About Lynn Kuznia

I live in Minneapolis and have enjoyed entertaining at this lake home for 10 years. Many people have come and stayed for a leisurely and restful escape.

Lynn Kuznia purchased this cabin in 2002

Why Lynn Kuznia chose Minnesota

I lived in Northwest Minnesota in my formative years and have always enjoyed this part of the state. I purchased this home so that all of my friends could come and stay with me. The area offers great relaxation, but you can also golf, gamble, shop within 40 minutes. The lake is such a gem as it offers great fishing and water recreation. Two large islands make for great exploration.

What makes this cabin unique

The views from the two large decks are unparalleled. Large yard for hanging out and a lake perfect for water-skiing or fishing. Also, a great home for the winter as this is connected to hundreds of miles of snowmobile trails into Itasca State Park and beyond.

It appears that it is not well-maintained.

  • 1 of 5

We were disappointed in the sleeping areas. We expected to sleep 12, but 2 of the beds were not in good condition. There are only 4 bedrooms and we expected 5. Also some things were in poor repair: the grills, the coffee maker, and the stove-top. The decks looked like they had not been cleaned this season:lots of cobwebs.

A little disappointed

  • 3 of 5

We were a little disappointed in our stay. We got a call the night prior to our stay to notify us the power was out due to a storm. We decided to touch base in the morning as we already bought food for the long weekend and it's a 4+ hour drive so things could charge. We touched base in the morning and the thought was that power would be restored that day as rest of lake had been restored. We arrived, still no power but power did turn on around 8pm. We immediately turned on the AC to cool off the house for sleeping. After an hour and no change we checked out the AC unit and the fan didn't work. We immediately called the property manager who came over to help. I also called the home owner who said they just purchased a $5k AC unit. They tried calling someone to fix it and said they would follow up with us the next day. Property manager felt we should get a refund however, never heard from them or the home owner again. Thankfully there were enough fans for each room used otherwise it would've been miserable.

We also noticed a wet bed the first night we went to sleep. Not sure if it was from the storm but an unpleasant surprise.

I can say we were happy with all the space and the neighbors were very friendly.

Minnesota Nice

  • 5 of 5

The owner of this property is awesome. So accommodating. We had great fishing everyday from the dock and from the paddle boat. The view from the living room is very peaceful. The gas grill and the multiple docks added to our vacation here. The price is reasonable and our big group had no problem dealing with the water usage requirements. Most up north properties are on a well and you can't use multiple sources of water at the same time. Thanks for a great vacation home.

Minnesota Nice and The Land of 10,000 Lakes

  • 5 of 5

The view from this lake house was so beautiful that we all spent all of our time on the multiple decks this property has. We caught fish every day from the dock. My kids loved the kayaking and padle boarding all over the lake. The house has everything you need to cook just bring your food. For evening the kids enjoyed a little bit of watching the TV that had DirectTV. My only complaint was not having a boat to explore the lake for our older family members who where not comfortable kayaking and Paddleboarding. I am already signed up for a return trip to the house for 3 days in September. Thank for such a great property and all the amenities available to us.

Very fun time

  • 3 of 5

We had a really great time at Lynn's home on Island Lake. He was very helpful and answered all of my questions before the trip. There were good and bad things about the property that were specific to our group. We had 8 adults and 4 children under the age of 2.

Cons:

You can only use 1 water source in the home at a time. This means if you're running the dishwasher, you cannot flush the toilet, run the washing machine, etc. This was difficult for our group because of the size.

I wouldnt recommend the property for groups with small children like ours. There isnt anywhere outside that is safe for little ones to roam and play.

No BEACH! I thought from the description that there would be a beach but alas, there was not. We had to go to the boat landing and play in the sand there which was limited for space.

PROS:

Lynn was very accomodating and as I said before, he answered all of my questions before hand.

Beautiful view of the lake!

We caught huge crappies and sunnies right from the dock everyday.

The dock was perfect for our 3 boats that we had for our group.

The cabin had just about everything you could need for a vacation.
