Located in a small village in the foothills of the Pyrenees, but in close proximity to larger cities, the house, built in 1876, retains its French character while providing modern amenities. Carcassonne, the best preserved medieval city in Europe, is only 25 minutes away. Andorra is approximately 90 minutes, but stopping for sights and views is a pleasure. The Mediterranean is 50 miles away and Spain is 25 miles further. 2 hours away is Figueres, home of the Dali Museum. River rafting is minutes away and ski slopes are in proximity. Pleasant drives and myriad walking trails are abundant throughout the area. Cathare history is on view from the front terrace, as is Rennes-Le-Chateau, famous for its mysteries. Cathare fortress chateaux are abundant throughout the area.
In warm weather, sit on the terrace in the morning with a cup of coffee and enjoy the view. Local vineyards produce some of the best wines of France and the local Blanquette is famous as the first sparkling wine ever produced. Many find it superior to Champagne. (NEVER call it that while in the area.)
The house has 3 large bedrooms, salon, kitchen/dining area. Television, telephone, and internet are available.
