About Michele Palatas
I moved to Alaska from Los Angeles in 1998 to work in the Arctic. Deadhorse, Alaska on the edge of the Beaufort Sea was my base of operations for four and a half years. WesternGeco, the company I worked for then sent me down on the Kenai peninsula for six months, where I lived in a cabin on the Moose River in Sterling. Then I decided it was time to buy a house in Anchorage. I purchased a duplex and turned half into a fully furnished GuestHouse where I now live with my Rotti-Lab mix, Quinn. I enjoy meeting people from around the world who frequent the GuestHouse. I also have a dog-walking business, Bubba's Dog Walking.
Michele Palatas purchased this House in 2002
Why Michele Palatas chose Northeast Anchorage
Anchorage is a great base for exploring the wild wonderful place called Alaska! It is a gorgeous drive south on the Seward Highway heading down to Girdwood, Seward, Homer, Hope, Coopers Landing and places in between on the Kenai Peninsula. There is much to see and much to do, especially in the great outdoors! Anchorage offers great restaurants, shopping, museums, citywide trails for biking, hiking, skiing....mountains for snowboarding, downhill, snowmachining and dogsledding........heading north to Denali, Fairbanks, the arctic brings unimaginable wonders to see and experience!

Very nice, clean and convenient!
Loved this place. Very nice and convenient place to stay. The landlord was very helpful and kind. Would stay here again!
Immaculate! Super comfy. Fully stocked with every thoughtful convenience. Highly recommend!
Perfect place to come home to after our daily adventures! And it really did feel like home. Great little private yard and outdoor chairs to sit in. Every need was anticipated. The beds were really comfortable! And clean? Wow. I've stayed in high end hotels that weren't this clean. I wouldn't want to stay anywhere else in Anchorage. Our first VRBO and the bar has officially been set high!
I am thrilled to hear! Thank you for your generous review and your exceptional care of the house. I hope to have you return to one of my guest houses when visiting Anchorage.
Fond regards, Michele.
Great kitchen, lovely art, convenient location.
My little party had a fine stay at Duben Place. There was plenty of room for the three of us, close groceries and other services and a well stocked kitchen that helped save $ on restaurants. Our meeting with Michele was delightful, and her recommendations were right on.
It was great to meet you and have you at the Guesthouse! Thank you for your generous review!
Fond regards, Michele.
It was a very nice place to stay. Quiet and private most of the time.
I loved the place and Michelle was a very gracious host. I would recommend it to anyone. It was unfortunate though that she had some remodeling going on while we were there (no heat or hot water for day and night). Other than that it was wonderful.
I know...I do apologize for that! and would you believe the deck is still not built! I had to fire that guy and find a new builder! But there is plenty of hot water and heat, although we have been in the 60's and 70's so no heat needed!
Thank you again for your stay and your kind and generous review.
Warm regards, Michele.
Delightful Stay at the Duben Place
Michele's place is absolutely perfect. It is exactly as described. Has two fenced private yards that worked very well for our dog, Titan. The kitchen is well stocked, the beds very comfortable. The place is cozy, clean, and has every thing you could need. We were staying in anchorage because my baby granddaughter was in the NICU, so we were pretty close to the hospital. Michele's place was a haven to come home to. Easy to find and had off street parking. Michele is an exceptional host and was extremely accommodating to our families needs.
Cozy, welcoming, well-equipped property
We rented this for a stay over Christmas as my mom's house was overflowing. Opened the door after a long, late flight up to Anchorage and were greeted by a Christmas tree, poinsettia, and candles - and cherry white chocolate bread for breakfast in the morning. What a warm welcome! Michelle was welcoming as well. The kitchen was well equipped with kitchen tools and food basics - I could have cooked a full dinner easily. The bedrooms were cozy and the beds comfortable. We needed to do some work over Christmas and found the Wifi worked well. There were books, puzzles, movies for down time and a list of suggestions for things to see and places to eat. Thoughtful touches like reusable bags in the entry way and hand mirrors in the bathroom were appreciated. We had snow, and the walks were shoveled before we woke up in the morning. Overall it was a wonderful, comfortable stay. I would happily stay here again.
Thank you so much for taking the time to write a gracious review! My intention is to make your stay as comfortable as possible. I do hope you again consider Anchorage Guest Houses when visiting Anchorage.
It was my pleasure having you here!
Warm regards, Michele.
