3br/3ba Mountain View Directly on River for Fishing, Hiking and Relaxing
If you want to stay at a beautiful house that replaces the constant sound of your television, cell phone and wasteful time on the internet with the soothing sound of a river, chirping birds and wind rustling through the trees than this is the place for you. Get away from the daily grind and immerse yourself in nature. This is an unplugged vacation: no internet, no cable television but there are 200 DVDs, and limited cell phone coverage. There is an Internet cafe 15 min away in Cashiers.
The 'The River House' property is located on the Western North Carolina fly fishing trail (west fork Tuckasegee River) and sits on 12.5 acres. The property is about 10 minutes from Lake Glenville and 15 minutes from downtown Cashiers. Also close to Sylva, Highlands, Waynesville, Franklin and Asheville. This is an outstanding property offering fly-fishermen, naturalist, hiker and adventurist the ultimate experience.
This Moss Creek designed log home, 2BR/2BA home, is now complete and looks amazing. No expense was spared in creating a luxurious log cabin with marble counter tops, stainless steel appliances, antique wood floors, claw-footed bath tubs for each bathroom, 3 fireplaces and many carpentry details that can only be explained by visiting the property. This property is exceptional in every way. Some of the materials used in the construction include: antique logs, bricks, dry stacked stone, reclaimed wood & barn wood timbers.
The property also includes a 1BR/1BA guest house that overlooks the pond and the length of the river. Both houses show great attention to detail. This property is breathtaking and offers a completely relaxing experience. You can sit on the back porch and watch the river rush by, fish from the banks or wade into the river that is only a few steps away. There are also many miles of hiking trails directly adjacent to the property that follow the river or uphill toward the top of the mountain. The interior of this home was designed by CJ Brownhouse and has everything you need except the food.
The river house is located directly on the fly fishing trail along the Tuckasegee River. The fly fishing trail begins in Western North Carolina and provides a suitable habitat for trout.
Other amenities include a large pavilion with Jenn-air grill and open air fireplace. All buildings are located directly on the river and provide unprecedented views of the river.

Quality Quiet Cabin
Dax created a cabin extroirdinary, perfect retreat for our family with college kids. Every careful detail in this craftsman beauty was noticed and appreciated. We plan to come back soon!!
So wonderful - neither pictures nor words can do this location justice!
Our 3-generation group of six and our two dogs thoroughly enjoyed this property! In fact, we have had a difficult time deciding how it was most enjoyed. The young guys stayed in/out of the river, played on the banks and across the log "bridge," and ran all over the property. Our "city" dogs were in puppy heaven with the acres of safe roaming areas; they ran and rolled and bounced over the property and in the river! There was much fishing, hiking, reading, game-playing, and eating to be shared, especially with no interference from the outside world. We enjoyed the fireplace at night, and the bedding was very comfortable. The porches were so well located to soak in the wonderful sounds of the river and the wildlife. My husband loved watching the "hatch" on the river! I was nicely surprised by the size of the river, as it was much larger than it had appeared to me in the pictures. Before we left we were already talking about when we could come back. If I had my own "dream" place on the river, this would be it!
Very relaxing getting unconnected
A wonderful, beautiful place to get away.
Property is nice and secluded but house needs some maintenance
Was disappointed that the fireplace in the master bedroom did not work. Trying to unplug during this winter cold snap, eas looking forward to a nics cozy fire. Also could not get the dryer in the main house to work. Every night could hear some kind of animal crawling in the wall around the fireplace in master bedroom. We came home a night early. The property was pretty but would have been a lot nicer if the fallen trees had been cleared from the creek. Also lot of cold air draft coming in between the French doors in the master bedroom. House was very dark. Not very inviting.
I would like to apologize for any inconvenience but with a 4.9 star rating this review caught me off guard. We do everything we can to ensure that our guests vacation is the best that it can be. I checked the dryer and it works just fine. There are plenty of lights in every room so I’m not sure why it was dark. There may have been a slight draft from one of the doors if it is not shut properly. I include the instructions on how to close French doors in the pdf file I send every guest. There are also three fireplaces in the house. The gas fireplace has been disconnected but the other two wood burning fireplaces work. This is also included in the instructions.
As for the tree across the river there isn’t much I can do about that since trees fall all the time. It’s nature what can you do.
A Christmas to remember
We enjoyed our stay at the cabin last august so much that we decided to spend our net Christmas there.
We could not have made a better a better choice! Kept a fire in the fireplace, hung stockings, and had a wonderful Christmas dinner of baked ham.
Dax is great to work with and very prompt answering any questions or request.
Our friend that came with us enjoyed walking along the river bank (looking for gold), and thinking he might spot the otter we saw here last summer. As we were leaving where was a large flock of turkeys crossing the road close to the cabin!! This place is MAGIC!!
Mike & Jodi
We loved the river house and property and did not want to leave! It was peaceful and beautiful and it was so nice to spend family time together without cell phones or internet. Will definitely be going again!
