Charming New England Style Cottage on Lake Huron

Bedrooms 3
Property type cottage
Minimum Stay 2 - 5 nights

About the property

We invite you to vacation at our cottage on the 'Golden Mile' of Lake Huron. Our cottage is secluded from US-23 and sits on 110' feet of private beach. This unique shore line allows you to walk several miles along the sandy beach collecting shells and beach glass.

Our quaint 3 bedroom, 1.5 bath cottage offers many amenities, including newer kitchen, fully stocked with cookware and dining supplies, 40" LED TV in living room and a washer and dryer and 55" 4K Smart TV in a semi finished basement. The charming front porch off the living room offers a perfect spot for relaxing with a book, sipping your morning coffee or taking delight in an evening beverage, or perhaps you would prefer enjoying your activity on the deck.

The private sandy beach is perfect for playing frisbee, throwing the football, beach games, building sand castles and sunbathing. For fun times on the water we invite you to enjoy our three kayaks or paddle boards or a competitive game of horseshoes in the backyard. Then retreat to an evening bonfire enjoying s'mores and hours of star gazing.

We are conveniently located between AuGres and the town of East Tawas where you can walk the city docks, shop, eat, fish off the pier or catch an evening movie at the local downtown theatre.

About Nancy Johnson

We purchased this cottage in 1995 from the original owner. We live in Birmingham, Michigan. My husband grew up vacationing at his family cottage a few doors down. We selected this location because of the familiarty, the beautiful sandy beach and sand bar. It is perfect for swimming and boating. We are less than 2.5 hours from home which gave us alot of flexibility with getaways.

This is our little haven and we cherish our time that we spend here. Because of many committments this summer we are not able to spend the entire summer enjoying our cottage. This is the first time renting for us, so we hope that we can share our summer delights with others who appreciate kicking back and enjoying family and friends.

Great family beach spot!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great trip to the cottage. Our two young children were comfortable in the rooms and the house/kitchen were full with anything you'd need to make a great meal. Location on the beach was great, lots of distance to walk in either direction. Beach was sandy, our son loved playing in the sand.

It was chillier than expected so we spent more time inside than we had planned on, but it was still very enjoyable. Lots of great windows to watch the sunrise and the waves. We would rent again for sure. The picnic tables and charcoal grill outside were an awesome spot to make lunch.

Quiet enjoyable weekend by the lake?

  • 5 of 5

Nancy is a wonderful host, she provided all the information needed and tips for the area as well. The house is very quaint and looked after. We had a wonderful time at the house. We took walks on the beach, the water was still warm enough to swim in the lake, and the house was perfect for meals, hanging out, and enjoying the backyard. Thanks for being such great hosts and for a wonderful home away from home.

Beautiful lakeside retreat!

  • 5 of 5

The cottage is in such a lovely location! Right on the beach, full of things to use like kayaks and lawn games. The kitchen has everything you could need to make the perfect meal. There are two outside areas for sitting and relaxing, and a great fromt porch to watch the sunrise. Our stay was truly a peaceful retreat!

Perfect for our family!

  • 5 of 5

This cottage was perfect for our family! It was very clean and well supplied with all the appliances and such you could hope for. Everything was new or in good working order. Our teenagers were content with the beach, the kayaks and the fire pit. Our black lab had a great time playing in the water and walking the shoreline. We would love to visit again in the future! Also, the owners were very nice to work with and made sure we felt welcome when we arrived.

Great vacation cottage for the family.

  • 5 of 5

Our family very much enjoyed this cottage. The cottage was clean and well maintained. My teen girls enjoyed the kayaks and beach. Although it was a bit cold, we didn't allow that to spoil our vacation. It was great to sit at the bonfire at night. We would definitely stay here again.
