About Sterling and Janice Penman
Sterling and Janice are Colorado natives. Sterling's family homesteaded in Green Mountain Falls in 1888 and have lived in this area ever since. There isn't anything he doesn't know about this area. Just ask him! Janice and Sterling both graduated from Manitou High School in the 1970's. We both have extensive family living in this area.
Sterling and Janice Penman purchased this House in 2016
Why Sterling and Janice Penman chose Cascade
We built this new guest house next to our family home.
What makes this House unique
Sterling is a custom home builder, as was his father, and his grandfather. He owns Penman Construction and Properties with his brother. They work extensively in Green Mountain Falls and the Colorado Springs area. They have been in business for over 50 years. Sterling built Deer Crossing personally for your enjoyment. We built our home, which is next door, in 1997. We love this piece of land and the awesome views it affords.

Clean and Cozy!
We felt so comfortable and welcome here! The place was spotless and very comfortable! We especially liked the welcome basket of snacks. It felt so homelike- small things that aren't very common in VRBOs like name brand toilet paper and nice linens are much appreciated! The owners were super responsive when we were confused about the heat/fireplace. The location can't be beat! I look forward to staying there again in the future!
I also want to point out that it is hard to tell from the pictures, but the bunk room really is a separate small bedroom with a door right across the hall from the master bedroom.
Loved Deer Crossing
Deer Crossing was wonderful! Very welcoming and cozy.
Beautiful quiet area, close to Pikes Peak, Seven Falls, and Garden of the Gods.
My family and I felt very much at home here and would recommend it to anyone wanting to checkout the area.
Clean, well kept and very accommodating owners
Enjoyed our stay in a quaint and cozy mountain cabin!!
Wonderful Mountain Cottage!
Sterling and Janice,
Thank you so much for such a wonderful time in your adorable little mountain cottage! Your home was comfortable, clean and very inviting! My husband and I enjoyed sitting outside on the patio, the weather was perfect! Just can't say enough about it. You thought of everything.......the fresh coffee beans for our morning coffee was probably our favorite! We had dinner at the Wines of Colorado, it was fabulous! We enjoyed downtown Manitou Springs and the Annual Arts Festival in Manitou Springs. We will definitely be back. So relaxing and peaceful!
Thanks so much for a wonderful trip,
Lisa and Gary
Beautiful mountain retreat
Our family stayed at the property for five nights in late August. Janice texted me the afternoon we were arriving to let us know the house was ready early. We were greeted with a nice welcome basket. Everything we needed or could think of was provided- from condiments, utensils, coffee, to kid-friendly plates and cups, plenty of clean sheets and towels. It was beautifully decorated with art from local artists and comfortable furniture to enjoy in the evenings after a busy day of hiking or exploring. Our two sons (ages 4 and 5) loved playing the games and watching a couple movies that were provided and playing in the sandbox on the property. Even though the internet and cell phone service were spotty (which is very common in the area) it was nice to have a few days to disconnect and spend time with family and enjoy the beauty of Colorado. We would highly recommend this property!
