Its all part of the adventure. We had a long, much needed girls weekend and we both had a good, relaxing time.

For a hiker or cyclist this is a premier location. The path from your apartment connects to Mill Valley’s world famous mountain biking/hiking trails. Walk up the street a few blocks & see the steps of the Dipsea Trail—walk down into town or hike to Stinson Beach or Mt. Tamalpais.

Take a 15 minute drive to the Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco, or a 40 minute drive to Napa & Sonoma Wine Country.
