Hi! My name is Giulia (pronounced Julia), and I am an Italian-American. I grew up in the United States but traveled frequently to Siracusa, Italy to visit family and friends. A year ago I decided to move to Siracusa to teach English. Now I'm here and have decided to rent this wonderful apartment that overlooks the Mediterranean Sea. The home not only has spectacular views but also has beautiful artwork done by my mother. My mother personally created an art gallery that includes many paintings and pastels of numerous historical sites right here in Siracusa. If you have any questions regarding the home or about Siracusa, do not hesitate to contact me. Hope to hear from you soon.
Completely unique place to stay, very tastefully adorned with the art of the owner in most rooms, right next to the sea, very spacious first floor apartment with about 25 metres of balcony on 2 sides. Secure off street parking, you really need a hire car in Sicily to get around, but you can walk to Ortigia [15 mins] and the museum [10 mins] and most of the archaeological sites are also close. Andrea gave helpful advice on supermarkets and beaches nearby. A great place to relax and feel at home.
This condo was absolutely fabulous! It is decorated beautifully and spotlessly clean. The most amazing feature of this condo is the gorgeous water views from every window. The wrap around balcony allows you to sip your coffee in the morning as the sun comes up over the water and sip your wine in the evening as you watch the dazzling sunsets over the blue green sea every night! We enjoyed the wonderful location, walking to Ortigia every day. We also appreciated the fact that there is a bus route to so many locations in Sicily so close by. We rarely needed a car. It is perfect for two couples, as there are two bathrooms. Loved it and plan on returning this year for our "Italian Holiday"! Can't wait!
Stella Sur Mare was a wonderful stay with amazing views of the ocean and across to Ortega. The apartment is comfortable and well equiped. Although it is about 20 mins walk into Ortega there is a little Bus No 3 that stops nearby in front of Bar Riviera. Perhaps the only thing that lets the apartment down is the bathrooms that could be updated but still clean and functional. We had a great stay thank you Guilia.
My wife and I stayed at the condo for two whole months between January and March while the UK was under flood water. We stayed last year too when Britain was frozen solid with arctic temperatures. This year the temperature during the day never dropped below about 14C and we came away looking like a couple of pandas where our sunglasses left us untanned. The condo has two excellent bedrooms - we slept overlooking the rocks and the cormorant colony. We went to bed to the moonlight on the water and and woke to the sunrise. We shopped for our major supplies at the supermarket which delivered within three hours; smaller purchases we made from the bakery, the butcher and the alimentaria down the road. We visited the classical sites, walked the path along the coast and visited the ancient city of Ortigia. But our favourite inactivity was to have our lunch on the wonderful balcony running round two sides of the apartment - fresh baked bread, cheese, anchovies, wonderful fruit and Sicilian wine - then pretending to read our Kindles while drowsing in the sunshine.
The property was certainly up to the description in the listing. ln fact the only drawback we found was a tendency for the power supply to give up if we overstrained it with oven, microwave, washing machine, heating, computers, immersion heater, etc. Then I had to dash downstairs and throw a switch to restore the supply - not too difficult and not often. Giulia was only a phone call away and was quick to resolve any initial queries we might have had. The wi-fi worked and so did Sky on the TV. Simone and Monika, the Italian/Polish couple who looked after us during our stay were ever helpful and Monika kept the apartment clean as well as improving my wife's Polish.
While this time we didn't eat out very much, there are plenty of ristorantes, trattorias, hosterias, pizzerias in Ortigia; via Cavour is particularly blessed in this respect (unless you choose to eat out on a Monday evening when many eateries are closed.) There is a Mexican pub within 200 metres which is good and welcoming.
This is a good place to stay. We have spent several months here and will almost certainly come again in the future. Thank you Giulia.
