It is summer at Heathwood. The gardens are full of colour and texture, alive with butterflies and bees. Watching the fireworks on Saturday night from our patio was amazing as the night sky was lit up with cascading lights that rivalled the Milky Way. The night sky at Heathwood brings the magnitude of our Universe into clear perspective.

The Courtyard Suite

From the moment you open the gate onto your secluded patio and enter the Courtyard Suite, you are welcomed into the cozy charms of this two bedroom, two bath suite. Attached to a tranquil country home, and suitable for two couples or a family of four, this self-contained 1400 sq.ft. suite delights with its attention to detail and peaceful ambiance.

With panoramic views across the pastoral reaches of Mt. Newton Valley to the snow-capped mountains of the Olympic Range in Washington, enjoy morning tea or a candlelit dinner on your private patio amidst the English Country gardens with the waters of the Pacific Ocean close by.

Comfort and relaxation have been the key words for the design and execution of this unique property. Each master suite offers a Queen-sided bed with fine linens and sufficient drawers and closets for you to put your bags away and be at home during your stay. The attached bathrooms provide comfy bathrobes and extra towels, luxuriously appointed with local hand-crafted soaps and shampoos.

Your kitchen is fully equipped with every convenience and the pantry is stocked with spices, oils and condiments for your cooking pleasure. Your patio has a BBQ and comfy patio set for your outdoor dining enjoyment. If you are a late arrival, there will be fresh scones waiting in the fridge to savor in the morning.

During the summer months, take a glass of wine out to your patio and watch the skies light up with explosive colors every Saturday evening, compliments of the Butchart Gardens Summer firework show.

All year, away from the lights of the city, the night sky is filled with the stars and constellations of our Universe. In the stillness of Heathwood, enjoy star-gazing or watch the Perseids Meteor Shower from mid-July to mid-August.

We encourage you to explore the stunning beauty of Supernatural BC. Centrally located on the Saanich Peninsula, local activities are just moments away. Whether you like to commune with nature, hike trails, walk along beaches, whale watch, kayak, tour gardens and wineries or shop local artist’s galleries and boutiques, Heathwood is close to them all.

Take a short drive into Victoria to see the Parliament Building, the Provincial Museum or enjoy high tea at the historic Empress Hotel.

Come share the sweeping views and cozy ambiance of Heathwood Estates with us.

Your hosts, Jacqueline & Ollie

About The Owner

My Husband and I have travelled extensively. When, one day we sailed to Vancouver Island, we were captivated by the beauty of this entire area and knew that we had found a gem. We felt incredibly fortunate that we really stumbled on this stunning Island and knew that this is where we would love to make our permanent home.

The Owner purchased this estate in 2006

Why The Owner chose Victoria

The beauty and uniqueness of the valley captivated us. The home, surrounded with beautiful English Country gardens and spectacular views. We face South overlooking this beautiful valley, the Bay and through to the Olympic Mountains of Washington. We enjoy watching the Ferries crossing from Brentwood Bay to Mill Bay. The proximity to Victoria and the Inner Harbour to the South of us and the picturesque town of Sidney-by-the-sea to the North of us all within minutes away. We are always so happy to return to the Beauty, peace and tranquility of our home, Heathwood. Our property provides an idyllic setting for our Equestrian activities, we can enjoy watching our horses grazing peacefully in their pastures..

What makes this estate unique

The Unique Benefits at this Estate:

The beauty and uniqueness of the valley allows us to live in the heart of the countryside, surrounded by farms producing fresh local produce where the honor system is still often used.We are in the perfect location; with easy access to Victoria the capital city of British Columbia, a short 15

minute drive. Or if we wish to explore this magnificent Island the Pacific Marine Circle Route is the perfect one-day drive. Including visiting West Coast beaches and parks, world famous ancient forests and mammoth trees… with interesting and quaint places to see along the way such as “Point No Point” for tea with a stunning view, French Beach, China Beach, Port Renfrew and the fascinating Botanical Gardens the trailhead of Pacific Rim Park, Cowichan Lake , the list is immense. After a day of sight seeing and discovering new places to return to the peace, beauty and tranquility of Heathwood is a treasure we never take for granted. Victoria and the South Island region is home to many exceptionally talented chefs who turn local products into memorable dining experiences. Taste the amazing foods from the region, fresh produce, Pacific seafood, fine wines and ales at the restaurants in the area or bring the delights you find home to enjoy in your “home away from home” – Heathwood.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We really did enjoy the relaxing atmosphere that was there at Heathwood. Along with you being more than accommodating to us in allowing us the use of the downstairs to store our bikes while we were there. My brother and his wife along with Jennifer and I truly enjoyed our stay there. When we come through again, maybe even to do this race again, we will be looking to stay at Heathwood. Thanks again, we look forward to another meeting.

Beautiful, comfortable and peacefull

  • 5 of 5

Perfectly located just a few miles north of Victoria and nestled among the rolling hills. The estate was beautiful and comfortable. It was wonderfully decorated and had every thing a person would need. We enjoyed our time and would come back at the drop of a hat. Thanks.

Follow the Road To Tranquility!

  • 5 of 5

Heathwood was such a peaceful and charming countryside getaway. When you first entered the Courtyard Suite, it was very inviting. It had a unique ambiance with a nice open-floor plan with lovely artwork and furnishings. The living room had large windows, and we loved sitting in the swivel chairs. Once you stepped outside to the balcony, it was enclosed with beautiful geraniums. Both areas offered a fantastic view of the fields, distant mountains & the bay. There was special landscape lighting, which was especially helpful at nighttime. Jacqueline and Ollie's English Gardens were also impressive. My husband enjoyed the friendly and well-behaved dogs, when he grilled outside in our private courtyard.

Jacqueline was available at all times for our queries. She was very kind, especially when I unfortunately arrived with a bum knee. It was brilliant of her to suggest that we borrow a wheelchair from the local Mount Newton Center. My husband and I were able to take our time over two days exploring the amazing Butchart Gardens.

We were so fortunate to have found Heathwood online and were able to celebrate our 45th Anniversary with a nice, mellow wine left by our thoughtful hosts.

Peaceful, Pastoral, Paradise

  • 5 of 5

We have been renting vacation properties for over ten years now and always look for the best. We were very impressed with Heathwood and all it had to offer! It is, by far, the most comfortable, well-equipped and most convenient property we have had the pleasure of staying at! It had everything that we would desire plus more!

The property was peaceful and serene, just what we needed after a week's vacation with our six grandkids! We enjoyed watching the horses graze as we sipped our wine on the deck. The view was gorgeous and Randy was envious of the garden and pool with coy!

Everything was above our expectations and one of the nicest properties in all our travels. Jacqueline and Ollie were gracious and accommodating hosts...we couldn't have asked for better!

Thank-you so much, Jacqueline and Ollie, for a relaxing time and we hope to return soon!

We can not recommend this lovely estate highly enough. You will be thrilled with the setting, the enchanting gardens, and the complete tasteful furnishings in your abode. The view, quiet and beauty that surround you is so rewarding. The owners are SO accommodating and friendly ( as well as the four great dogs). A great vacation base when visiting Vancouver Island.

  • 5 of 5

We very much enjoyed our weeks stay at Heathwood. There are a number of good restaurants, wineries, Butchart Gardens and other attractions in the near area. The commute down to Victoria is straightforward and convenient. There really are too many things to see and do. Jackie and Ollie are very gracious hosts. The property itself is lovely and well cared for. The accommodations were very comfortable and well equipped.

An idyllic setting in every way possible!

  • 5 of 5

We had a marvelously relaxing week at Heathwood's Courtyard Suite. The setting is idyllic - lovely English gardens, peaceful, charming, and immaculate. Jacqueline and Ollie are wonderful hosts - personable, friendly, and always thinking of special touches. We truly enjoyed our welcome bottle of wine, as well as the hand picked raspberries waiting for us one evening upon our return. The suite is fully equipped, wonderfully decorated, and comfortably roomy for 4 - even though there was just the two of us! Our morning coffee on the deck was a great way to start the day. We've never stayed outside of the city previously, but this location was ideal. Only 20-25 minutes into Victoria, a short 4-minute drive into the local town, and close to Sidney, Ferries, restaurants, wineries, and excellent day hikes! We couldn't have asked for better! We'll be back for sure. Thank you!
