It was nice, cozy and small, but big enough for our 11 person group mixed with adults and kids.
Limited parking, there was wood on the fireplace that we had to removed because we were not allowed to burn regular wood, also as advertised duraflame logs will be provided at no cost is untrue, we had to buy them and we were never reimbursed as we were told we would be.
Buyer beware. Bait and Switch was the game here
We rented this house - but didn't stay here because the owner said he had sold the home and we would be getting an upgrade and staying in the house next door. This house had 3 bedrooms and we ended up with one that had only 2 bedrooms. The house was not sold and in fact was re-rented to another group attending the same event we were attending. The home we stayed in was a "Swiss Chalet" also listed on Homeaway - it is cute, but the windows are unique more like boat windows - double windows at each opening and no screens. We had a misunderstanding with Patrick - absolutely no other people can be at the house besides those renting the property - I was under the impression of no parties - he meant no party as in people. We are in our late 50's/early 60's invited 2 other couples to bbq with us - we asked them to leave. The home accommodated our group and didn't dampen our purpose - attending a wedding. The other troublesome occurrence was that someone was at our rental each evening under the deck and drank 1/2 bottle of beer, leaving the rest of the bottle to send a creepy message. We use VRBO & Homeaway often and have never had an experience like this before.
We really enjoyed our stay. The house was cozy and had everything we needed, including a fenced in backyard for our dog. Patrick was a very friendly and helpful host. He went out of his way to make us comfortable and make sure we had everything we needed. We enjoyed being in a calmer part of this area with fewer people. Sometimes being in Big Bear or surrounding areas feels like we never left LA, but we truly felt like we were away from the city at Lake Gregory!
Quiet getaway close to the lake.
Just chilling on the deck having breakfast. Just the sounds of the birds and a few cars. I can see the path that goes around the lake from here with joggers and dog walkers. Location is great as we walked to a nice shady fishing spot with the kids. There is no sprint service here, but the wifi privided is quite strong. The beds were comfy -2 of them are memory foam. The kids enjoyed the loft bedroom and games (and wifi) The kitchen was well stocked and even had a few things we forgot. The nearby store has everything you might need (buy ice as the icemaker doesnt work) There was great fun at the lake for kids and adults with water slides that were so fast and climbing thing right in the water. The owners were really helpful and noted that the have several other properties in the area, but this one really fit the bill for a quiet weekend away.
Great host and the house was everything we were looking for.
Cute cabin walking distance to Lake Gregory
Very cute cabin. The Lake Gregory hiking trail is at the bottom of the driveway and is a very pretty hike that goes around the whole lake. Can also walk to several swimmable beaches. Cabin came with beach passes for the water slides and floating obstacle course which made for a very fun afternoon with my three kids. Beds are tempur pedic and very comfortable. Close to store, restaurants, bowling alley, etc.
