Peaceful and relaxing trip!
My family absolutely loved this home! The location is awesome and it’s really private, we felt like we had the lake to ourselves. The house is clean, updated and it has everything you need. Having the second full bathroom is awesome for a large family. I’d highly recommend staying here!
Most Beautiful Lake House and Location!!
It was the most special and relaxing vacation we have ever experienced! The house was updated, including many thoughtful amenities and beautifully decorated with a nautical theme! We enjoyed the privacy factor. The property had a private beach, dock, patio and yard! Also, there are no homes close to either side of the property - huge positive during the times of needed social distancing! Also, we were very impressed that the owners have the property professionally cleaned between every guest! It was very clean and well maintained! We very much appreciated the new air conditioning on hot and humid evenings too! Overall, we really enjoyed the location of a lake front house including many windows, therefore enjoying the lake view every morning and evening! The owners were very friendly and accommodating, and we will plan on staying here again next summer!! Thank You! Heather
Heather and her husband were excellent guests. They took great care of the Sommerhus and we would love to have them back again. Thank you.
My children and I decided to take a last minute trip to Lake Kueka, and found this gem by the water. I have traveled all over the world and stayed in many 5 star resorts, and somehow this place beat them all. From fishing off the dock, kayaking, and evening fires, nothing disappointed. The hosts were excellent and answered every question promptly.
We had a wonderful week at this fantastic cottage getaway. Cottage was great and our boys loved the swimming and fishing. Easy access to local community. Would highly recommend.
Very charming home, just unpack and enjoy!
What else can I say, the place was flawless. I went with 4 other adults and 2 kids (13 and 9) and we were all able to sleep comfortably and plenty of personal space if needed. This place has it all, amazing sunrise, incredible views, fantastic fishing, and peace and quiet. Sharlene and Mike were great and extremely accommodating. Out of the vacation homes we have rented on various lakes over the last 14 years, this is by far the best we have been to. Thank you again for allowing us to stay and being such gracious hosts.
Jim and his family adapted to “Lake Time” quickly! They were excellent guests. It’s always fun to hear kids laughing as they jump into the lake. They were respectful and took great care of the property. We hope they come back to the Sommerhus to see us again. Mike and Sharlene
The Finger Lakes offer, many wineries, Rooster Hill, Ravines, Keuka Spring, Bully Hill, Heron Hill and more. The views from these wineries are spectacular!! And the wine isn't bad eitherI
About Sharlene Briggs
My name is Sharlene, and I was born and raised in Penn Yan. My husband, Mike, and I We formerly lived between Seneca and Keuka lakes and moved to Keuka in 2013. We now live across the road form the Sommerhus, in a farmhouse we have renovated. I am retired from the local school system, and spend time managing the property. We have met many new friends from our cottage rental, and look forward to meeting you.
Sharlene Briggs purchased this Cottage in 2014
Why Sharlene Briggs chose Town of Jerusalem
In the 1800's, The Sommerhus was originally part of the property on a grape farm. The farm was built in 1885. It was initially a landing for fruit delivery (or pickup), brought by steamboats. We imagine grapes were sent to local wineries from this point. Later, it became a boathouse, and in the '30's, it was renovated to a cottage. When we bought the farmhouse across the road, the cottage had a different owner, but we were given the opportunity to buy it, and we did! it now entertains people from all over the country, offering all the charm of Keuka Lake
What makes this Cottage unique
From the second floor windows of The Sommerhus, you feel like you are on a boat! Your view is all water and you can hear the it lapping the shore. You are located between Penn Yan (5miles) and Hammondsport (15 miles). Both villages offer small town charm, hosting unique gift shops, local taverns and delicious dining.
