Casa del Encanto was awesome! The entire house is decorated in a beautiful, elegant Mexican Style. Lots of outside space to enjoy the beautiful weather of this traditional Mexican town. The rooms were really cozy and really clean the service was excellent, if I go back I would try to book again. Walking distance to the main plaza, to restaurants and markets. I had show the photos to all my friends in Australia so they can book this great house when they visit Mexico!! Thanks for making us feel as home!

Better than Our High Expectations--Just Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

Just back from a week at Hugh Carpenter's Camp San Miguel Cooking School. Case Del Encanto was perfect in every way for our group of 5. There was plenty of room to spread out and enjoy a bit of privacy. The spacious courtyard was our gathering area and we enjoyed the rooftop deck with spectacular views of SMA. The location was perfect, a short walk to numerous restaurants and the Jardin. The owners were a delight to deal with and the house staff anticipated our every need. This is one of those rare rentals that is even better than the description.

Magical Home in a Magical City

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from a glorious week’s stay at Casa del Encanto. This was our first trip to San Miguel and I cannot imagine a more perfect spot from which to explore this magical city.

From our initial inquiry, contact/information from the owners was quick, thorough and very helpful. As the previous reviewer indicated, the photos do not do this property justice. It is incredibly comfortable, beautifully appointed and perfectly situated for a stay in SMA. Graciela, the housekeeper, helped make our visit memorable. She made delicious breakfasts for us each day—varied in content and always ready at the time desired.

It really is less than 10 minutes walk to the Jardin—the epicenter of all activity in town. There seemed to be some live music there every time we arrived. The home, with three bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, is perfectly suited to couples/friends traveling together. Additionally, the various sitting rooms and sala, as well as the incomparable courtyard (with fireplace!), means that there’s always a private space when you want to ‘be alone’. The rooftop is ideal for viewing magnificent sunsets and the frequent displays of fireworks.

The owners have clearly taken great care in furnishing and decorating this beautiful home. You really do feel like you are visiting friends. We would not look at another property if/when we return to San Miguel.

Even better than the photos

  • 5 of 5

We loved Casa del Encanto. The photos are fabulous but don't do this property justice. Unfortunately, the weather in San Miguel over the holidays this year was colder than usual, with rain. However, the house with all it's fireplaces (4) and plenty of warm blankets worked great. Graciela was a gem -- we did not need her cooking skills for breakfast, but she did purchase and prepare a couple of dinners for us that were both delicious and beautifully arranged. She also is a crackerjack cleaner. Guillermo, too, was delightful and very helpful. Most of all, this home is a Spanish colonial joy. The weather prevented us from using the wonderful rooftop terraces (I would love to return in warmer weather) as much as we would have liked, but the courtyard with the fireplace more than made up for that. We were able to see the New Year's fireworks at the Paroquia right from our bedroom window. The Casa is located in a wonderful part of the city and is really under a 10 minute walk to the Jardin. The owners were very nice to work with and had very good helpful advice whenever we had questions, both before and during our trip. We've stayed at many vacation rentals and this was certainly among the nicest.
