About Sue Aery, Owner

I am a local chiropractor. I moved here 10 years ago to be in the mountains where I can hike, bike, swim, kayak any time I want. I have 5 dogs that go everywhere with me, even when I rent somewhere else from VRBO! The towns of Cashiers, Highlands and Franklin are not only places where I work but places that I love.

Sue Aery, Owner purchased this house in 2005

Why Sue Aery, Owner chose Cullowhee

I found this house on an internet site and immediately fell in love with its location and serenity. The breezes are hypnotic and the woods and mountains are a relaxing environment without being too far from anything. I love waking up to the sounds of the trees and smelling the soft fragrances of whatever wildflower is in bloom. The blackberries are ripe for picking in July to August and they are sweet and wonderful!

What makes this house unique

What I like most about my property is the seclusion, access to hiking and the proximity to my three favorite towns for shopping, entertainment and restaurants. The local community is wonderful, there are so many events to choose from whether you like music, arts, outdoor sports, you name it! Is just a great place with a great feel, come visit us!

Home was very nicely equipped & the view was wonderful

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed staying at Sue’s place. She has furnished the house with ample supplies of dishes, linens, cookware, games, & books. She left very good info & instrctions about the area & places to visit & eat. The screened in porch was great for morning coffee & evening cocktails. Only thing a little tiresome was the drive to & from towns but you have to decide between town & the scenery.

Beautiful Views at a Cool Summer Location

  • 4 of 5

The property was as advertised. Views were indeed beautiful as afternoon and evening thunderstorms over the mountains created a constantly changing panorama. AC is not available and was not needed. Nice and cool, even in the middle of July. As is clear from the website the drive to get there involves some effort, and should be taken into consideration if you're leaving the house on a daily basis to hike, sight see, shop, etc. The house was very clean and all the essentials were there. There was some need for non-critical maintenance (did not affect our stay) and updating, but overall, a very good experience.

Very relaxing with beautiful sunsets!

  • 5 of 5

The home is very clean, warm, well decorated and inviting! There is a well laid out kitchen with plenty of amenities (cookware, coffeemaker, dishwasher, etc) to make family meals easy. The open floor plan downstairs inside, combined with the adjoining porches outside made the home feel homey, yet spacious enough that we didn't feel cramped. The screened porch as well as the front porch across the home offer a great place to have morning coffee or an evening cocktail! We spent a long weekend here and had the pleasure of enjoying two great sunsets following afternoon rain showers! Perfect place for relaxing with the family and great location to meet between Indiana and Florida for us! Sue is very responsive to messages and will answer right away. Bonus for us was the fact that our 4-legged family member was welcome, too!

Beautiful view and cozy house made for the perfect get-away for our family.

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay and chose a great time of year. We were delighted to awaken to a winter wonderland our first morning there. It seemed as if we were the only folks on the mountain as we looked out over the iced, white treetops. The house had everything we needed to make our New Year's happy!
