This is a large, Colorado country house at right about 8,000ft in the San Luis Valley! Adjoining the property is a small organic farm with lots of animals to visit if you'd like a tour and dozens of different species of birds for the avid Colorado birdwatchers!
We can accommodate family groups because of the large and open layout of the house. Three bedrooms with beds for 7, including a king sleigh bed, and two living rooms with comfy sofas and several cots with sleeping bags and an extra mattress allow up to 12 people to sleep comfortably. We also have a queen sized air mattress available. We have two large bathrooms, one right off the master bedroom, and both with full tubs and showers.
Both living rooms have plenty of space. We have a flat screen TV with a Blu-Ray DVD player in our second living room. There is wifi but no cable so bring your smartphones to plug in! In the first living room (by the kitchen) we have a wood burning stove. The kitchen comes fully stocked with everything but the food! We do have lots of spices and pasture raised, soy free eggs available upon request, as well as samples of locally roasted coffees and honey! Our very large back porch has a beautiful view of the San Juan mountains, and breathtaking sunrises and sunsets across a huge rolling back yard great for kids and dogs! And the hammock is great for summer naps!
We are located on the western edge of the San Louis Valley which is said to be the largest high elevation inter-mountain valley in the world. Our property has wonderful views and near access to both the Sangre de Cristo Mountains as well as the Penitente Canyon Recreation area. The Great Sand Dunes, Hooper Pool, Alien Outpost, San Luis Stations of the Cross, Wolf Creek Ski area, and Rio Grande River with fishing and rafting, Monte Vista Crane Festival, horseback riding, mountain biking, and many, many, other attractions, are all within an hour of our location!
We are a Colorado family with generational ties to the area. We live, work, and play in Colorado and are committed to sustainable living and healthy local communities, invigorated by creative and collaborative projects. We are a family of poets, artists, ranchers, musicians, architects, carpenters and educators. We love the land, we love the wildlife, and we love the people of Colorado! Come see what we see and fall in love!
