Gorgeous stay in Marrakech
Our family of 4 stayed at this beautiful riad for 2 weeks in July. The place is perfect luxury with clean lines, stellar lighting, quality linens, and large bathrooms. Designer motif throughout. We had chef quality meals prepared almost everyday by Madja and Zubaya. Their food was far better than at restaurants! Plus, they were great with the children and very welcoming. Communication with the owner and manager was quick and easy. Location is stellar, right in the Medina. It’s a perfect place to stay and they made everything simple and easy. Excellent for children and families. Pool and large lounge area on the roof, where we sometimes slept under the stars. Very fast WiFi. I recommend it without reservation, and we will definitely stay here again when we return to Morocco.
What a fabulous week!
We arrived at Riad Zalia from Casablanca and Mustafa was waiting for us with open arms.
After a short walk through a series of alleyways we arrived at our home for a week! Perfectly situated and decorated with a restrained yet artful eye, Riad Zalia was beautiful, elegant and incredibly peaceful. We enjoyed every space! Had lovely breakfast prepared by Madja-and loved having her take us to market and teach us how to prepare chicken tajine veg couscous and cheese phyllo appetizers! My 16 and 19 year olds loved it!
All communications with Joseph Sanderson was perfect-his booklet of recommendation was fantastic, and we were happy to have his guidance.
We have traveled extensively and this riad experience was amazing!
Hoping to return.
Many thanks for making summer trip ‘19 one to remember!
Bonnie Ben Sophie and Sam
My 4 friends and I spent a lovely week in this riad. It was accessible to all of the old medina with a few steps. I highly recommend staying here!
The only drawback I had was that even though the place sleeps 6 easily, ,you get charged additional for every person additional after 3.
Also there seemed to be some plumbing issues in my bathroom. A horrible stench felt ever present in coming from the room.
Other than those 2 minor things, this was a lovely place :)
This is why we travel
We selected Marrakech as our destination for our family trip for the Christmas holiday. Our travel group included me, husband, dad and six year old son. We did a lot of research to make sure that the accommodations would be comfortable and safe for everyone in our party. Two months following our return, I am still unable to articulate how amazing this place and experience were. The YouTube video of the property, created by the owner, is a very accurate representation of the property. Check that out! The riad is beautifully decorated in a modern/traditional style. One of my favorite spots in the riad was in the central courtyard seated on the comfy daybed-like couch, surrounded by a mountain of fluffy pillows, listening to the waterfall from the fountain, nursing a cup of fresh mint tea, and reading a novel. The riad was spacious and perfect for all of us. The location of the home was within walking distance of great restaurants, shopping, hamam, bakery, and groceries. We didn't get lost once! I felt safe navigating the labyrinth-like streets. There are plenty of landmarks to look at so you can find your way back and forth to the main street very quickly to/from the riad. Zubaida and Magda took very good care of us, and they prepared several tasty meals. This experience reinforces the reason why we travel. The culture, artisan handicrafts, cuisine, and experiences will stay with us forever.
Luxurious Riat In Perfect Location
This riat was the best part of our selections in Marrakech. Everyone involved was top notch and took care of any requests immediately. Mustafa was very professional and made sure we were picked up at the airport and each meal was prepared on our request. The food was great! Majda (sp?) is a wonderful cook and I highly recommend having her provide dinner and breakfast as both were very enjoyable. The plunge pool would be a huge bonus in the warm season and the view of the medina and mountains is cool at sunrise and sunset. I would recommend this riat for any travelers going to Marrakech and I speak with years of experience both in the US and abroad on 4 continents.
In a word, Perfect!
Riad Zalia is a perfectly located luxury retreat tucked into the chaos of the Medina! The top 3 things about this rental property would be:
#1 is location. If you want to be close to the heart of the city, you won't find a better place! You're literally steps from the main souks and Jamaa El-Fna Square is maybe a 10 minute walk. There is even a Carrefour market that we could walk to for snacks and alcolhol!
#2 the riad itself. Riad Zalia is absolutely beautiful! Each room has been carefully decorated for an authentic Moroccan feel, while remaining clean and modern. All three bedrooms are spacious and comfortable. The living room was a great place for gathering at night and enjoying a glass of wine by the fireplace (we used it almost every night). And the view from the rooftop is stunning!
#3 would be the staff. Everyone from Joseph to Mustapha to Majda was truly amazing! Majda cooked the most delicious meals during our stay. And the cooking lesson, particularly shopping in the market, was a highlight of our trip!
We can't wait to visit Marrakesh again and stay at Riad Zalia!
Marrakech airport 10 minutes drive. Your contact while staying with us is Mustapha. He will meet you at the airport with a sign of Riad Zalia and your name. He will take you to the Riad where you will be greeted by the housekeeper Majda, who will offer you freshly squeezed orange juice or mint tea.
