We call this Sunset Shores on Grindstone as it faces west across long lake views of all 3000 acres of Grindstone Lake. This lake is just south of Hayward and you are located on a deep wooded. Grindstone is a clear water, full recreational lake with good fishing and great water quality for boating/swimming activities. It is a 3 BR, 2 bath home with a nice lakeside screen porch and deck. There is one bedroom on main level which is a king. There is a queen bedroom on the lower level and a second BR has matching 2 sets bunk beds (full size) with foosball table, and a queen size futon. There is a baby crib on site too! Sleeps 6 and total square footage is 1600 square feet. There is a full bath on each level. You have an outdoor fire pit and outdoor shower! You have central A/C, a nice lakeside screen porch, attached deck, and free use of canoe and bikes. There is a long dock for your boat. The cabin is available for rental May through October. We rent Friday to Friday. We do not rent during the winter months.
We have stayed in several Hayward area cabins the past few years and Sunset Shores was clearly our favorite. The sunsets, amenities, outdoor environment, updated and beautiful home with space for all was a real treat. You literally won't find a place with better view of sunsets. The lake was fabulous: clean, shallow for kids even past the dock. The home seemed recently updated and is very comfortable with plenty of space. I agree with other reviewer, the previous management company was rude and impersonal. However, this family found left-behind stuff animals from my kids and went to the trouble to contact us, and package them and send them. Given the tears shed over these stuffed animals, that meant a lot. This is THE place we'd like to keep coming back to for years. You will, too!
I didn't write this last year, but better late than never. First let me start by saying this property is beautiful. The sunsets are beyond compare. Also, the place was indeed clean on the inside. However, there were quite a few miscues that need to be addressed. The canoe and bicycles at our disposal were in the garage covered in spider webs. There are no tie downs on the dock for boats, only a rickety lift in desperate need of servicing (count on taking 10 minutes or more to secure your boat). The property manager was completely impersonal, and didn't even bother to meet us during our stay. There were a few issues our first night and a couple more issues later in the week, and even though he did call me back as soon as possible, he presented no real solutions to any of my concerns. He also made the worst mistake in sales (and yes, as a property manager you are selling a service), which is not bothering to follow up later to say thank you for the business, and see what he could do to get me back the next year. A phone call to your guests after the stay also goes quite a long way. Needless to say, even though we plan on many more Hayward vacations, we will not be dealing with this property management company in the future.
Northwest Wisconsin and the Hayward area is a favorite recreation with hundreds of freshwater lakes, national forests, golf courses, and cross-country and snowmobile trails.
