About Sterling and Janice Penman
Sterling and Janice are Colorado natives. Sterling's family homesteaded in Green Mountain Falls in 1888 and have lived in this area ever since. There isn't anything he doesn't know about this area. Just ask him! Janice and Sterling both graduated from Manitou High School in the 1970's. We both have extensive family living in this area.
Sterling and Janice Penman purchased this House in 2016
Why Sterling and Janice Penman chose Cascade
We built this new guest house next to our family home.
What makes this House unique
Sterling is a custom home builder, as was his father, and his grandfather. He owns Penman Construction and Properties with his brother. They work extensively in Green Mountain Falls and the Colorado Springs area. They have been in business for over 50 years. Sterling built Deer Crossing personally for your enjoyment. We built our home, which is next door, in 1997. We love this piece of land and the awesome views it affords.

This was mine and my husband’s first time visiting Colorado and I couldn’t be more happy that we stayed at deer crossing. They had everything we needed plus more, the area and views were absolutely breathtaking, and even in late April we got a few inches of snow(which my husband had never seen before)!! They even left us a cute “welcome” note!! I would highly recommend this to anyone, especially if it’s your first time in Colorado!!
Perfect place to launch your daily excursion
Perfect location, met all our needs and more than all our expectations. Cozy and welcoming, all around perfect.
Comfortable home with easy access to many of the area attractions. We really enjoyed our stay.
Wonderful, secure, cozy feel!
This a hidden gem! It was absolutely perfect for my getaway and the owners could not be more nice!!! I was impressed and so very grateful!!!! Would stay here again in a heart beat!
Excellent amenities, great atmosphere and location
Deer crossing is an absolutely perfect vacation home. It is a great location- close to all the beautiful sites but still tucked back in a quiet setting. Janice and Sterling have gone above and beyond to welcome guests to their home. It was decorated for Christmas including a tree and fresh poinsettia, which made it feel even more like home. Beautiful decorations throughout, a welcome sign with our name when we arrived along with some snacks in the fridge. We watched many movies in the evening, there was a great selection. The bed was VERY comfortable and the living room was very cozy with the fireplace. It was very cold when we visited and we wish we could have looked around a little more outside but we hope to be back again when the weather is warmer. We wished we could have stayed longer too. And we would have if we knew we were going to feel as we were at home. Thank you again!
Things to check out- the donut mill- biggest donuts ever, the pantry- cinnamon roll French toast and of course pikes peak. We drove up. The cog is closed for the winter for maintenance.
